- Resources of all kinds-food, metals, you name it-are becoming more abundant over time.
In fact, population growth increases abundance as more minds get to work solving scarcity.

Governments literally force dairy farmers to dump insane amounts of milk down the drain.
That is very interesting, they do it to control the offer and as consequence the price?
There is absolutely no lack of food in the world, it’s about access.
That is up till there comes a problem with fertilizers, or a catastrophe that causes crops not to grow.
China is struggling to get the amount of food they need and in a few years they may enter into a large scale famine.
I think it's more of what places don't have water and why aren't THEY doing something about it.
@@cotystiehl7260 Maybe they shouldn't have killed all the farmers and replaced them with party loyalists.
@Coty Stiehl
Again, access problem. China has nearly 2 billion people and not enough land (presumably) to supply enough food for all 2 billion. Trade would EASILY make up the deficit, if they weren't so stuck up their own ass that other countries tariff and tax the living hell out of anything they trade. China doesn't play well with others, and can't trade to make up the deficit because of it. This is not a space problem, it is an ACCESS problem. Earth has enough resources and room for easily DOUBLE our current population. It's not a resource problem, it's a distribution problem. Aka, ACCESS.
Access and appropriate management. We have shipped literal tons of food to Africa in the past and the multi-ton cargo containera full of rice and other food stuffs have sat and rotted as people starved because local warlords butchered anyone who dared to come and ask for any of it.
Corruption is the problem, not resources

I believe we need nuclear power plants to run desalination. But the government doesn't want nuclear.
Yep. I suspect electric cars are a ploy to stop poor people from owning cars though.
I always admire Elons approach to getting his point across. He’s never afraid to push back or correct someone who he disagrees with and he does it without being rude or condescending where lots of others would be. I love listening to interviews with him.
This was not about opinions. It was correcting basic facts that people have been misinformed about by the mainstream media. Anyone can go look up the unsustainable birth rate or the low cost of desalination.

Facts is not Bill's strong suit. Narratives and innuendos ARE, when not confronted with smart and knowledgeable Guests.

Bill's problem is he believes his opinions are facts and refuses to believe actual facts.
This interview proves it.
It’s not a lack of resources, it’s a lack of access. Governments, militias, red tape and bureaucracy. That’s the issue.
Doesn't help that when private citizens step in to do things like build wells in Africa (Mr. Beast) leftists try to cancel them.
I think it would be fair to simply say people. We blame the government for too many things.
The citizens could put the government in check in a couple of days in the US with zero violence if they wanted to.
That’s why the government must ensure things like racism, sexism, classism etc.. remain prevalent.
Farming should be left to the farmers. They know what their doing, so leave them to it. I find it concerning when people think that everything a genius inventor says is correct and valid and true. What Musk is saying is incredibly over simplified and currently we don't have a world leaders that would provide the collaboration needed to not worry about diminishing water and other resources. The waste we produce is astounding and it's an accepted fact that nearly every creature in the ocean has microplastics in their tissues, for starters. And asking why we don't use desalination now is an excellent question if you have been following the news over the last couple of years about depleting water supplies.

There is ocean water, fresh water, ice burgs, mountain snow. I'm not sure where you got the notion that the amount of water on the planet never changes, but that is incorrect and misses the point that if California, Nevada and Utah ran out of of water from the sources they are currently using, then where will Californians get the water to water all the crops they grow?

Demand side economic policy babyyyyy! All we need to do is seek out the most efficient means of production possible but no, everything is about regulation and artificial restrictions to control supply and encourage demand for maximum profits. That is NOT capitalism. Capitalism has free markets with as little interference as necessary to preserve health and safety.
You ask who is doing this? Our own governments. If there is a shortage in anything the market could and should be able to fill that demand - it's just math! The problem? The uncertainty caused by current western economic policy and regulation.
Look at it this way: If we have the space and the materials and the workers to build homes, why is there a shortage of housing? Regulation of course. It can take years to jump through regulatory hurdles, to get approvals, permits, etc. Uncertainty in markets due to money printing, inflation, and regulation hurdles makes the cost of funding any kind of building project a risky venture. You're better off just buying newly created T-bills that have guaranteed returns - just the way they want it.
So the regulations keep slowing down home building, the money printer runs, the prices of homes keeps rising, the T-bills keep being bought, and the cycle continues.
Do you think they had these problems in early America? You would buy a plot of land and start building on it the next day if you wanted to.
We don’t have a resource problem, we have a distribution problem.
China, India, parts of South America, and our inner cities have problems that they should consider before pumping out their litters.

