I don't know if WordPress has changed, but this didn't work for me, because there isn't an option to change permalink.

@kungfury6410 Sorted it i think....had to go into the peramlinks section of the overall settings and then told wp to create pages as title and then when i went to change the link on a page it allows me to edit it now. hope it works for you.

I do not have that permalinks section on the page you mentioned
If I change my permalinks to default to the blog post title, does it mess up all my backlinks linking everything to prior posts?
Is this a way to redirect old url to save seo data? (like rankmath redirections?)
I did the permalink change and Google decided to see both URLs (old & new one) and now I have a canonical issue. Any thoughts on why and how to avoid/fix this?

with your site up select customize(brush icon, and next to your site name)in customize scroll the left menu till you get to home page settings.
in home page settings, under your home page displays: select A static page and select the page under Homepage.

what if there is no permalinks?
There is no permalink in the page editor for me as well. I found another solution. So I just went to WP global Settings -> Permalinks and changed the structure of permalinks to show the "Post Name" instead of "Plain" as it was by default... It did what I wanted. However, if somebody knows how to turn on the "Permalinks section" in each page editor, please share.
And after that in the "Page Editor," I can click on the URL itself and PopUp appears with the "Permalink" editable field. WTG!!!

this only works for posts but not pages, you cant change page url
That is unfortunate, that is what I came here looking to do. He should probably change the title of the video, if this is the case.

edit: you can fix this by going into settings > permalinks and then chose "post name" instead of "plain"
I found this out after rubbing my skull for 20 minutes.
I couldnt change anything
Frustrated. I do not know how to get to the section you already had opened in a new tab; so I still can't edit the permalink. I need a step-by-step "how to". I'm sure I'll find another video but I thought I'd mention it for people like me who are beginners.
