- In this video, I try out the team that Abdullah Mohayyuddin used to win the 2023 Vancouver Pokemon VGC Regional Championships! The team was originally built by Nick Navarre, who finished in the Top 4 of the Knoxville Regional Championships. It features Torkoal and Lilligant as well as some super strong picks like Choice Scarf Great Tusk, Lum Berry Multiscale Dragonite, and more!

It is always an honor to play you Aaron, Great run at Vancouver! Thanks for being an inspiration to us all!
GG, thanks for holding so many events for the community :)
Congrats on making it to top 4 Aaron!
It's incredible how you have been able to create content, being a commentator and a skilled player at the same time!!
I hope to see you competing again in the future, and I also like your content quite a lot!
The Pokémon Community is blessed to have you!!
❤a9
Was super cool watching you play on stream! Will o miss was unfortunate. Amazing run regardless my boy
🐐
Will-o-whiff
Willomiss being willomiss
Ayeee haydunn!! My dude!
Losing to the people you help inspire and raise into Pokémon masters in definitely suffering from success, we love you Aaron
This is the true blessing in disguise!!!
congrats on getting 4th! after being a commentator for a long time then just immediately getting that placement is no joke, well played!
I just want to say, I love how humble and gracious you are. I genuinely get excited for each new video. Congrats on top four and congrats to Abdullah!
Thanks for always putting out great content and of course, immaculate vibes as always.
I love this team. It not only has torkoal-lilligant and Great Tusk, but all the mons are named after Twice Songs. This is AMAZING
A lot of people have said it, but you were amazing in Vancouver. I don’t think a lot of us have actually seen how intense you get when you’re serious. It was really impressive.
I really hope we get to see more of you on the world’s circuit.
Rooting for you to get to 200K. Such a great content creator. Appreciate all the joy you have given me.
Pop a Quick Claw on that Torkoal and we’re in business
Lol
r/stunfisk is leaking
Rain Dance Damp Rock Gallade while we’re at it
"Oh a torkoal and it's not under trick room lemme moonblast and Draco meteor to knock it out"
Quick Claw: I'm about to destroy this man's entire career.
Always gracious, always humble. It’s been great watching your channel grow and to see your positive energy and attitude extend to the larger Pokémon community. Let’s go 200k!
Don't give up! You have helped so many people understand pokemon vgc.
"Sometimes you have to laugh it off"
Dude I would've been super mad after missing back to back 90% acc moves and a Sleep Powder and would've stopped playing for the day 😂
Love your attitude though, very composed, very calm and really nice to see someone not rage about RNG in a videogame for once xD
Congrats on your run at Regionals, Aaron!! Thank you for committing to this content train!
Your performance in Vancouver was masterful! Ryan’s team was a tough matchup but had the RNG gods been on your side for that match, I totally could have seen you taking the whole thing. However, the way you reflected on the run was so humble and commendable.
Stay positive and please don’t stop competing, we are all rooting for you!! Cheers to the VGC content king, here’s to the incoming 200k subs!
Armarouge Indeedee made me drop Lilligant Torkoal back in S1, so glad to see it’s doing well again. I’m a Wide Lens Lilligant user tho because I’m too annoyed when it misses lmao
Was very hyped watching you on the stream, I don’t even usually watch it live but you being there made me watch it. Please play more if you can :) was very fun
Aaron saying someone is confident yet humble is crazy ahaha congrats on your top 4 ! and great insight on the video :)
“If you don’t see Intimidate from Arcanine it’s normally Justified” - laughed at this harder than I needed to😂 17:14
Totally justified considering Defiant Gambit is everywhere.
As someone who is currently EV Training a Lilligant/Torkoal Team, coincidentally before it shined in Vancouver mind you, this video has some excellent timing! Just replace the Protect on Lilligant with Teeter Dance, the King with Ghold, make the D-Nite mono attacking Bulky Tailwind/Roost, and the Flutter with Brute Bonnet lmao. Still tho, this'll help in getting a pov into piloting such a team, even if the win cons are a bit different ;D
QOTD: I loved the matches between you and Neil. I didn't know who to root for. You played those games so well too!
