This was a great adventure but I hope you will find a way to prevent the wind noise next time.

Hey Man...me again. Would you do a nerd video of your fishing and crabbing equipment? I always got stuck with hand me down fishing equipment until I was out of the game for a while and had to re-equip. I have 5 different sizes of Ugly Sticks, including a 12' two piece for surf fishing. I got 5 different Penn Pursuit III reels to go with them and put different test of braided on each to avoid wind knots.. I matched the 12' with a 6000, and it's a dream. Word to the wise if you follow my path, I vanity purchased the 8000 and it's very heavy and not for wading. None of this equipment was overly expensive. What are you using, what have you tried in the past and how do the rods and reels compare with each other. Inquiring minds want to know!!!!

what kind of fish are you targeting and where are you from? matching the right gear to the target fish is important. if you are going for anything in the water you are fishing, then your gear you have right now seems just fine. 12' 6000 can land just about anything for the most part.

it seems like mid june was really good this year. early june to late june was all good overall, right now in early july the shad run is slowing down. this spot at the cascade locks marina was a really easy place to catch plenty of shad. you can buy an out of state oregon fishing license online at myodfw. you'll need a fishing license as well as a columbia river endorsement tag which is something like 10$. I think you also need a combined angler tag which is around 66$ to fish the columbia which accounts for salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, and halibut. make sure to only use 2 hooks maximum on your line. columbia river only allows 2 hooks maximum and you don't want to get a ticket.

Hi, I know there are a lot of Chinese coming from CA to come fish for shad, they usually come mid to late June which is the peak run. July 4th is pass peak and you will still catch shad but not sure you will get enough to be worth the gas you spend on the road :)
