That little squeal Marissa does at the end is adorable. I loved this movie back when I rented it.

@@edinfific2576 I've only seen a couple of clips but aside from yes it's not realistic and all mind-reading stories tend to make it one thought at a time, I also think they only show what they're thinking if they're lying. If a woman is talking in this movie and there are no thoughts it seems to indicate her thoughts are aligned with her words.
There's one scene with two ladies at the office and their minds really are a blank slate. That's one of the funnier bits.
They should do a gender swapped version. Nicola gets the power to hear men's thoughts, becomes instantly traumatised, and joins a convent on an isolated island with no men on it.

@secondeye1574 the "want" in the "men want women" is implied as wanting to have sex. I agree, women don't necessarily want this. They do want commitment and the feeling of security with a man, hence intimacy as well. This is why men could care less if a woman makes money or not. This is why men are looked up to for getting a lot of women, and women are looked down upon for getting a lot of men.

I think this is the big part thats getting missed by these comments. Hes barely present in his daughters life as a parent, to the point he doesnt even realise he has no food in the house. Hes too busy constantly trying to get laid to pay any kind of attention to his daughter. And he somehow needed the mind reading thing to even get that. yet women are hard to "read" is the take home msg.

How was he even remotely close to being a great father ? He had very restrained relationship with his daughter. He didn't even realize he had no food in the house for his daughter to eat. He was constantly focused on getting laid instead of actually being there for his daughter. the prom dress thing was just bribery as she was upset with him. He wasn't a very nice father at all - theres a reason why her friends were even hostile towards him at the start. They were fooled by his cheap words but you can see the daughter is very skeptical and doesn't buy his words and a little later in the movie she calls him out saying he hadn't bothered to have a relationship with her in 15 years, so she wasn't interested in him randomly deciding he was going to play the parent role.