Yo Aaron if you haven’t already, can you try to make a VGC team with all Champion teams in the Pokémon games? Like a Cynthia, Iris etc team, but for VGC. Obviously you can’t with most Champion teams because they aren’t in the game, but even if it’s on Showdown, it would be cool to see them in a VGC format.
I also ran Nails' team in Vancouver (my first regional) but did not do as well haha. Started out well at 3-1, then the competition got stiff and I finished 1-4. But I'll take 4-5 at my first event! Was cool seeing Aaron in person too!
Congrats on top 4 Aaron! I went to this tournament too, it was my first ever VGC tournament and it was creators like you who inspired me to start getting into competitive Pokémon!
Hi Aaron,
I just want to congratulate you on reaching top 4 at the Vancouver regionals. It's thanks to you that I really started to enjoy playing VGC after playing Smogon singles before. You have very good tatical awarness, knowing what is going to happen next and what pokemon to bring during a specific matchup. This is something I've been trying to impliment in my game and I'm slowing but surely improving. Yet again, thank you so much and hope you continue to upload regularly because I watch your content everyday!
Q/A: I really enjoyed your match against Neil. I liked how you were able to positon your Iron Bundle extremely well. Especially against his Dondozo in that final game. I'm so impressed that you were able to learn from your mistakes and defeat him despite losing to him in the earlier rounds.
I have always had this sneaking suspicion that the "S/V Day 1" proclamations of Torkoal's death were premature.
Welcome back and congrats!
such a great event to watch- so glad you got in the top 4(so deserved) & Abdullah played so incredibly! I was absolutely rooting for him from his first game on steam :)
You are just so wholesome and humble, Aaron. We love you.
Cybertron truly is the epitome of sportsmanship. 100% a pillar of the community.
Yo man i was cheering for u at vancouver, rlly sad that u lost but also rlly happy to c u play, had a couple of friends together to watch the competition it was rlly fun
I was just looking at your channel and went to my homepage to find a new vid 😅
Twice songs nicknames is amazing too! =)
Close to 200k! Well done :)
You got the next one champ! Was rooting for you and Neil I really enjoyed your set with him
Torkoal is my fav mon. Really happy to see you use it :)
Love your videos keep it up my guy
Congrats on the top 4!!
Tuned into the Pokemon channel on Twitch randomly twice over the weekend and coincidentally you were playing both times. Two wins as well!
Congrats Aaron on top 4! When I heard you were going to play in Vancouver I was really hoping for you to bring misdreavus to it lol
It was super cool getting to cheer on Sempra with the rest of our discord 😄
shout out sempra!!! that’s my boy, was so excited to watch him make this run 🥲🥲🥲🥲
We love you and I was cheering for u all the way, but vgc is that way and ur amazing
I just watched this video without a comment, been watching your older videos... and literally the next video I get to after watching this is from Road to Ranked 2017 ep 6 with follow me Lilligant + Torkoal combo lol.. Just very weird coincidence and thought I'd share lol.
Insane RNG on the fight vs Nino, kudos for playing it so well considering the bad RNG :D
I really enjoyed watching you and Neil during the regional through the streams but do you have plans to cover Dylan’s teams? I consider it a pretty neat team
Yes, I plan on it :)
Finally an awesome liligant team!!! This is one of my most favorite shiny pokemon
The TWICE songs nicknames 😍
Curious what your process is for reading out the opponent's Pokemon in team preview? It seems like you never read them out top to bottom or any sort of regular pattern. Been wondering after watching lots of your videos and thought I'd finally ask - thanks for the great coverage, Aaron!
i was really hoping you would make a vid on this team :))
Thumbs up for the true subs who watch the tournament live and rooted for this gentleman till the end
this team is absolutely nuts! i’ve been playing ranked singles for abt two seasons and got sick of hyperstall and ohko moves so i gave doubles a try about five days ago-since then i’ve gone 27-5 securing top 250 while only dropping one game with this team (two losses trying another team and two losses from disconnects)
Hello! I have been watching your videos since your Zoroark and Mimikyu video and suffice it to say your videos are addicting to watch. Watching every video from start to finish. It’s just that watching Pokemon Wi-Fi battles that has commentary and playing a few games is a rare find for me, at least to me.
