In this video we will be talking about, how Michael Bay and the production team tried to keep Soundwave's Mrecedes-Benz SLS AMG vehicle mode a secrete. However this would be a lot harder to pull off successfully.

As a dotm fan,soundwave was probably the best part of it,the unique design and the fitting voice actor was the reason,and i like how they bring back the old g1 soundwave concepts for him but with a alt mod car,which make him even better,and dotm soundwave is one of my favourite bayverse characters after aoe crosshairs and drift and 2007 movie longarm and salvage,blackout and rotf breakaway and sideswipe,and great job as always,you are probably the best bayverse channel ever.

Bay should have stated that SoundWave had several alt modes.
Or that yes he was a Mercedes but isn’t car due to “Licensing issues with Mercedes” meaning yes he’s Mercedes but not a car like the game where he was a Van
I think he should have lied that it was originally planned for him to be the Mercedes but was ultimately dropped for the movie and that's why he's the car in the toys and comics

Now that I think about it, seems like they should've just given Soundwave his satellite form for the Africa scene, because even without the badge, you could guess Soundwave is the Mercedes or at least some random car.
This ^ on my first watch I assumed he was the car Carly had because he’s the only silver car looking one.
I never saw this cmapaign stuff before watching the movie and it didn't click even when seeing his car parts. Now looking back at this. It's super obvious. Like you said, he should have had his Satellite parts on him for the Africa scene.

Something that stands out to me is that quote "Mercedes would never let us make their car an evil Decepticon" it's interesting cause at least to me, as a really young kid who related everything in my life to transformers movies, having a car as any character would instantly make it awesome, I didn't care if the Mercedes, the Saleen, the Jaguar, the Audi were the bad guys, I just cared that the specific car was a transformer, that was already enough to make me want these cars

@@jonathanbacenty6485 alternators Ravage was a Jaguar, I put him on the list cause that figure was particularly special to me and I never forgot how awesome it was to have a Jaguar car being the jaguar of transformers. I feel bad for Michael Bay, because this movie would have felt 10x better if it weren't for the leaks. And this is why AOE and TLK barely had any comics/videogames/novels.
Imagine feeling bad for the guy who made movies no-one likes.
But for real, I kinda agree with this, dark of the moon could of been way better if the leaks didn't ruin things.

@@dontbanmeagain6335 Most of the community I know has quite the dislike for bayverse transformers. Either because of the conflicting, confusing, "poorly written story", or the character designs. I don't have any problem with the movies... Mostly, I don't like what they did to Shockwave, dying to Optimus because of a parachute, really? - But personally I do with the games, especially Rise of the Dark Spark as it's story was extremely conflicting and poorly written to be anywhere in the same timeline as WFC/FOC. Most probably like the kid-show versions or straight up comics like IDW.

I wasn't a fan of Soundwave being something exotic like a Mercedes at first. But then the DotM toys came along. While the US pretty much never got the MechTech Deluxe class figure mold (both the original DotM and the very Soundblaster lookin' "Darkside Soundwave" repaint in Takara's AoE Movie Advanced line were apparently Japan-only), reviews from those lucky enough to have imported it show that it's a better toy than the RotF Soundwave...and a better design. Funny how about a decade later, Studio Series would do the exact same thing...except this time, the RotF Soundwave came out *AFTER* SS51 DotM Soundwave, and yet SS62 RotF Soundwave still got 💩 on (because it actually sucks).
Speaking of the Human Alliance figure...now, isn't it just odd that the robot mode here is pretty much completely different from the original Deluxe? As if once again, the preliminary artwork took precedence over what became the final product for how the toy turned out. (This was apparently also done with DotM Megatron, Shockwave, and possibly both Voyager & Leader class Sentinel Prime)
This was a good read, I have all versions of bayverse soundwave besides the japan soundblaster. Personally I think the SS figure is better than the deluxe since to me it's more accurate but the old dotm one is also very good, it's mech tech weapon was sick

I think soundwave was meant to be bumblebee's arch enemy in this movie. Since bee is Sam's car, and wave is Sam's girlfriend's car
@@ultradeathboyyou mean that Soundwave is Dylan’s car, who he let Carly borrow, before getting trashed by Sam’s car. Just like how Dylan is Sam’s arch enemy for DOTM.
Maybe Soundwave's vehicle mode was confusing for fans, one of which his vehicle was not revealed in the game, and his vehicle mode was shown in the comic and later did not reveal the Mercedes star logo. Maybe Bay wanted to confuse the audience and the fans of Soundwave. when Hasbro made Soundwave's toy mode, the fans thought his vehicle mode was the sls amg, but they decided to change the vehicle mode to a satellite due to licensing issues with Mercedes. that's my theory of Soundwave's vehicle mode.
I like his DOTM look, the speaker disks on his forearms and at the sides of his chest feel like a nod to it being Soundwave, and I like the chest Design and positioning of the wheels on his back. I suppose if people are that much of a stickler for G1 inspiration, then the windshield could've been use on the chest to mimic his G1 self and I kinda wish they kept his ROTF head and gave him a blue color scheme. Other than that, i still think the satellite mode is brilliant, but the robot mode could've used some work.

