Percy and his bounders with the Prince of Wales followed by The Riddle. Percy-Douglas Sills Chauvelin-Rex Smith Marguerite-Rachel York Full show up for trade: www.freewebs.co...
I traveled from the UK to see him in The Addams Family because of The Scarlet Pimpernel! He is so easy to talk to, and made every penny of my trip worth it! I smile whenever I think about it.
2 years ago I commented how I would love to see Douglas Sills live and last night my wish came true. I got to see him as Gomez Addams in Addams Family Musical. He did not disappoint. At the stage door he ws really nice and loved talking to his fans. So happy.
Saw this in 2000, twice in San Francisco, once in Los Angeles. Douglas Sills always spent a lot of time at the stage door chatting with fans. He's a lovely fellow.
This show is wonderful!! And those costumes! My goodness, I love it. I've never heard laughter and applause like that before!! The audience is in paroxysms!! And I'm right there with them! Is this full show available anywhere? I want to see it SO bad!!
I love this scene :) but I still think Carolee Carmello is the best Marguerite. She played her before they brought it to broadway and the role went to Christine Andreas. Funny thing, Terrence Mann and Carolee Carmello played Mal and Alice in the Addams Family together :3
@wincipoet mee too!, he's my favorite Chauvelin I hear (once) a record of this song with the original cast and oh my god, it was great! The performance of the song was great, this was a little stres it? Perhaps.
@PhoenixStrata That's not a stupid question! :0( @sirpercivalblakeney1 hit it pretty much on the head. Each subsequent version has been numbered, i.e. original production is SP1, this one is SP2, the Ron Bohmer led incarnation is SP3, and the tour is SP4. Hope that helps! :0)
I love this song, but I watched this video specifically to see the choreography - SO much wasted opportunity. If anyone knows of a video with appropriately passionate choreography for the song, please point me to it!
I couldn’t agree more! I listened to this song for about a month, imagining such whimsical choreography, and now that I see the footage, I’m just so confused as why the choreography....is so nonexistent. Love the musical tho. Amazing.
Seriously I thought the same thing, the recording of this song is so tremendously passionate to the point of violence, sensuality, betrayal, and despair, I was expecting something grand and dramatic. If anyone performs or portrays this musical I hope they rectify this game of shadows and lies
I'm sorry, but I'm going to ask a very stupid question: why do people call this scarlet pimpernel 2? What happened to Christine Andreas and Terrence Mann? thank you :)
What did Marguerite say? "...someone's life in my hands...??? cheers" Script says 'is it yours or mine. But it seems she just says one word. What did she say?
The closest I hear is "your brother's...little trap"? Unsure but that is what makes most sense to what I hear but its not funny so I don't see why that would make the audience laugh
"Oh speaking of little hope your highness, perhaps you could suggest Chauvelin get a new hat." LOVE IT! The whole thing!! :-)
The best part, hands-down, is Rex hiding behind his bodyguards like he expects Doug to bite him.
"he should pick up a new hat, but then we'd have to redo the whole thing...that's too much work!"
ha ha ha. love it!

" Too much work. Never mind."
LOVE IT.
I saw this on december 31st, 1999 at 10 years old and it's been my life's dream to act in this! An amazing musical, my personal favorite!
Marguerite + calling Chauvelin a son of a bitch = best theatrical moment ever :D
Even the audience agrees.
@CookieZell This is the final performance, done purely for the fans, they were putting things in to be funny.
This is most definately my favourite song in the whole musical. Rachel York is fantastic, and I just love the lyrics to it. So...wow.
This is hilarious!
Froufrou.. Frills.. Faaaaaaabric..
And then Doug with his Shovelynn!! HALLOOOOO
Because it do shimmer so, lol
Dude, that had to be the best 'Riddle' I have ever heard. That was passion! Wow!

oh my gosh. I LOVE blakeney. that beautifully HILARIOUS FOP!!!!! and of course Chauvelin. he is freakin' awesome, even if he cannot win.
"Faaaaaaaaaaaaabric!"
Loves it! :0)
"Pimpies!" He says.

Ha! Chauvelin's reaction to the Bounders -- he must think fop is catching!
Seeing Douglas Sills slways makes me smile. If i could see him live i would die happy.
Rachel York is the best singer ever. :) thanks for posting
@PhoenixStrata It's the second version. Christine Andreas and Terrence Mann didn't come back for the second run of it so it's the S. P. 2
lol :25 and Percy's "Chauvlin. Hallo!"
pour percy!
Did you see his reaction when marguerite walks past him after
he asked" do you stay me true?"
that is so sad!
I love Rachel's voice
their voices are so powerful in the riddle!
Man I need captions. I can't understand what they are saying. But it's still good!
Thank you thank you!!! When the audience laughs I can't understand a word
I know! I would have hidden too if I'd seen so many colors at once! Yikes!
I love this scene :) but I still think Carolee Carmello is the best Marguerite. She played her before they brought it to broadway and the role went to Christine Andreas. Funny thing, Terrence Mann and Carolee Carmello played Mal and Alice in the Addams Family together :3
I was happy to have seen Terrance Mann in the Addams Family !He was great
I like Carolee’s voice better. Idk... but Christine is prettier so I guess.
I like it, but You cant replace Terrence Mann. He is too awesome.
Wow. That's a powerful rendition. I think it's almost better than the Original Broadway cast recording. Almost.
I'd like to trade for the full show!

8:01 Shit gets real.
@CookieZell They're laughing at the improvs.

I recommend the german version. The 2008 Baden one is pro-shot. And it's fun!

That Key change tho
lol. i wish i could understand what they were saying!!!

What does Chauvelin say after "documents, papers...?"
I think its suppose to be a play on the word "pamphlets" but he calls it "pimphlets" like a pimp-hlets as a joke on the Pimpernel? My best guess
I'm sorry, but I'm going to ask a very stupid question: why do people call this scarlet pimpernel 2? What happened to Christine Andreas and Terrence Mann? thank you :)
PhoenixStrata terrence was replaced with rex smith
Oops I mean after he said "Papers, documents-" ?
Somehow I just prefer Rachel York to Christine Andreas as Marguerite
5:55 my favorite part :D
What did Marguerite say? "...someone's life in my hands...??? cheers" Script says 'is it yours or mine. But it seems she just says one word. What did she say?
She calls chauvelin a son of a bitch.
Often I find that, but for some reason I don't really mind it in Rex Smith's case
Thank you! And then what's Chauvelin says "Your brother's........" ??
The closest I hear is "your brother's...little trap"? Unsure but that is what makes most sense to what I hear but its not funny so I don't see why that would make the audience laugh
What did he say after "papers" ? Everyone seamed to find it funny xD
What did he say just after she unsulted him? And also what was the third thing he asked them to bring?
He said: "Your brother's you little tramp."
Thank you! :D
Was this from the final performance?
Do you have Storybook?
What does chaulver say when before everyone claps???????
she asks" who?" and he responded "your brother you little tramp"
Since no one else has an existing comment containing this line, I'll oblige. He says: "Your brother's, you little tramp."
Hi! I would love to trade for this video!
SP2 is poor compared to SP1, especially because of the cheap jokes added, and the loss of Christine Andreas and Terrence Mann.
