Astra! I dont find the interior of astra cheap in fact I go with extras spacious interior and astra has less plastic interior than Golf. The inside doors of astra are soft touch whereas in gold are hard plastic. Both have soft touch dash. I love high performance and i like not to be overtaken so astra u mine.

Each generations Astra has been more reliable and better for long term ownership. The materials in Astra are in common cheaper then Golf, but much more durable this is pretty much the only criticism.
VW isnt well known as reliable car, even the Germans admit that and the figures show that in ADAC list for reliability it is at the second half and it get worst with the years. On top of that the VW Group DSG are notorious with problems.
Astra is my choice all the way!

Thats are just horror stories.. I know a lot of people with dsg cars and they are perfoming just fine... Do you remember a couple of years ago, in the US, there were some toyota priuses with a gaspedal failure.. The media picked it up and were yelling that toyota isnt that reliable that it used to be bla bla.. Every succesful brand has to deal sometimes with problems... The golf is the beter allrounder, and it always will be I think...

EGGBIRDTHEROOSTER VW is better all-rounder indeed, but it is not the better car.
VW has issues with the reliability - as a new car OK it will be covered by the factory guarantee but in long therm it is painful spending of money. The bit more premium materials inside just doesn't worth all the possible troubles in long term ownership.
What I lastly heard for the Golf is that the Americans call it 66 k car, because people are selling it just after the guarantee finish.
Yes, you are right about the dealing with problems, it is normal when you produce several thousand cars per year more people to talk about the problems, but yet, it is different when those problems are common because bad engineering.
As a company car, I would like to have Golf, but I will never spend my money on it! Astra is just much more reliable. Buying Golf is buying less car added doubtful "prestige", Astra is much more car for your money - fair offer and it will always be my choice!

I thought that the Astra has a bigger boot space than that of a Golf, that is why my interest for hatches has gravitated towards an Astra.

Astra is faster, cheaper, looks nicer and has more features as well as better screen placement. I like it's buttons more.
Golf is more comfortable, better to drive, more spacious inside and has a bigger, more ergonomical boot and has a slightly better interior. It also has auto hold which I love since I'm in traffic often in London.
I've driven both, owned both and prefer the golf mk7 but it's quite close.

Golf anytime as I drive VW all my life, also I have Golf Mk5 2.0 L 110 kw Manual I bought it new, day today I still drive it without any problem with the 220.000 km on the clock.
I can only say to these people don't trust to much CZcams crap cause that's all bullshit.Today Astra is better than a Golf, tomorrow that is going to be opposite, it's never the same.

I rented an Astra when I was visiting Germany. What an awful car, cheap and when you turn on the AC it had a nervous breakdown.

    😂😂😂 that's crap comparison.
You chose the top of the range Astra also with 110 kw with cheap Golf 92 kw, and you think we are kids that we are going to believe in this crap.
    Good luck 😁😁😁😁
