@@bennettnez4711 Nah, they'd make a bold decision to redefine what it means to play Overwatch by taking an even greater leap and making it 3v3. The tank role was regarded as unfun, got focused too much, and felt neglected, so it's now been removed. We also heard that double cleanse, double immort, double cc Supports were becoming a problem, so we reduced the role to 1 and made the supports stronger to compensate.

It's never been worrying, ever since they announced the game was going F2P people should have known that this is what OW2 would be reduced too.
I called the PvE structure down to the price point of $15 for 3 missions, I was on the ball with all of it😂
Yeah this is all what OW is. Maximise profit while providing the most minimal effort. Since people keep spending money on materialistic items, the game won’t change.

No they wouldn't. People sat there and had "do you guys not have phones" spat in their faces, and they still came back the next day. Worst case, they get boos and people tweet mean things about them... But people will still buy it :)
@@darcidious99 We are still talking about that incident to this day. It was not a good thing for them PR wise. Sure a lacklustre Blizzcon would probably blow over, but why even do that in the first place. Its like punching yourself in the face, sure it probably won't do permanent damage, but its still a painful blow.
Diablo immortal still made them stupid amounts money anyway. They don’t give a fuck about how mad people get clearly. As long as they’re making money, nothing matters. People “rioting” doesn’t mean shit since there’s always enough paypigs to keep them going
Im a massive StarCraft fan. I got into Overwatch when they showed the trailer for it in Blizzcon 2014 while watching for updates on Legacy of the Void. Been the 2 games ive played the most in the last 7 years. It's really sad to see, but not all that surprising. Blizzcon 2014-2019 was such great time for Blizzcon because it was always massive. They would drop all the new WoW and Diablo content, drop a new hero for HOTS, drop the new Coop commander for SC2 and have a ton of pro match showcases for SC2 and Star Craft remastered, give us the next OW hero and drop a cinematic. Every Blizzard fanbase had something to look forward to.
Post 2020, they stopped supporting Starcraft and HOTS. They dont even do pro matches, just lip service that the games exist. With PvE canceled, there isn't much to showcase with Overwatch that we dont already get when a new season drops. The Kirko and Sonjourn cinematics are the only 2 they've released in 5 years, and those were always a massive event in the OW community that aren't a thing anymore. Basically Blizzcon is just WoWcon with some OW and Diablo updates on the side, and even with that, WoW is no longer in its peak years. Last year i had a feeling that Blizzcon wasn't long for this world because of how downsized it became.
It really is a shame. I could easily see an alternative universe where StarCraft and Hots are still getting big updates, and the OW PvE wasn't butchered. Then Blizzcon would still be an event. Imagine every Blizzcon we are all eagerly awaiting the new cinematic and the trailer for the next phase of PvE.
A lot of people in the StarCraft community are hopeful because Microsoft has interest in RTS and talked about wanting to do something with the property. But i think thats just cope. Im keeping my fingers crossed that this is just a transition year for Blizzard with the Microsoft acquisition and they have big plans down the pipe. But im not counting on it
Werent last year tickets like $800? D4 is so dead they literally uploaded "PLACEHOLDER" images to the shop and everyone quit. OW is hit or miss but to the general public the perception is on a steep decline after pve got cancelled twice. I think WoW is doing alright. There's nothing else.
They had "no Blizzcon" in 2006 and 2012 for similar reasons.
They also ditched Gamescom appearance from 2019 on because it was 2.5 months before Blizzcon and seemingly not worth the cost (ask Bobby).
What would they show this year that would really be new? WoW xpac(s) have just been released before that date. D4 xpac has already been announced and should be out right at that point in the year. OW2 is going from season to season and will be seeing the next hero in September or so. Starcraft and Hots are in Maintenance mode. Another game is in production but really early on, not worth announcing (not the survival game, they started another project lately).
Going to blizzcon with my mom last year was one of the best weekends of my life and this year my friends were planning on going because they missed out last year, this really sucks

They should make a game called "The BlizzCon Experience" and have some demos and fun stuff to do and play along with a Livestream view of the stream with the ability to play with other people in the game with you. Great way to test out demos for new games and whatnot.

shit. I feel like now i'm going to have even fewer people to play with. I have like 3 OW2 friends, and only 1 of them gets on consistently. I'm enjoying the season, but clearly other people aren't. I'm gonna be one of the few people left if things keep going this way.
to anyone confused on why i'm enjoying the season, i couldn't tell ya. maybe it's the mirrorwatch, maybe it's the doomfist skin, maybe it's the new inclusion of free Overwatch coin tiers. But I'm still having fun in the game, just like when i started out in OW2 two days after release. I have a good mental, and I play tank and have fun on tank (i play doom only), and it's fun.

