I test drove one yesterday from a dealer as I have wanted one since owning an R50 cooper, it looked good in the pictures and write up however it was on it's last legs. Everything was worn or broken I was gutted as I was ready to buy it, the search goes on!
Sorry to hear that man, there are some poor examples out there with ‘owners’ looking for good example money. You’ll find one though mate, I had an issue with the first one I nearly bought and a day later I found my car. Yes it needed some work but it was a solid foundation to work from! 👍🏻

I ran a 15% reduced supercharger pulley with a +5% lightweight Alternator pulley and +2% lightweight crankshaft pulley. Replaced the belt tensioner pulley with a Lohen one, ran a RAMAir induction kit, colder spark plugs, Beru coil pack, the usual! 👍🏻😂
Great video effects . I'm on my 2nd R 53! I always loved how they look! They perform fantastic. ...a cross between a Bulldog and a Tiger . 95 %of a Ferrari for 20% of the cost . Motor On!!👍👍🎩👎
Nope! The wheels are 17x7’s and just sit really well. When I first got the car it had some 16x8’s on and they looked nice and fat but were creating too much arch gap. 👍🏻

Power steering pump is gone so need another one in. Excited for the exhaust to arrive. How difficult is the pulley reduction job ?
It’s a bit fiddly, so truth be told, I had the specialist garage I use do it! Main reasons where that I didn’t have a pulley belt removal tool and... I’m impatient! 😂 If you are good at fixing up cars it shouldn’t be too much of a problem as I know a fair few people who are far better mechanics than me, who have done it themselves with little difficulty. Nice one on landing an R53, they are very fun cars to drive, even better when you’ve got a set up that suits you! 👍🏻
1100 Pounds... Yeah in the UK at least :'-( in france it's more like 4000 pounds for a car that would pass MOT, you guys are lucky to have such cheap cars (however your insurances rates are crazy)
It was in a bit of a state when I bought it, had to get some bits done before it’s first MOT of my ownership to make sure it passed. I’m over £6k in the hole with it since I’ve owned it! Drives superbly now though! Insurance is pretty steep in the UK, saying that I pay less than £400 a year for the R53...👍🏻
It’s not mate, it’s up by the Mamhead Obelisk in Devon! Just outside Exeter, some excellent short but challenging roads running through woodland. I’ve just Google Mapped Cannock Chase, certainly looks worth a visit! 👍🏻

I'VE GOT £6000 QUIDS WORTH OF WHY YOU "shouldn't buy one .... Credit Card - eater for sure.. But then when your in love.... I tried to swop it but nobody wanted it ...and its really clean ... So Summer is upgrade time ...stuff it ...I'm keeping it and investing for the future ...I would not have a Milk Float it you give it to me! 200Kid😊

@@SULKNATIONtv Well, if you want to talk about performance mods (in the flesh), I could. I own my R52S for over 12years. Before it had 225whp (by Jan from RMW tuned it), but because new laws (about car modifications, mostly exhaust relugations) in my living area, I had to go low profile and went to OEM+ route instead 8years ago. So, to resume the performance mods: - Alta pulley 15% reduction - JCW CAI - Dinan catback (really hard to find) - Complete JCW suspension - 25mm rear swaybar (being set at the most stiff position) And those Racing Hart wheels weight 17lbs each.

Hi buddy, the were Mim ‘Amalfi’ wheels. Late 90’s early 2000’s era. 17x7 ET 35. Heavy as hell but looked good! 👍🏻

Nope! The wheels are 17x7’s and just sit really well. When I first got the car it had some 16x8’s on and they looked nice and fat but were creating too much arch gap. 👍🏻
