How to Clean and Descale Your Toilet Tank

Hey, first-time homeowners, if you wanna keep your toilet tank rust-free, de-gunked and de-stunk … you need to clean and descale it every six months! And, hey, your toilet … tanks you in advance. (Don’t look so guilty, your parents … probably didn’t do this either.)
Over time, mold, mildew, minerals, bacteria and rust can build up - stinking up your bathroom and corroding your commode’s components. But tending to your toilet tank can prevent problems!
Here’s how:
0:30 1. Turn off the water to the toilet at the valve.
0:33 2. Remove the tank lid.
0:36 3. Flush the water out of the tank.
0:40 4. Fill the tank with distilled white vinegar, which could take as much as 3.5 gallons.
0:45 5. Let it sit overnight.
0:48 6. Flush the toilet to empty the vinegar.
0:52 7. Scrub out the inside of the tank with a brush.
0:55 8. Wipe everything down.
0:57 11. Restore water flow.
0:59 12. Let the tank refill.
1:02 12. Give it a flush.
1:05 14. Put the lid back on.
And there you have it, your toilet tank … and your conscience … are clean.
