Underrated songwriter. Way above most of his contemporaries.
Jo Thomas yessir!!!
I mean their first couple of albums were fairly popular among indie bands, and I've noticed a few of their FOTB on alternative radios lately... but yeah they still deserve more attention ;P
Wilo Polis I agree but main radios need to pick this up more look at Oliver tree he’s alt and is streamed heavily
there are unbelievably strong dad vibes emanating from this vid
Thanks, mom
This was one of the Best Indie albums released this year
Clackson Chisi not even close to being an indie album. It’s as main stream as it gets
Thanks @@jeff7764 , Though please expand, because Mainstream is not a Genre.
@@clacksonchisi4463 indie is not a genre either. It's music produced independently from commercial labels (which Vampire Weekend is 100% commercial label produced from Columbia Records.
SharkByte LLC it has an indie sound. It's linked with the all vw albums, it's a sort of evolution of the previous
@@EvilMonkeyReturns
Actually it's both, music made independently and a genre, but we're not talking about independent hip-hip or independent gospel, because there are too many independent artist that are not produced commercially, so the title "best indie album" would be reckless cause you can never hear them all. Indie as a genre involves the following, it's a diversion of rock, that is characterised by plain, unrefined, raw, crude and sometimes unorthodox or divergent fusion of production. yes it's mostly uncommercialised, but thats how successful indie pop groups/artist are becoming, thinking they are not going to be signed or commercialised would be unreasonable. Indie as a genre has a difficult definition because that's what indie is undefinable palette of sounds. Not Only in the sense of Record Labels
Love how Ezra just doesn’t use his guitar for most of the song except the solo
I know. Yet he has all those pedals. Didn't step on 'em once. (I guess they're set for that song or something. Still, it's a complicated minimalism.)
@@barneymiller5488 i mean, the pedal board is set up to play a whole hour + setlist, they're not gonna dismantle the board to only have the pedals needed for this one song on the stage
They opened up with this tune when they played Cleveland this summer, just about blew my damn mind. easily one of the best live bands around right now!
Anthony Hill that was such a great show
I was there too! We were not ready😭🔥
Having both drums come in after solo was absolutely genius
Ezra was rllllly feelin this one... I'm so here for Ezra having fun on stage he really deserves that joy
@elijahfinch3349how many advertising accounts do you have and why are you all across CZcams
I'm just here to see what moves Baio will bust out and what kind of footwear Ezra is wearing
He's rocking the Teva sandals!
You are here to get paid your salary as a digital marketer posting BS CZcams comments.
@@enkibumbu how to get that gig?
James McAvoy, Stephen King and a band that was not an assault to my ears! Awesome show!
The trifecta! 😉👍
Best guests ever!
that bass sounds stunning!
and a double kick drums in the end!
"Their extended 2020 tour" yeah not as extended as you'd think
:(
Awesome song with an important message. Glad they chose this to play on Stephen's show!!
Reminds me of Zelda - Gerudo Valley or Bob Dylan’s Hurricane 😁💃🏻
Their music is so tight and well produced
That's the smallest bass guitar I've ever seen.
Jongho Its a ukulele bass!
Maybe he's a giant.
i could've sworn this song had an upright bass but it's the exact opposite lol
Jake I like to call it the coolest thing in the world but yknow
That album is amazing! They opened with this song in Raleigh NC they were so good!
Jesse Wilson i was at that show too! definitely a strong opener
great song, great performance
Not a coincidence they played this song after Apple used it during the keynote in the Apple Watch video
Fell asleep on sofa last night and was awoke to this unique refreshing sound that dragged me in.
seth larsen Unique, refreshing sound? 😁
It reminds me of at least 3 70s / 80s songs!
Seth, it was good wasn't it! Actual people playing actual instruments....what a beautiful thing! 👍😉
That was an awesome song 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🥰
So so good!
It reminds me of The Doobie Brothers "Long Train Running"
Thought exactly the same thing, though I didn't remember the name of the Dobbie Brothers song. Was looking it up as "Without Love"
same here, and i thought it would be a cover of the 60´s song "sympathy" czcams.com/video/1uVMJeW78BM/video.html
It reminds me of a sonic regurgitation of every hipster band's sound from the last 12 years + plus the doobie brothers rip-off
Perhaps the Jeff skunk baxter and the rest of the crew have a case
100%
Where would this band be right now if not for step-in Doobie Redo Doodo Bro?
What flawless sounds like 💗🎶🎤💗🎸
Im down for the album, awesome music guys!
i so love live performances from this band mehnnnn.... they rock goood...
I saw them on Wednesday at the Hollywood Bowl. AMAZING!
I love this song
BRAVO
wow great job !! love it
Damn I love this song
My grandma walked in and said “what the hell Jesus Christ” it was at that moment that I knew I was listening to the right thing.
