    Also admired you both, put a real smile on my face to see both of you sharing so much respect for each other.

  • @wingchuninapplication6637

    When I started Wing Chun, I was highly influenced by the content of Izzo Wing Chun. Now I am an abbot member of Enter Shaolin studying the energy principles taught by Sifu Phu. Sifu Izzo helped me better understand structure, and I still regularly recommend his content to help others understand. Sifu Phu has taken my understanding of martial arts and energy to a level I didn't know existed. Phenomenal teachers, both of them.

      @igotbluesdevils Před rokem +1

      "Energy" is a very specific term, used to define something in physics. Throwing around the term "energy" as vaporware means nothing. It is the capacity for doing work. It's not some ethereal, magical form of something.

      @igotbluesdevils Před rokem

      No, sorry. The difference is actual dynamic fighting, and real sparring, where you hit and get hit with real force, in a non predetermined context. There's a reason why almost no one uses wing chun in MMA, that reason being it doesn't work. Occam's razor has its merits. The one thing I'd save from WC is the principle of applying forward pressure. Anything else, the BongSaos, TanSaos, the centerline, the embarrassing stance, and all that is a load of crock.

    good constructive conversation. with added value. the wing chun people who only practice wing chun are very dogmatic and don't really know how other systems work. Those who have practiced other fighting styles such as wrestling, karate, boxing ect and switched to wingchun have a much better understanding of self defense and how combat works.

      Back on topic, I completely disagree with you. I've seen normal, run-of-the-mill boxers that would probably do a sore number on him, and most traditional martial arts practitioners. I have a traditional background myself, but most arts just don't stand a chance against "modern" (in quotes, boxing is pretty ancient in of its own) streamlined combat. Occam's razor works.

    The implication that an art is “not that good” because it has weight classes is possible the silliest thing I’ve ever heard. All of which was hinged on the anecdote that he took on a heavy MMA fighter.

    I look for martial art that is forever evolving through professional level competition. I look for training system which should be one on one, with the teacher, and not one teacher showing moves to group of students, ending with students practicing on fellow students. For striking art, the training should be similar to boxing, with pads and full power strikes. The teacher should have good record of producing successful protege at professional level fighting. Boxing muaythai, and BJJ are good example.

    Hi izzo, i think you should learn tai chi and chi kung from sifu phu.
    When you could feel the chi in your body and focus it, especially in your wrist, and move from your wrist, you become completely different fighter.
    You could move people arms like nothing.
    Don't need big body.
    This is why it called art.

    • @igotbluesdevils
      @igotbluesdevils Před rokem

      "Chi" doesn't exist. You're talking about fairy tales. If you tried using TaiChi in a real, dynamic fight, you'd probably have your ass kicked. It's called art because of the cultural and self-betterment aspect of it all. Not because it's effective.

    I apologize for being a kB warrior, but unless the people who claim to teach Ninjutsu are actually killing people for money, I don't see how the name means anything. We've all read the history - passed down from father to son and guarded with their lives. No sane person would pay the Yakuza to teach them how to kill people. Fake 'ninjas' aside, and there are plenty, I would suggest that anyone who seriously wants to be a warrior join the military and apply for Special Forces selection.
