As someone coming into Christianity from a loving supportive church that welcomes everyone to ask questions no matter how difficult they can be. It hurts to see churches preaching not only against people specifically but using scripture to justify limiting a woman's ability to speak in church's. The most driven and wonderful woman I know is one of god and has helped our community so much, and she got their not only by asking questions but by teaching. My world and many others would be much darker if she and others were not given a chance. The message he speaks is hurtful and I hope that he learns better.

My mom is extremely religious and when I was like 7 my mom promised me a " really good thing". I used to be into yugioh at the time. I had a duel disk and everything I loved it. When I went home my mom said you can't wait. She asked for my cards and I said ok. She proceed to put all my stuff all my cards and figure and duel disk in a bucket and burned it saying we are changing and are getting more religious in the household. Weird to say but it fucked with me for a long long time.

The verse that pastor is quoting is, as always, taken way out of context. That passage comes from a letter Paul wrote, to a specific church, about a specific issue in that church. And we don't have all of his letters. We don't know what prompted that letter. So when I see pastors twisting the Word to fit their message it makes me wonder if they read the Bible at all.

Nondenominational churches are usually pretty chill and not judgemental. They dislike the mega churches as much as anyone. I had my condo burn down with all my stuff. My old church (hadn't gone to any church in years) went and bought me and my family all the clothes we could need. There's 3 main types of religious gatherings. 1. Fire and brimstone. 2. Nothing. 3. Actually helpful and kind.

I've attended a lot of churches in my life and I found that every single one of them forms an in group that has a problem with the out group. That is why its a waste of time and energy.

As I Christian, I apologize for these pastors. They are horribly misinterpreting and misapplying what the Bible says, which is really awful for Christianity. For example, the bit about women speaking in the church sounds awful if you leave out the crucial cultural context around it. That was directions for social propriety at the time, and is not meant to be adhered to today. Also, that guy shouldn't even be a pastor, because the Bible says that pastors are supposed to be married men.
This is why I’m glad my church held Smash bros tournaments. Also my youth pastor was a metalhead so that was also very fun. Also to give context for the passage used to say “women shouldn’t speak at church” they are talking about how back then when teachers would speak in a different language that mostly only men and high class women could understand and if a woman wanted to know what the teacher was say they would have to ask their husband to translate but men and woman would not stand in the same spots. It is specifically talking about how people shouldn’t interpret sermons to ask questions and should ask the question after the teaching is done.

The verse that pastor is quoting is, as always, taken way out of context. That passage comes from a letter Paul wrote, to a specific church, about a specific issue in that church. And we don't have all of his letters. We don't know what prompted that letter. So when I see pastors twisting the Word to fit their message it makes me wonder if they read the Bible at all.

My old church (hadn't gone to any church in years) went and bought me and my family all the clothes we could need. There's 3 main types of religious gatherings. 1. Fire and brimstone. 2. Nothing. 3. Actually helpful and kind.

As I Christian, I apologize for these pastors. They are horribly misinterpreting and misapplying what the Bible says, which is really awful for Christianity. For example, the bit about women speaking in the church sounds awful if you leave out the crucial cultural context around it. That was directions for social propriety at the time, and is not meant to be adhered to today.
Also, that guy shouldn't even be a pastor, because the Bible says that pastors are supposed to be married men.
This is why I’m glad my church held Smash bros tournaments. Also my youth pastor was a metalhead so that was also very fun. Also to give context for the passage used to say “women shouldn’t speak at church” they are talking about how back then when teachers would speak in a different language that mostly only men and high class women could understand and if a woman wanted to know what the teacher was say they would have to ask their husband to translate but men and woman would not stand in the same spots. It is specifically talking about how people shouldn’t interpret sermons to ask questions and should ask the question after the teaching is done.