@Vebjørn thats called surplus value. Its what the bourgeoisie lives off of
In Australia we have deserts, but we have plenty of water. We have just had record rainfall and could in fact export water.
Our problem is we have dumb politicians who dont capture the water and just let it run out into the sea. We could easily capture that water and run it through pipelines to areas that need it and with good design the velocity of water could generate hydro electricity.
We need less government and more private entrepreneurship. Politicians couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery because they are too busy stealing our taxes to line their own pockets with unelected people like the WHO, WEF, UN and NATO.
Less government and more private entrepreneurship will only exacerbate the problem. The free market in the US is arguably the less regulated in the world, and the US has some of the worst distribution of resources and wealth in the world.
I never understand how people advocate for more capitalism after seeing just how much capitalism has destroyed virtually every aspect of society. We are in the end-stages of capitalism, and this is NOT due to any counter-revolution, rather capitalism cannibalizing itself. This is what happens under a system with unchecked privatization of businesses at the expense of fair and sensible governance.

I’m also convinced our plummeting birth rates are partially by design. Our high schools and colleges are literally teaching students that having children is a bad thing, that abortion is the first and foremost priority for every woman, and that a person’s value is determined not by their merit or moral fortitude, nor even their lack of evil, but solely instead by their race and sexuality despite all other factors. They’re taught that bringing more white babies into the world is tantamount to evil, marrying to raise children is “perpetuating white supremacy”, and refusing to participate or encourage gay lifestyles over straight relationships is “genocide”. They’re taught that “saving the planet” is more important than saving the human race, and also that every animal species humans rely on for agriculture (food) should be led to extinction as well; “cows, sheep, chickens, goats, etc.” cause climate change with their “emissions” (farts), so they all need to be put down… meaning, over 90% of people in western countries would be required, under these regulations, so radically change their diet, and agriculture would either have to quadruple (razing forests for farmland, etc), or a great number of people would starve. (Newsflash; they’re already starving.)
The problem with the world isn’t the resources; it’s management of those resources, at every level of every supply chain to varying degrees.
Farmers are often unable to water crops because the state spends three months deciding whether they’re allowed to or not. State regulations are punishing the trucking industry, and executive orders straight from the top are driving fuel prices to prohibitive numbers. Container ships full of meat and produce have been left offshore for weeks or months, and even the containers themselves are often left in port, where everything rots before it’s permitted to be sent on its way. The education system is mass-producing young adults who can’t read, write, add, subtract, or commit to any kind of labor, all by design; they’re taught that learning any of those things, or working a full time job, is “oppression” and “perpetuating white supremacy”, as their teachers and professors are increasingly only interested in creating political activists. Our shelves are empty, in part because our president is essentially selling out to foreign countries; if it doesn’t come on a ship from China, he doesn’t want it in the stores.
So, seems to me that all of this is by design to put pressures on civilization in hopes it’ll “shrink and adapt”, or that those in power are so invested in their own self-interests that they just don’t care if half the population starves. Or maybe both.
Well a lot of them anyway. Even most of them but some of them we do on our own
It’s not government that hordes and exhausts our resources it’s greedy capitalists. Period. Everyone seems to want to blame the government for everything. It was out of control capitalism that created the dust bowl in midwestern US in the beginning of the 20th century for instance.

Resources have never been a problem. People who keep the gates to resources are.
There’s never a shortage of resources unless the shareholders and executives decide for one
Basically, but we do have enough until God says otherwise

Many governments pay farmers NOT TO FARM THEIR LAND. That’s a real thing. Resources are fine.

@@bradsanders407 England is another example. In most cases when you see solar panels on land, of fields of flowers, those farmers are being payed not to grow food plots there. It's very common in most developed capitalist countries. There is literally just too much product to go around. That is another reason why when C19 hit, all those farmers and ranchers had to dispose of their crops. We literally have the capacity to grow far beyond what our population could potentially handle.
*The ONLY reasons some people do Not have resources is ALWAYS due to Govt, Ethnic and/or Religious inference and division.*
The water running out idea is a bit crazy. Everyone knows the water cycle exists. Water is constantly evaporating, and then it forms clouds, then it falls back to the earth as fresh water. Water, is truly, the most imminently renewable resource this planet has.
It sometimes changes form, but it never actually decreases or increases.

It works great - but the power required to run it is too expensive so it rots.
We payed for it, we built it, they won't run it. Now it's broken and unmaintained.
This is why I say we have the ability to solve every problem if the energy wasn't prohibitively expensive.
It's pure greed, there is no reason energy shouldn't be free and abundant.
If it was, innovative people would find ways to use that free energy to solve LITERALLY every problem humanity faces.
This concept becomes abundantly clear on outback stations.
Set up your power first, then you can use that power to solve every other problem.
Need water? No worries! You have power to pump it!
Need a shelter? Hey, you have power to run tools and build one!
Don't want combustion engines? Hey, give us the clean energy we will build equipment that uses that instead....easily!
