      Given that your name appears to be Indian (or at least South Asian) I assume you're a student, or you were hired by a company based here, is that about right? We like Indian immigrants, in Gothenburg and in Sweden, because they're well-educated, hard-working and generally don't cause trouble ;) I hope you like Gothenburg, as an "internal migrant" from a different part of Sweden I can tell you I love this city, and its people in particular

      @@bangkokchilipepperswhich did you like more Malmö or Göteborg?

    • @TheLastCrusader22
      @TheLastCrusader22 Před 16 dny +1

      @@RenCres Here's some subjective points from a Swede:
      The cities are quite different in size, which has upsides and downsides. Malmö is slightly more than half the size of Gothenburg and it shows, but it's very close to Copenhagen obviously which is probably the biggest asset of the city. But Malmö is also quite "cultural", it's probably the most hipster city in Sweden with a lot of vegan restaurants, thrift shops and indie bands (Gothenburg has that too, but probably less per capita) so if you like that then Malmö is quite nice I guess. Malmö is also one of the main game developing cities in Sweden, and Europe, it's really a booming industry in a way that's impressive for a city of a little over 300 000 people. Gothenburg (where I live) is definitely behind in this area. So if that's a field you want to work in, Malmö is quite literally world class.
      Göteborg surroundings are definitely prettier though, with the archipelago nearby. There isn't anything like it near Malmö, so for nature experiences Göteborg is definitely better. If you're a student, well both places are good, Malmö is close to Lund which has an absolute world-class university and Göteborg's two universities have so many students they almost make up 10 % of the city's population (both are MUCH better options for student life than Stockholm, btw). Göteborg also has a lot more highly skilled engineering jobs, which makes sense since Chalmers is the best engineering school in Sweden outside Stockholm and one of the best in Europe. Particularly for people in mechanical (especially automotive) engineering and chemical engineering, the Gothenburg area is top-notch. Malmö-Copenhagen is an important area for biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, so if that's a field a potential employee works in, it's an excellent choice. Otherwise Göteborg is better for almost any industry.
      Both cities have high crime rates by Swedish standards (meaning: quite safe by a lot of international comparisons). Malmö is by far the less safe of the two though, as Malmö is one of the gun crime "capitals" of Europe, sadly. Jews should also avoid Malmö, at least if they desire to publicly display Jewish symbols, as Malmö's large Middle Eastern immigrant population has made it one of the most antisemitic cities in Europe. This is not something most Malmöites will admit to, but it's 100 % true and it's been an issue in the city for at least 20 years, probably more.
      In summary, both are nice cities with different qualities but Göteborg definitely has a better reputation amongst native Swedes, as Malmö is considered by many to be unsafe.

    • @RenCres
      @RenCres Před 16 dny +1

      @@TheLastCrusader22wow thanks a lot. This was a very comprehensive answer. My partner likes Malmö much more than Gbg but is soon moving from Malmö to Göteborg. I have only visited Sweden as a tourist and I found Gbg to be more appealing. When it comes to work opportunities I don’t really know which place would be better for us lol as I said my partner studied Human Rights and I Communications.

    • @TheLastCrusader22
      @TheLastCrusader22 Před 16 dny

      @@RenCres Haha well both cities tend to have a lot of people who are pretty passionate about their city, not least Göteborg which always wants to be better than and beat Stockholm, probably because of "little-brother complex" (I know because I live in Gbg). Obviously I'm biased because of that, and I definitely prefer Göteborg but it's not hard to see why someone might enjoy Malmö, especially if they can stay out of the worse areas, which are harder to avoid in Malmö as Malmö doesn't really have "distant suburbs" like Stockholm and Göteborg does where all the bad stuff happens, those areas are much more closely connected in Malmö because it's a smaller city so, yeah...I have never felt unsafe in either place, but then again I'm not a woman and there are many areas in both places I can imagine not visiting if I was, at least not at night, but I guess that's normal for most somewhat larger cities.
      In terms of buildings and environments, as I said Göteborg is objectively prettier, which is probably why you enjoyed it more as a tourist. It definitely has more things to do for tourists, but I would say for living it's a closer race with different strengths and weaknesses in different areas as I said ^^
      Compared to Stockholm, both cities are much smaller obviously and as a result, they tend to have more "communal" atmospheres, if that makes sense. Most "creative people" know eachother for example, and often collaborate and stuff, which is fun and neat. Less so in "big bad Stockholm", haha, which in my entirely subjective opinion produces less friendly people in that city, but again, that's just subjective and it's not like I've met every Stockholmer ever.
      Honestly, for a human rights student (I'm about to start a master's in that myself in autumn actually, funnily enough) neither city probably compares to Stockholm for work opportunities, as that is where most NGOs and government agencies are based. But between the two Göteborg and Malmö I would imagine Göteborg is better simply because it's larger...? I honestly don't really know, neither is jam-packed with those kind of jobs, although of course there are other fields open to a student of a field like that too (like journalism for example, which I've dabbled a bit in and where Göteborg is probably a better choice, again because it's larger)

    Great video! Even tho my home town of Gothenburg is Amazing in every way, you cant really see it as well during the fall/winter when its mostly grey, dark and cold. In the spring and summer, the city (like most) will look totally different (have some videos on my channel if you want to see how it looks then). So for instance, the park that you wasn't that impressed with (which I totally get) is really beautiful in the summer when all flowers are in bloom.
