- Tomb Guardian isn't really a boss, but kinda a mini-boss, he can apparently even take more hits from the Reaver than other normal enemies so theres that.
I fucked around a bit and got punished for it, especially with Zephon.
The english subtitles aren't actually subtitles at all, they are just me commenting on some parts of the video.

I hope they keep the voices and soundtracks.
But also I hope they finish it the way it meant to be. since so much was cut out and made into shitty sequels, like soul reaver 2.
Since soul reaver 1 open world exploration and cool shit to do. While soul reaver 2 holds you by the hand and drags you though the levels and even sent monsters and put up walls so you have to defeat those monsters just to progress further, which is in one direction anyway. I really despised the sequels, since they were unnecessary and it would have been better if the game would have been redone/completed as it supposed to be.

the young me playing this when i found Dumah i thought "thats so cool" the concept is very neat, fighting him was very difficulty for me, when i was nearly dead i remember to swap fast to the spirit world to recover health, just to realize that he was in that world too, shit my pants, almost drop the controller lol .. good memory

The knowledge that Raziel himself is the Soul Reaver makes this line so legit

Totally Melchiah was scary when I was a kind just like sephon but with Kain I felt like well like raziel, fighting someone so powerful I could not win, I respect kain and fear his strength

I thought Zephon was worse. But most of all, I was terrified of fighting Kain. I played Soul Reaver first, so I only had a basic idea of how terrified I should be, but the game told me enough before that first fight so I was extremely scared going in.
The diologue and the characters in this game are amazing...we just dont have things like this anymore
so underrated. but darksiders 2's death gives me some similar vibes

I know. I got so lost I even used some cheat codes and still was lost! 😄 Then I started the game over because I didn't like that I used the codes and wanted a fresh start.
Silent Cathedral is the creepiest area of the game.
My wife bought soul reaver 1 and then part 2 foe me when it came out....shes cool like that

Awesome stuff. Watching a few of these made me realize part of the joy and fun of it was GETTING to those bastards. When you finally make your way into the depths of Melchiah's den, when you soar and climb to Zephon's lair, the cinematic effect is that much stronger.
There were supposed to be two more bosses in the game: Turel, whose area would be the furnace used to block the sun; and a Sorceress in the Human Citadel, the leader of vampire's worshippers and whose power is to possess vampires. They were not in cluded due the tight deadline.
Don't forget Kain's last fight in the mountain retreat.
I remember reading somewhere that the original game included Soul Reaver I and II as a whole and for marketing reasons they chopped the game in two. It would explain how it ends after the last Kain fight, kinda weak for a culmination, specially considering such a nasty opening. Feels more like a hiatus than an ending

Fun fact: Amy Hennig who wrote the script for LOK games also did for the Uncharted series (pretty impressive considering UC 4 is ranked #1 most sold PS4 game to date) Definitely ground breaking if they can revive the Soul Reaver saga!
IMO Amy Hennig is one of the best directors and writers out there, but she had nothing to do with the finished UC4 product, she left Naughty Dog (or she was fired i dont remember) and the only thing she did for it was the first version of the story which involved Sam being the Villain of the story, which didnt end up in the final game.

CD PROJEKT RED must remake this series. Only they can make a world of Nosgoth as the Witcher series.

Nice use of the Spectral Realm in these fights. Trapping Melchiah in the cage before getting the "drop" on him was cool to see. Even that extra conversation with Dumah in the Spectral Realm was neat. You have a unique way of playing the series. Thanks for the upload. 🙂
You are welcome. In most videos i do i try do show everyrthing the boss can do instead of defeating them as fast as possible. Its why i use the spectral realm and sometimes play a little to much with the boss.

I didnt remember how epic was the moment when kain destroys the sword and it fuses with raziel, this game is still better so much today´s trash, like call of duty infinite by example
is soul reaver 2 it was explained that raziel was the true owner of the soul reaver and the soul reaver can't have any effect on him. so when kain smashed the reaver on him it didn't affect him

The Legacy of Kain series is awesome and the Wraith Blade is my favorite video game weapon.

Yeah i saw that of the missing content too, hell when i found out about it i was always searching for more, searching if anybody had a an iso for it, but do far there is only 2 betas of the current game.
Its funny how you hear in games that they were underdeveloped or had no time do put everything planned, but Soul Reaver? It was OVERDEVELOPED ahahah, and had to have things removed and still came out a great great game.