One thing I know is that every Pokémon team you used was made from someone that had won or had made a milestone in a vgc tournament (I think that’s the majority of it idw I am not familiar yet about the vgc community 😓). Don’t get me wrong it is great using Pokémon teams and showing how exceptional they are in battle as long as you credit the one who made it. But do you have your own originally made team? What team did you use from your vgc days? I am actually curious 😮✨ I am hoping that you can use your own team in battle and I would look forward to watching that if you do.
I was going crazy with this combo first week still one of my best teams i beat box legendaries and everything with the combo
When I was watching your games your voice was in my head narrating the turns, I think i’m addicted to your video’s 😂
Great result at the regionals and can’t wait to see you compete in the future!
Congrats on top 4, loved watching you play on stream! It was such a cool tournament
I was very excited to see you play Aaron. You did amazingly well. My fav match was game 1 for Demitrios Kaguras vs Marcus Dion. All hope seemed lost for Demitrios as the fearsome dominating Dondozo takes out Iron Bundle and it’s Great Tusk vs the world. It seemed like the game was a wrap for Marcus but unexpectedly Great Tusk lands the critical hit on Dondozo. Everyone is shocked! With Tatsugiri and Glimmora left, all hope lies on one last turn. With the muddy water miss from Tatsugiri, Great Tusk was all clear to earn the Victory. This was one of the greatest comebacks I’ve witnessed and shows everyone why Pokémon is such a special game. Congrats to all the players and I appreciate all the commentators for hosting a fantastic regional. I wish you luck and success in the future.
Congrats for top 4
nice to see a fellow TWICE fanboy make it in the Pokémon world 😌😌😌
Dang Aaron might need some sunglasses for the squad, Torkoal's sun seems to has a secret side effect where it lowers all these accuracies
Yeah, whenever I ran into lilikoal early season1 it was essentially freelo with Indeedee armarouge with grass tera
You the man Aaron! Abdullah took this tourney and made it his bitch. Dude had some natural swag and crushed it. Worth noting I don’t follow Pokémon much but glad this stream came up on my feed. Best of luck to you man get some more Ws
So quick question for anyone, on Torkoal why EV hp over sp.def when it's Def stat is huge, surely makes more sense?
Does eruption work with tera's fire? I'm not sure but on Serebii says it doesn't.
Whoever nicknamed this team, I tip it. These are all named after different TWICE songs. As a ONCE, I can’t help but get excited for that because TWICE is killing it right now with their comeback!
But anyways, torkal lilligant is such a fun combo. I knew of it back in 2017 but didn’t really get to see it in action so seeing it here was really cool and looks really fun to use 😊
Oh god I just realized that lol, unexpected. Also hello fellow once
@@BruceTsai-or5rl hello once 🫶🏼
Would a wide lens over sash help Lilligant hit sleep powder and leaf storm more consistently?
WAKE UP BABY - AARON 'CYBERTRON' ZHENG JUST UPLOADED
36:54 ok roaring moon, arcanine, amoonguss ..... palingflayng? hahahahahahahahaha just ribbing you here I had a good chuckle
QOTD: Not a match, but you blowing a kiss at the camera after one of your interviews made me realize just how *cute* you are, so thanks for that. 😳
Aaron, I so wish you'd have taken the misdreavus team you mentioned in the interview. You did astonishingly but I think that team or a variant would have got you over the line.
Wait is the names for the pokemon twice songs?😍
Would wide lens with liligant be better since it's usually paired with torkoal so it'll usually go first so the sash isn't super important or am I wrong
So, this may be a bit of an odd question, but I love unusual tech for strange situations:
- In which situation would one ever use "After You" on an opponent?
