  • Prepping for my first convention has been way more difficult that I could have imagined. One thing after another has gone wrong. Prepping for this artist alley has definitely been a huge challenge in growing my small business. I did NOT think it would have thrown so many challenges my way.
    Next week I will be growing my small business by doing my first every artist alley convention! I can't wait to see what happens in my small business journey next! Getting into selling my art at conventions is a big and exciting step to take and one I have wanted to do for a long time now!
    Wish me luck! 😬

    The hand press you are using is only good for transfering vinyl or doing small sublimation coasters where you don't have to move it, that's why you always get ghosting. You need to buy one of the heat presses that close with pressure, they are not too expensive.

      I second that. You need a good heat press.

    I'd get a full-on heat press if you wanna continue with the sublimation, I promise your stress will decrease dramatically as the flaws will happen with way less frequency! My heart hurts for you being so frustrated but it's honestly the press.

    Hey Abi, I feel you. I had the same issues with my printer and it did my head in. In the end I went and changed the settings to slow as for some reason it was printing on quick, also changed my paper to Matt for the sublimation paper type. This was a game changer and it prints amazing now.

    Pick up the press before you move it. Do half at low temp for same amount of time, Repeat on other side. Never slide it around hoping this helps.

    You should really invest in a heat press for the mousepads it will save you money in the long run

    SUPPLIERS - Dye sublimation supplies and Mackie Direct are my go to sub suppliers.
    HEAT PRESS - Ink experts swing away press is under £200 and you can pay in 3 over 3 months so definitely worth it. This will save you so much money is wastage too.
    Keep going, it’s hard and the first few years of a business will always be a loss. Growth is the aim! ❤

    My cats are also OBSESSED with my mug press - I don't even know why?!? Maybe they're attracted to danger! If it makes you feel better, my printers & cricut have been messing up horribly for me this week (which has been one of my busiest weeks ever, great timing as always) and I want to throw them out the window. Hopefully, this weekend goes better for you, I can't wait to see how you do at the con!!!

    I just had to do a whole clean of my printer too. So frustrating and messy. And while it did fix some of the issues, it didn't fix them all. Printers are so finicky!

    awww Abi what a rough weekend! i'm sorry you're going through all that, i know it's frustrating!! On the bright side this is only a temporary setback. I did have an idea that might sound a little unconventional but what about trimming down those mouse pads so they fit in the area of the heat press you have now? also, the printing issue you had about the brightness, i would recommend printing the same
    image a few times with a different paper profile each time so you can compare the quality. i hope this gets better for you, best of luck at the convention 😊

    few things, why laminate the backing cards for the pins? most ppl dont keep those and its just adding more plastic to landfill? idk just a thought... 2 with the prints, it might be the paper as well. if the paper is old, cheap, stored badly or a bad batch, the sizing on it can go bad, effecting how the ink sits on it

    You CAN use that heat press. Ditch that soft heat pad and use a folded towel because you NEED a HARD surface. Also do NOT drag the heatpress cause that causes the ink to smear.

  • @MKNAuniverse
    @MKNAuniverse Před 6 měsíci

    Actually sublimation always bleed a bit on the edges, this is why you need to put a fabric or Teflon paper below to not ruin your pressing surface. But it also means that as your pressing surface is smaller, it’ll bleed where you have the border, and bleed a little bit less (but still) on the border of your press when you’ll press the second time…
    The big heat presses will avoid this to happen 👍 and also will provide a nice even pressure on all the surface.

    I would give the mouse pads a go again. You need the pressure for them also. I do flags that I don't have a large enough heat press and printer for them and you have to do it in 2 sections. Try pressing half and all your pressure on the one side and then lifting it up and putting your pressure on the other half. Hopefully that semi made sense 😅 Keep pushing you will get there!

  •  Před 6 měsíci

    Are the colors off right after printing or after you laminate? If they are off after you laminate let the paper dry long before laminating them

  • @deneenwendling1593

    The other pad you have is definitely not helping, and a hand meld press isn’t really good for mousepads. You need a regular heat press

    It’s time to get a real heat press, Also your cats body touched the rims of cups that you will be selling to customers , very unsanitary . Your pets should not be allowed in your work area.

      Who doesn't wash new mugs before they use them though? I don't see how a cat brushing against the mug is any worse than buying a mug from a physical shop where a bunch of random people have potentially handled it.

    • @AbiNova
      @AbiNova  Před 6 měsíci

      She didn't touch the mug, I was watching her. She simple sniffed it and I work downstairs in my living room so I'm not going to lock my cats upstairs without access to the kitchen to where their water and food bowls are just because I'm working.

      @@thetruthandnothingbutthetr6484 Looks someone hasn't worked in a warehouse before. You're being so damn nitpicky for no reason but to be a bully.
      If you're weirded out by a cat nose boop I suggest scrubbing every item you buy from a store.
      Everything we buy even the blanks for these are stored in warehouses crawling with all sorts of critters and bugs. Wash everything you buy from the store that touches your body - because you don't have any idea how it's stored. Don't get me started on how gross shipping containers are.