nice video man and I never knew this happened in my time as a movie fan. I just waited for the movies never went on sites for updates and such compare to now like with spiderman no way home. and I liked soundwave's car design cause it makes him look scary and threatning and kinda stands out compare to barricade and protoforms
That was a roller coaster of emotions and events.
I feel so bad for Michael Bay he went through all this effort to make what was ultimately a really good plot twist (I didn't see the leaks so I was surprised) but a bunch of other numbskulls

True though I like to think that it's a holagram since in the first film at least 3 dcons had a holagram of the mustashe man when in vehicle mode and same with OP (and bumblebee I think) in the tie in novel so he could have scan a human to make it look like someone driving him

Trans what are your thoughts on the latest reveal for Rise of the Beasts? We’re getting 16 transformers so far possibly over 20 since Decepticons haven’t been confirmed as to who’s all there. Which might hold the second or third largest named transformers cast in live Action with ROTF had like 20 or 25, DOTM had 20. Also can you do a Mirage/Dino name misconception, conspiracy whichever he would fall under?

Great video as always, but I’ve been meaning to ask you Trans, how does Megatron’s consciousness survive after Optimus ripped his head off? was this bc when the allspark shard brought him back it made him some what immortal, bc the Fallen himself said it could never be destroyed, so I just thought it gave Megatron some of it’s power to him for his consciousness to be still active, I wanted to ask bc I’ve always been fascinated by it
Megatron had little fly cons invade and download his consciousness into Galvatron. I don't think that dying removes his consciousness, since he is technically a robot

I really think the SLS AMG really did fit BayVerse soundwave. And other factors such as the voice, and the overall design I think really fit Soundwave. Another well done video, as always!
i watched all of the bayformers this week (first time watching them) and i had no idea soundwave was the mercedes. it was a pretty nice twist, and im glad i didnt get it leaked.
This bring back memories 2007 to 2013 was a great time to be a transformers fan. I remember reading the rising storm comic before the release of the movie I assume that soundwave was going to get the rotf Megatron treatment and tranform into his jet satellite and a vehicle much later on. Can you do a what if Arcee or jolt survive in the future?

For some reason, in the DOTM game, Soundwave isn’t an SLS AMG but a fictional SUV despite the car parts shown on robot mode.

I did notice that of the Mercedes logo disappeared in the Africa scene until he had that when he transform and kidnapped Carly I always fought the robot mode in Africa scene was his cybertron vehicle or the vehicle he had in the video game
So your saying that the leak of Soundwave being a car actually changed the ending. Dylan will be killed instead of being arrested that lead to the events of Age of Extinction. I do know that Soundwave did appear in the Bumblebee movie. There is also the debate of why Unicron was Earth. I think there might be other plot twists in those Transformers movies. Let me know if you found them.

Bay must have been excited to have a secret deception as the car of the movies human heroes, and then stressed as hell when media outside his control indirectly almost spoiled the surprise multiple times. I’m surprised I never seen chatter on the video game’s sound wave surprise back then as transformers games were big for me. Personally I thought his satellite form was the most ominous though. Cool concept overall. Would have thought he’d become a larger road vehicle though considering the size of him in space.
Could you do a video on what happened to the all spark shard that was used to revive megatron and the one which brought Jetfire back from his stasis lock

Honestly, poor Bay. Dude was just trying to make a cool plot twist and a satisfying ending to the movie, but fans had to be a bunch of nosey jerks, and companies and studios kept accidentally leaking stuff. It’s like trying to do a magic trick, and everyone’s trying to figure out what will happen instead of just enjoying it.

