PENNINE CHALLENGE - PART TWO "Harmony in the Limestone Dales."

Four young students are challenged to walk the Pennine Way. This was an attempt (before it's time) at reality TV. The film crew walked with them all the way, which again in those days, had not been done before.

A fabulous film. The young people are both a credit to themselves and inspiration for their perseverance. Amusing to hear, incidentally on camera, that the girls read the maps and knew the route, and the guys... The production crew made an interesting choice - and all are younger than would be chosen today. Where are they now?
It is good to have a reminder of the challenges of the early Pennine Way - before pavements and diversions. Certainly a great reminder of my walk in '76. (Aged 18 - almost solo. Friends gave up at Black Hill and Calderdale.) It seems fewer now do the whole walk in one go. It's a fabulous walk whatever speed you choose.
