      could sell your old sc to recoup some of the cost. but it’s probably more cost effective to just go buy a clean jcw and mod it or go straight to a gp.
      had i known id fall in love with the r53 i wouldve gotten the gp straight away. now ive got like 10k in mods invested in a high mileage car. 😅

    I'm a bit surprised in the comparison on the Mini Club racecar. When you compare a "before car" on unleaded petrol to a "after car" that has been converted to E85 how can you tell the increase in power that your "normal" Mini owner is interested in?

  • @fabiovitagliano3986
    @fabiovitagliano3986 Před 4 lety +7

    You can easily get 220 bhp with a pulley, ported head, intercooler and 4-2-1 manifold

  • @warwickdean
    @warwickdean Před 7 lety +9

    So using the biggest pulley it's creating as much boost pressure as an Eaton with -15% but without running out of efficiency up top? B-)

    It appears M45 has more torque up till 6000 rpm. Unless you are racing, stock M45 performs better in real life. E85 testing is irrelevant for street cars.

    • @charles13300
      @charles13300 Před 4 lety +2

      E85 is perfect for a street R53. You just need bigger injectors

    Those stock power levels seem low. My R53 made 210whp with just a 17% pulley, intake, and tune. It was 175whp stock. I was told by the tuner, who has been tuning MINIs for a decade, that he has never dynoed an R53 under the stock crank horsepower rating. How could there be so much discrepancy in measured power?

    • @mednag7107
      @mednag7107 Před 7 lety

      big difference between Wheel HP vs Brake HP. in the video this is BHP

    • @sethmorton1856
      @sethmorton1856 Před 7 lety +1

      That dyno measures horsepower at the wheels. Brake horsepower is just an old term people used to describe crank horsepower.

    • @shanepaul6737
      @shanepaul6737 Před 7 lety +3

      wheel is how much power the cars wheels put down to the dyno, brake hp is how much power to the hubs and crank is well to the crank

    • @hoganfan924
      @hoganfan924 Před 6 lety +6

      The SAE correction factor. Notice the Harrop video states "2004 SAE," or J1349. Most aftermarket dyno guys use the much older SAE correction from the 1970's (SAE J607) which artificially inflates the numbers, as it runs 17F cooler air temp and has other favorable corrections. Plus, if your dyno is at more than about 2000' elevation, the correction factor start getting even higher. The factory rated 163BHP is an honest number to SAE J1349, as is clear from the WHP measured by Harrop in this video. It's also easy for aftermarket dyno guys to "put their foot on the scale," and switch which C.F. is used between runs to make it appear that their tune is even better.

    so your telling me, 5000 dollars with shipping and handling for 30 HP? BOO
    were better off adding a wet nitrous kit and E85.

    • @GyroPyro121212
      @GyroPyro121212 Před 5 lety +2

      IOL Outbound It made 30 extra whp on an engine that made 158 whp. That’s a 19% increase in power with a supercharger that is dimensionally similar and should offer stock-like or better reliability. Not to mention there was 0.3 psi less on the TVS900 vs the M45. Not that the 0.3 psi would account for much (plus getting the two to produce the exact same boost would require extra time and pulley fabrication), but at 16.7 the TVS900 probably would have allowed a few extra hp. That said, an approximate 20% increase in power at the same boost level with a blower that fits in virtually the same space is pretty good IMO. And sure you can add nitrous, but then you have to keep filling the bottle(s), checking pressure, etc... and once the shot is all gone, a TVS900 car will walk on by.

      You do know wheel and crank horsepower aren’t the same thing right? That 269 is closer to 300 at the crank from 1.6 liters and a supercharger. I won’t explain the differences of a supercharger vs turbo. The pump gas number is more at the wheels than Honda’s 1.5 turbo is at the crank with the same boost pressure. The civic type r needs 25 per cent more displacement 50 percent more boost from a turbo and direct injection 93 octane to match that wheel rating of this 20 year old design on e85. Yeah it’s a real POS.
