As a 20+ year educator, I can say without a doubt that Sifu Phu is one of the best teachers out there, regardless of content or subject matter. Great interview!
Thank you for the kind words
Also admired you both, put a real smile on my face to see both of you sharing so much respect for each other.
When I started Wing Chun, I was highly influenced by the content of Izzo Wing Chun. Now I am an abbot member of Enter Shaolin studying the energy principles taught by Sifu Phu. Sifu Izzo helped me better understand structure, and I still regularly recommend his content to help others understand. Sifu Phu has taken my understanding of martial arts and energy to a level I didn't know existed. Phenomenal teachers, both of them.
"Energy" is a very specific term, used to define something in physics. Throwing around the term "energy" as vaporware means nothing. It is the capacity for doing work. It's not some ethereal, magical form of something.
Awesome
Respect sifu phu ngo
Two Wing Chun Legends meet, with pure respect, fusing their skills together
Great stuff indeed.
I can listen to sifu phu talk about the science of energy all day.
Same here, wish I could go train with this guy!!!
Great Episode! Sifu Phu is an excellent Wing Chun instructor!
Sifu Phu's restraint when Sifu Larry the cable guy keeps jumping into his interview 😆 great video and I will definitely be looking into Sifu Phu's content. Amazing video.
Sifu , and Izzo wow! Great commentary gentlemen !
Izzo, awesome video. Your gestures are priceless. Sifu Phu, thanks for beaming your Wisdom on your videos. Bomb! God Bless🙏!
The three humble teacher.
Thank you for getting those on youtube in the first place. completed my kung fu journey❤️
i like both these teachers, been watching them for years.
I LOVE that part you say about "If you don't WANT to grapple- then learn ANTI-grappling"-- THAT is what I need-- with my injuries (got mashed between 2 trucks in 99 and I'm 67) if I go to the ground I"M DONE..
I absolutely love Sifu Phu, thank you for this amazing interview. Yet another reason Izzo has one of my favorite channels about the martial arts, not just Wing Chun. I would love to see you interview Adam Chan, Master (Michael) Wong, and Henry from UMA to share their views and stories.
Again, thank you Dom for these amazing interviews. I appreciate your videos and spotlighting others with great insights.
Many thanks for a great conversation! :)
Thank you for this. Great episode. 🙏
This was a blast!! Thank you for the awesome show!!!
If the art works it is the best. There are no true best arts except what is best for them. Every art is effective.
WOW--- the MORE I listen to this-- the BETTER i like what I'm hearing.... like EVERYTHING you say RESONATES with me.. it's been stuff I THOUGHT to myself but was NEVER taught in any of the 5 arts I've studies. I hope I can do this-- Right now I'm IN BAD shape.. but sounds like you have a thing for that--and ways to IMPROVE physically rather quickly--- and QiQong and tai chi I've done too- years ago- and don't remember much OTHER that when I did them- I felt GREAT... so- I may be doing this.. SOON>
I think this is the best martial art video/ interview I've ever seen. Seriously awesome stuff !!! 😃👍✌️
Loved his hard soft explanation. I agree and may add the reason that Wing Chun v MMA debate is... Rules. Great video, and More Jesus.
No, sorry. The difference is actual dynamic fighting, and real sparring, where you hit and get hit with real force, in a non predetermined context. There's a reason why almost no one uses wing chun in MMA, that reason being it doesn't work. Occam's razor has its merits. The one thing I'd save from WC is the principle of applying forward pressure. Anything else, the BongSaos, TanSaos, the centerline, the embarrassing stance, and all that is a load of crock.
when you are delivering pure gold, you don’t need to criticize others.
I got to see him at the black belt hall of fame back when sifu Och’s school used to go and was amazing to hear him teach
Excellent!
This video, the interview, your exchanges with Sifu Phu, it's an absolute game changer for me.
Thanks Dom for bringing Sifu Phu to our attention, what a find!!
good constructive conversation. with added value. the wing chun people who only practice wing chun are very dogmatic and don't really know how other systems work. Those who have practiced other fighting styles such as wrestling, karate, boxing ect and switched to wingchun have a much better understanding of self defense and how combat works.
Sifu Phu Ngo such a Virgo.
New to your channel, loving it by the way.
Great interview! I've seen a few of Sifu Phu's videos before, but didn't really dive into them until after this interview. He does great stuff. Thanks for doing these!
Hmmm. Never heard it quite like this. And rarely ever watched a video in its entirety... but I did for this.
Hey, thanks for watching, really appreciate it.
Ps. I think you'd like Dan The Wolfman's new bareknuckle video, would love to see you break it down
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What an amazing interview.
Sifu Phu is a true master,i know it as practicing with him ,i learning stuff from him almost every day .
he is also a great guy and we thanks larry and jammie to introduce him and his art to the world. 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks!
Thr Spiraling technique is no joke. If you can handle a punch to face with an ice pick, then you can handle a punch from Sifu Phu.
Thank you!
What did you even say?
@David Ejike I think I was mostly clear actually.
@@DracoAlexander602 Ok, I finally got it, I think. No offense intended, but perhaps english is not your first language?
Back on topic, I completely disagree with you. I've seen normal, run-of-the-mill boxers that would probably do a sore number on him, and most traditional martial arts practitioners. I have a traditional background myself, but most arts just don't stand a chance against "modern" (in quotes, boxing is pretty ancient in of its own) streamlined combat. Occam's razor works.
