Has anyone ever asked Phil why there's 13 knobs on his bass?

I’ve seen him play one those Alembic.😂 basses back in the day I seen Jack Cassidy play a Alembic with more knobs then I’d ever seen ever seen on any guitar. Jack paid $4000 for his. You have to remember these basses were custom instruments not factory built.