I feel like there would be some odd cases where that may apply, but I can't think of any currently
Also, that Game 1 shows me, that I still have such a long way to go. Recognizing the win condition, and figuring out how to set up for Lilligant + Torkoal to sweep as if it was the most natural thing ever, is "terrifying" to me. When I didn't know as much about the game yet, these things probably just slipped by me in previous videos. But I suppose it's the classic: 'The more you know, the more you know how much you don't know' situation
Do you think Flutter Manes will go back to max speed in reg. C to not get overrun by Chien-Pao?
It's actually crazy that the winner for the past 2 regional were first time VGC regional attendees. It's not even luck when considering how good their teams and play were.
44:44 I felt Aaron hold back a (well-deserved) cuss word there for sure.
Aaron must be a Mormon with all these misses 🥁
Hi Cybertron,
Are you able to tell me why the open team list format has been choosen this year ? I mean, one of the point of pokemon is to get surprised by new/original strategies... what do you think ?
closed team sheets allow for annoying gimmicks that only work because of suprises and most people like it when the winner is mainly determined by who plays better
On game 1 I only understood why it was beat up when Aaron explained x)
Aaron "Murphytron's Law" Zheng
Aaron, is Eruption affected by the Tera? I read somewhere that it isn’t for some reason. Any clarification can help! If it doesn’t you could use the tera for some other Pokémon!
It definitely affects it
Hey Aaron do you think Walking wake will ve VGC legal, I what to see the impact it would have on the meta
probably not well the 2 most used pokemon flutter mane and iron bundle are solid checks especially bundle with freeze dry. walking wake is forced to terrastalize if you use it and you dont really want pokemon that always need the terra to be good
So strong
Ah Aaron's game changing rng strikes again in Game 2
Gen 5 Grass types hit different designwise
Dondozo Tarsugiri seems like a tough matchup for this team
That 2nd game RNG was rough 😂
Aaron's going to start running gravity on every team at this rate
Weird seeing this so early in the day lol
Grass tera ceruledge would be a good counter for this duo.
If you compete in more regionals i am sure a new championship is coming
Why not use Solar Beam instead of Leaf Storm?
Thanks for the game (the first one). I was seriously shocked when I saw your name pop up. You really caught me at the end of a really bad two days. I literally could have won turn 1 because I knew the team, I knew there was a Power Gem and I could have covered this with Normal Tera which would have left me with a +5 Arcanine, you down Flutter and me with a Sash intact Maushold (and there is no Flare Blitz recoil). I generally play better than this with the team but I had a big crash yesterday, worked myself back up and then repeated the same thing again today. You literally caught me at the tail end of a 77 game marathon of these last two days. So sorry for not giving you a better match. I feel embarrassed enough by turn 1. ;)
How the hell do u look younger than u did 2-4 years ago?! Im getting back into the competitive scene and just started watching ur new content again.
He never focused on the graphics of trees like most of the PKMN fanbase did, thus saving himself unnecessary stress lmao
@@SC_3 yea but he studied the game harder than most people and an amazing commenter. Thats a whole other level of stress lol
I really think tusk talonflame is very good into this team
Omg this is a TWICE song team isn’t it
That liligant needs a wide lens. Badly. 😂
Oh wow I'm surprised someone else uses this Lilligant set, I basically came up with the same thing except I was running Solarbeam instead of Leaf Storm, I figured it was a little gimmicky but it's cool to see that it won something
I ran LilliKoal last month and was amazed and how much it was pulling me out of crap. I ran a Ground Tera (Blast), Giga Drain set in fact with Ghost Tera Koal since I absolutely despised oppressive presence of Arcanine back then (I had like 3 answers into it).
We watch CybertronVGC to see him miss 2 Leaf Storms in a row!!!
Shiny Lilligant is pretty
Liligant is focus miss on legs.