❤
Wing Chun there are two types roughly classification, hard one and soft one. soft one is very similar to Taiji concept in power.
The implication that an art is “not that good” because it has weight classes is possible the silliest thing I’ve ever heard. All of which was hinged on the anecdote that he took on a heavy MMA fighter.
I look for martial art that is forever evolving through professional level competition. I look for training system which should be one on one, with the teacher, and not one teacher showing moves to group of students, ending with students practicing on fellow students. For striking art, the training should be similar to boxing, with pads and full power strikes. The teacher should have good record of producing successful protege at professional level fighting. Boxing muaythai, and BJJ are good example.
^^RECOMMENDATION INTERVIEW^^
Adam Williss student of Bill Graves, Adam Chan, Kevin Lee (NOT MMA Kevin Lee), Sifu Francis Fong (Friend of Kevin Lee), (California) Hawkins Cheung Senior students since Hawkins has already passed away, Texas Wing Chun Dr. Scott Mullen student of Bill Graves (was my instructor years ago), Sifu Gary Lam out of California(spoke to Gary very chill dude) student of Sifu Wong Shun Leung, Master Wong CZcams, Sifu Bill Graves, Sifu Karl Godwin Seminole Wing Chun, Sifu Bill Graves Florida student of Karl Godwin AND John Kaufman Chu Shong Tin Wing Chun
Where is the Wendy city wing chon in Chicago?
if you do the tan sao to stop the hook as he is doing but instead of go backwards (as he is doing)you go forward and attack his hook with your tan sao then it works perfectly,i realy dont like how he is stoping the hook because he is blocking
Not at all, he doesn't "stop" the hook, he redirects the energy. He *always* redirects the energy.
I say Wingchun is complicated with many pitfalls without a great sifu who can prove himself in a fight.
Hi izzo, i think you should learn tai chi and chi kung from sifu phu.
When you could feel the chi in your body and focus it, especially in your wrist, and move from your wrist, you become completely different fighter.
You could move people arms like nothing.
Don't need big body.
This is why it called art.
"Chi" doesn't exist. You're talking about fairy tales. If you tried using TaiChi in a real, dynamic fight, you'd probably have your ass kicked. It's called art because of the cultural and self-betterment aspect of it all. Not because it's effective.
I did KENPO- with a lot of the WRIST work-- and from what I'm seeing-- ALL WRONG.. so I'm glad that after my accident I can't rEMEMBER any of it.... :) (but then that was 24 years ago)..
Awesome he gives Christ glory above all.
He's a CHRISTIAN-- that's why he never puts anyone down...
"HEad of snake....not tail of snake".....
Kinda like the old trucker term of
"The tail wagging the dog"....
[ MASTERE , BRUCE LEE ] , PROVE WIN CHU , CAN BE , ( ADVANCE ) !!! WITH , MANY ( OTHERE SYTIELES ) TO MAKE IT EVEN , MORE , COMPETIVE 🙏📚🙏😎.....ITS UPTO , THE INTRUCTORE ? ...
?
What are you talking about???
OPEN YOUR MIND 😳😂🤣😂....
I apologize for being a kB warrior, but unless the people who claim to teach Ninjutsu are actually killing people for money, I don't see how the name means anything. We've all read the history - passed down from father to son and guarded with their lives. No sane person would pay the Yakuza to teach them how to kill people. Fake 'ninjas' aside, and there are plenty, I would suggest that anyone who seriously wants to be a warrior join the military and apply for Special Forces selection.
I don't want to be rude, but the wing chun masters on youtube, at least most of them including sifu Phu, were failed so hard against Danny Horgan....
I think he was pretty clear about that day, his sickness and injury. But everyone wants to "see" Wing Chun or it doesn't work. Danny texted me after meeting with Sifu Phu and told me he was capable of doing things he didn't think were energetically possible. So, Sifu Phu did just fine.
@@IzzoWingChun Actually you did the best against Danny in my opininon, including chinaboxer, however chi sao skill is not fighting for sure, and Danny has chi sao, more like boxing kinda mentality, he has long arms too, etc, BUT china boxer went cocky against him, didn't try to position away from his striking hand, he tryed to wrestle him, etc... Sifu Phu, didn't even looked the guy, wich is fine, but a twisted neck, is a twisted structure in my opinion, or let's just say, he was cocky... I'm a wing chun fan actually, don't make a miss, but it s was a bit disappointing... YOU did quiet good against his stuff, I'm a long time follower of you from different accs, and however, there are styles I like bettter than yours, you are hell of a wing chun fighter in my opinion, and have a good ability to explain your views!!! Thanks for your answare!!!
@@borgy7085 I appreciate that.
Karate was copying of what we have in Wing Chun.
Hello Master phi can you please help girls of Iran they are fighting for the freedom but the police is beating them up every day and they do not know how to defend themselves . Let me know and I can share your video with millions of people of Iran fighting for freedom.
Thanks
Hi Matt, I am sorry to hear about the women being abused like that. I don't know what you would ask of me, but I'm willing to listen.
Anyone who knows knows. Sifu Phu is talking martial science on deaf ears unfortunately.
Didn't believe Wing Chun because doesn't belong to him.
2 so-called martial artist without any real fighting experience talk about fighting 🤣. It's 2022. People know wing chung is a scam
She needs to quit butting-in. Be quiet and let the men discuss wing chun. Nobody showed up for your opinion.