The darkmoon faire curse took blizzcon. The 4 hour queues were just hell.
There weren't as many people as past years because the pricing on their tickets was actually insane for the value they provided
Yeah you don't get to cancel Blizzcon without discussing it with Microsoft first. Which actually makes me think that, especially due to the way it's worded, this is actually a decision that was made by Microsoft which they then forced Blizzard to share. It has been very clear that Microsoft is very thoroughly changing things within Blizzard and it looks like a horrible time to be a dev there.
I quit playing Overwatch awhile ago. Looks like I dont regret my decision so far

worth noting that people who hugely complain about Overwatch are the loud minority. most of us are continuing to hop on and play the game and have fun (OW2 is still in the top 10 multiplayer games right now), and our voices aren't heard as much because we're actually playing the game instead of looking for comments sections to be negative in.
I still think Overwatch is better than it's ever been and I could list/argue reasons why, but people who want to see Overwatch/Blizzard fail don't like to hear it and will sooner try to sh*t on you as a person, or call you "a blizzard employee/shill", than actually engage with the debate or agree to disagree, kekw.

Good, went in 2019 and it was great then went last year and it was not worth it for a bunch of reasons. If they don’t have enough actual announcements I don’t think they would be able to run a good convention.
7:29 same thing happened in WoW. Players in both pvp and pve ended up losing their end of season rewards while being at blizzcon because people that stayed home played more and gained higher rating than them and missed out because of that, although i guess that only affects the 0.1%
But it’s very likely that end of season pushes are very much a factor to consider

Lets be real they didn’t do this Blizzcon to not face the karma of banning so many people.
I’ve been to 4 blizzcons, one of them being last year and I’ll say the reason isn’t due to lack of content. A lot of people don’t understand there’s been worse content years than this one: for years they didn’t make any content for Diablo or StarCraft, ow was dead waiting for ow2, wow didn’t have a new expansion upcoming. It’s a lot better when you hear those announcements and see them live but that’s not really the reason people go to the convention. They go because it’s a giant event full of blizzard nerds like them, there’s parties afterwards and stuff, getting to meet devs and streamers is cool. The blizzcon content is unironically one of the least intriguing parts, you could get all that at home or watch the streams.
I heard there was a lot of issues this year between blizzard and the convention Center staff. My assumption would be that it was canceled either due to a disagreement between them, or more likely microsoft just not wanting to put the funding into it. The tickets make them a lot of money, but it also costs a lot to rent out the convention Center for 3 days plus however long they need to setup plus all the resources to put the con together. I personally won’t be surprised if we eventually get some microsoft-con they try to sell as blizzcon with all their other titles too lol

Attending BlizzCon 2023 was a crapshoot. There was so much miscommunication between Blizzard staff and Convention Center staff. When compared to events like PAX, BlizzCon was overpriced and underwhelming.

Honestly, i don't care if i get eaten for this comment, but i don't like the fact that Flats is always talking around problems because he's scared that Blizzard will stop sending him gifts. You can defend him as much as you want, but that's a fact, Blizzard is his entire carier, Flats wouldn't make it as a variety streamer, he found his niche. I don't think that Flats is a bad guy, but that's weak mentality and it's dishonest.
I think it’s more of a Ow content creator issue. It’s a cycle of content creators complaining about the problems of the game (rightfully so) but then anytime there is a new season, new patch, or anything, they always hype it up acting like the game is back, but they’ll be complaining about the game in a video the next day. I wish they’d just stay consistent so some actual change happens
not a single important overwatch youtubers dares to say anything bad about the game, when pve was cancelled, twice, they took it like was just a minor inconvenience and not the whole reason overwatch 2 was made making the game pointless now

Would not be surprised if they moved to a Nintendo direct style to issue updates. Blizzcon has to cost some serious money and their ticket sales were pretty terrible in recent years not to mention how much of a rut all their IPs are in right now.

To be fair Blizzcon was always more about WoW then anything else, it was years between any thing happened with Diablo IP and OW was even a thing. As a WoW player I can see that they probably don't have much to show this year and for OW it would probably be just a new hero and season, so Microsoft probably decided to cut costs with a just online like many other companies are doing.
Also Microsoft absolutely bought Blizzard and all its IP, they bought Activision/Blizzard and all its games, so I don't know what that was talking about in the chat.

cant really have it both ways, theres been plenty of lackluster blizzcons before where everyone gets upset that there arent big things to share. Either they host it and everyone is disappointed, or they dont host it and everyone is disappointed, but one is way cheaper