He’s wearing Jesus sandals
this is anarchy! such lovely anarchy!
Great performance
YESSSSS VAMPIRE WEEKEND & JAMES MCAVOY !!! 🙌🙌
*Clickbait no vampires were seen... video was released on a weekday...*
And you expect me to show Sympathy?
YEAH BUT *no one mentioned DONALD J. TRUMP*
I wish that riff on the ezra's guitar were much longer; with the uk bass it's the best part
this time they've excelled themselves
it’s not that serious
I think I take myself too serious
I usually dont like much new music but these guys are pretty good.
THIS IS THAT GOOD SHIT THANK U
I like this. And I think you could do a great mash-up with the Doobie Brothers' "Long Train Running".
got tickets yesterday to see them next year! may cry lol✌🏼
Mine arrived in the mail today!!! I will definitely cry
me too!
You are a shill promotion person.
me too!! i got fifth row and i've never gotten such good tickets to a concert so i'm excitedddd
Wow! OK. New music for me :)
I am so inluv
This song is 100xs better live! 💯
😳 Whoa. Dig that hair.
Vampires, 6.66 millions subs, Friday the 13th is tomorrow. Uhoh XD
They’re good performers
Nice and fresh
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
BEST SONG IN THE ALBUM
❤
groovy af
Nice stuff.
👏
hell yes
the Kala U-bass!!
such an awesome instrument... Used to have the fretless mahogany model. Plugged in, it's as boomy as an upright
maybe another little wink to Paul Simon?
Tight
“Without loooooooooooooooooooove, without love”
how do you make a ukulele sound like an upright bass?
Electrify it and run it through affects pedals to appear wizard when you could just have bought a bass.
It is not a Uke. It is most likely a Kala U-Bass. Thick Rubber strings.
i wonder if it’s an upright on the record. sounds like it.
tim brooks On the album version it’s definitely an actual upright bass. There’s other songs on the album like My Mistake that also have the same sound
Vampire Weekend AND "I Axtually Like This"
Vampire Weekend AND "13th Centiry Monk Gets His Own Rock Band"
Idk if his guitar was loud enough for that solo. Either way understated but this song is awesome
Jonathan Low! 😘
Greta Morgan, I have feelings for you.
Yeah I like talking heads 2
That is one nice ukulele
Thought that dude had a ukalele for a second haha
@Elijah Finch I'll give it a listen thanks!
baio's got a Cards jersey on!!
Love the Spanish feel.
sesepp sesepp sesepp
WHAT ARE THOOOOOOOSE!!!!
what kind of bass is that? I want one
Very similar to Doobie Brothers "Long Train Runnin'" (WIthout love, where would you be now...)
Yo voy a enloquecer...no no no
we are the champions
This song is actually awesome, but I'm still kind of stuck with my initial disappointment that this wasn't a cover.
Hmm...Interesting! It grew on me
Ezra remind me Holden Ford from Mindhunter.
Harmony Hall and Hannah Hunt
Chacos for the win!
My guy just held the guitar in his hands the entire time and didn't play it.
👉⌚️🗣⏳
This was pre-recorded and not on the taping of the show with Live audience :( meaning no one's there!
You can see the audience at the end
@@bm1554 I was at the show...they were supposed to have the band and Stephen King but announced at the end they recorded them already! Only McAvoy showed up as a guest. Maybe Staff as audience in this video? Idk
@@DCWizKid wow. Thanks for sharing this ...
"..ssesseek"
Where would this band be right now if not for step-in Doobie Redo Doodo Bro?
What
and rostam???
I might be crazy, but it looks as if Chris Baio is wearing a blue St. Louis Cardinals jersey...
Good song, but that backing track is so prominent as to distract from the actual musicians.
It’s not that serious..
You'd think there'd be no competition to Ezra in sandals, but daaaaamn, who's that girl in the orange shirt
Greta Morgan, a touring member, known in her solo career as Springtime Carnivore
very cool
The ukulele makes Baio do less hip stuff and I’m not here for it.
The touring members seen to represent a bigger importance in playing during the performance. Ezra barely plays his guitar, Baio is clouded by two acoustic guitars and a keyboard most of the time and Chris competes with another drummer. So weird.
Good, but a long, long way off from the brilliance of Diane Young.
Don’t get me wrong. Love Vampire Weekend... but am I the only one who doesn’t get into their new album?
I love it. New album is a noskip for me
ukulee bass you are a joker chris
Inspired by "Long Train Running". Like badly.
This is a band intended for merchandising, not music. Note shill comments below.
Oh Ezra.... those Nike Air Jerusalems are awful my man.
just seeing twhat these guys look like for the first time...
with such a badass band name, i was thinking this band would look...well, badass. quite the opposite.
Long Train Copying...
The first generation where parents hate their kid's music because it's too wimpy.
