Very beautiful morning for the cruise ship to arrive. Last visit it was rainy and foggy. Love hearing the radio chatter too. Thanks for sharing.

Was on this ship in late Feb early March in Antartica. Fantastic ship. Very different than Vikings “Ocean” ships.

I guess no Masters Salute since it was so early in the morning. Nice little boat. I remember cruising on an old fashioned cruise ship about this size in the early 80s. A very enjoyable experience compared to one of the traveling cities that pass for cruise ships today.

A boat large enough to carry other boats is traditionally considered a ship. Unless you’re on the lakes, and we’ll argue about that all day long 😉

This ship must not share her gps location regularly. I'm always looking for her on marinetraffic, can never find her, and then boom, she's going through the harbor!

Not on this ship since it’s the one one they use in Antartica. However, everyone of those square windows opens; driven by motors controlled by you. Open a maximum 1/2 way. Fantastic views while staying warm inside.

It is fascinating to know that Bronze Age weaponry was made from Great Lakes copper. The Minoan Civilization (Crete, Santorini) conducted mining operations and sent the copper down the Mississippi River to the Gulf. It is believed that the Trojan War was fought in armour and weapons from Great Lakes copper. The Ojibwe and Chippewa tribes share similar genetic markers with the Minoans. This region has been the "arsenal of democracy" for thousands of years!

If I remember correctly from a trip to Lake Superior some years ago, there is evidence of Viking mining activity from many centuries ago when they were purposely (by this, I mean not simply exploring) traveling around the globe, including what we know now as North America. I find it easy to believe that other early people also knew about and exploited the copper resources of that area. There is more unwritten history than there is written history and humans have always wanted to travel beyond the horizon!
