A fun fact about Octopath Traveler Music that didn't make it in the video:

@@fivestringpat AFAIK you can interpret it based on how the main melody / main rhythm (or whatever the core of the track is) repeats.
The melody in this case repeats itself every 8 beats, so 8/4!
You can also consider it a 4/4 piece but in that case, you'll interpret the melody a bit different.
Not as one that repeats every 8 beats, but it'll be a melody that has two main phrases that alternate every 4 beats.

My favorite town themes in the game are “Orewell Under the Crags” and “Stolen Dreams, Lost Light”, though I do like Flamesgrace as well.
I prefer those two because they set the mood perfectly. The former shows the sadness of a dying town, and the latter sets the mood to tense with a few notes, even in places where you wouldn’t think are suspicious visually.

I have been listening to the Octopath OST almost daily, in some form or way, since the game came out. Finding this video at this stage has been so many amazing things: deeply gratifying, an emotional rollercoaster, a lesson in composition (which I got a lot out of as a musician, thank you so much), the brilliant and tender feeling of watching someone that totally gets a part of you that no one else gets right now and, well more things that I won't list 'cause this is already so long.

It came out of nowhere for me too, I didn't follow announcements and stuff about Octopath, and then I played it and my mind was absolutely blown away. JRPGs got us used to epic soundtracks but this was for me a level above what I could have imagined, it has to be up there with the most legendary soundtracks of all time.