I really love this game. The first PS1 game I played. After that played on emulators and PSP. I think I finished it more then 10 times until today. So nostalgic. And this OST kills me, one of the best ever.

No, there isnt but is possible to emulate all the PS1 games on PSP. You can download some games from PSN too. I was even thinking about to play the Blood Omen 1

You don't have to turn into spectral to put Melchiah inside the cage, he goes there in the material world too.
I know, i just did it to show Melchiah in the spectral realm where he is all ghostly, ethereal and stuff. I did this in the other bosses too.
Back in the old days when you had to look at a play station magazine for tips and tricks on the puzzles they put in the game

Man I anticipated your every move when seeing these fights lol, bring back memories of playing this game as a kid, I have it on my PS3. Especially the first Kain fight man that fight: first playing it had me at a pucker affect.

Oh hell yeah. This game was my jam. So many awesome moment and memories
As Raziel kills and consumes the souls of his brothers, look at how he reacts. With Melchiah, he wasn't expecting it to happen. He was overwhelmed by it, hence his reaction of fratricide. As his journey continued, he grew accustomed to it until at the very end whence he killed Dumah, and welcomed his Soul with open arms.
Well Dumah did throw him into the abyss so Raziel in his vengeance might have thought of it differently than the other brothers.
One of the greatest games and game worlds ever.
I played this game as a kid, never made it past the first level, shame I didn't get to see all this awesome stuff.

each boss has also another cutscene when you revisit them after getting killed in spectral realm during their fights (it takes some efford to do so, but out of curiosity I did so, and was pleasantly surprised)- basically coments like "back for more?" but still :)
Yeah Melchiah says "Welcome Brother" Zephon says "Back for more Brother? I tire of this charade".
Those are the only ones i remember, there is a video somewhere that has all of those lines.

Soul Reaver 1&2 should be remade. Full of beautiful stories, themes, myths, and fights. I was shocked when I found Raziel killed his former self in the end, "History abhors a paradox"
As long as Square has the rights i believe there is no hope for a remake unless another company buys it...

A full remake of this or Defiance, which i loved the most would be awesome. Keeping some of the original voices such as Rene's Yanos and Tony Jay's The elder god since they have both passed away years ago, would be awesome. It is a pity that Defiance didnt sell as well as Crystal dynamics wanted and is why they did not continue the series but with todays consoles, i am sure this could be remade into something that would kickstart the franchise back into full swing once again, if done right, i am sure of it.

I got this game from a friend in very yopung age, I exachnged Fifa 98 for it and were surprised we were both happy :D
Yeah in the PSX version Rahab blast push Raziel of the ledge directly to the acid water for him.
See this is why I never beat this game when I was about 12 years old. There was no tutorials to do these crazy puzzles unless you buy the strategy book. At the time, this game scared the crap out of me especially the water levels.

I've been a fan of the LoK series since I was a kid. Why did they cut it out? Do they not see the number of views for this video at all? Wouldn't a LoK game be legendary nowadays?

We need reboot of LoK with alternate timeline. With Kain before Ressurected as vampire, Raziel before his Seraph human being. We extremely love how every roots drawn it's Legends.
Raziel and his brothers would be interesing, his relationship with his brothers in arms and Moebius, what he believed was right and wrong and other stuff. But Kain was just some noble who left his fiefdom because of the plague. He might have been a Knight for the King too....

What a nice compilation. Say, the footage looks like the PC version, without that ever-present and pestering fog in the distance, but it has the complete soundtrack of the battles, like the PSX version. And it doesn't have the Dreamcast models for Raziel or Kain. So, explain this trickery if you please. Is there a PC version with the complete soundtrack?
Yes this the PC version but no it doesn't have the complete soundtrack, i removed the music in options and recorded everything without music, then i download all the music from the game and added it in when i was editing the video.
I don't know anything about fog but it has been so long since i played this i might not remember it.
@@paranormalparanoia6028 The PSX had a shorter rendering distance, in long halls or hallways, like when you first encounter Kain in the Sanctuary of the Clans, or when entering Raziel's Clan territory, theres a fog to limit your field of vision. The PC version doesn't have this problem. You can always look for a longplay PSX version if you're curious enough. Cheers!