Honestly the Mercedes fit Soundwave perfectly. I mean, come on, he's a spy keeping tabs on humans and he couldnt very well do that as a giant alien satellite jet thing, as badass as that mode is. What better way to spy on Carly than as just another fancy car in her boss's fancy car collection?

i like the idea of Soundwave being under your nose all along like that. i'm still a bit disappointed that he had such a basic alternate mode (seriously, another bland sports car ?) but the reveal sort of makes up for it - even if i think the satellite form is the best reinterpretation of the character

I had no idea about this when the movie came out as I was only about 12 at the time and didn’t really visit forums much.
So, I actually really was surprised by the plot twist at the time
The ironic thing is, presumably exactly because of this whole misinformation campaign, Soundwave didn't turn into the Merc in the game, he turned into a Mercedes-esqe SUV (which in some ways worked better, at least if you have a classic soundwave in mind, Shattered Glass, Animated and a proposed Classics Soundwave all turned into similar bulky cars)

At first I didn't think much about his alt mode while watching the movie Back in 2013 but what I didn't know is how hell broke lose about his alt mode. Tho Michael bay was trying to keep it secret as possible no one suspected much in the film
As a kid I like DOTM more then ROTF but now I think like the ROTF design better

Obviously, his design in the video game was better than what he would look like in the movie. Because it does make him look badass, than just looking something fancy in disguise. Also, you should do a video about how the Decepticon Human Collaborators began, with Dylan’s father making contact with Soundwave, to shut down the Moon program. And what happened to the group after the battle of Chicago, along with Dylan’s death.
The best way they could've handled this was to use his rotf design for everything up until the movies release
That trick with the star may have deceived those who only played the DOTM video game since Soundwave transformed into a SUV instead of the car so the people who played it might have thought Soundwave would have still been the SUV until the plot twist
Sound wave is definitely one of my least favorite bay verse decepticons but I appreciate the unique take on the character just like any other. He’s a bit more violent almost. Shame he’s so weak doesn’t he die in one punch him and barricade are made for eachother XD

Why didn't the decepticons use what i will call the "moon army" sooner? To start this off Megatron's plan was to rebuild Cybertron and control it. His plan was split into 2 parts with project sentinel as the backup plan. Part 1 was to find the cube to build an army and workforce. He also wanted the cube because it's knowledge had the location of the tomb of the primes. Part 2 was to use the Matrix to activate the star harvester and get the Energon required to rebuild Cybertron. If he couldn't make the army and workforce and then get the energon to power them, he wouldn't have the resources to rebuild Cybertron. This is where project sentinel comes in, transport cybertron to earth and use humans to rebuild cybertron, free labor and no energon needed to power them. Now there are obviously only two points in time where they could have helped sooner, the first point in which they could've shown up is in the 07 films, but Project sentinel was only known by Soundwave and Megatron, So in the 07 film with megs on ice and Soundwave pre occupied with Keeping the humans in line There was no one else who knew about the army that could call them in to help. But that doesn't give us a reason as to why we didn't see the army in ROFT. Soundwave was focused on the ROFT mission and the human were kept in line by someone else. Soundwave called for deception reinforcements in the movie why didn't he ask for the moon army? At least one mother ship with its fighter would've been a big help in stopping the Autobots and human forces. Now to get the other obvious reasons out of the way. That being travel time. In DOTM the army uses the pillars to makes its way to earth, and that gives them instant teleportation. So you might say they didn't help because it wouldv'e taken them too long to get to earth But in ROFT after megs was revived he went to the nemisis, which is on one of Saturn's moons, and it doesn't take long for him to get there and go back to earth. If megatron can do that on his own in under a day, then one mother ship shouldn't take that long to get to earth. The other reason could be that they weren't on the moon yet, but this can also be swatted away with the fact that the Moon army were the ones with the pillars. And in DOTM the russians sent a camera to the moon and saw the before and after process of the Moon army taking the pillars away from the Ark. So its safe to say that the Moon army has been there since the 1960s. So why didn't the moon army help in ROFT?

Strangely enough, which vehicle mode of Soundwave did you like? The Mercedes Benz SLS or the mysterious SUV we saw him turn into in the DOTM video game? My favorite is the latter because it makes Soundwave look more bulky and additionally his head design is that of the ROTF head, which I liked better than the DOTM head

I think that soundwave's favourite dialogue is 'decepticons mobilize'. But what I don't understand is that sideswipe and Dino were like 7 meters away from the Mercedes sls and they didn't know that it was soundwave even though autobots and decepticons can sense each other's presence. Trans Theories, how is that so?
Soundwave is smarter than you think. “Robots in Disguise” taken literally. Aka Cloaking devices, radar jammers, you name it. Whatever it takes to stay undercover.

Awesome and amazing video Trans 💪👊🤩🐐, 💯keep it up I have a transformers Theory I think that if soundwave survived the events of dark of the moon I think his new vehicle mode would be a 2014 C63 AMG black series for age of extinction, also if soundwave survived that as well I think his new vehicle mode for the last knight would be a 2017 concept AMG one hypercar.
