  • This switch has a special procedure for removal and installing back. Always test your brake lights for correct operation after replacing the switch. You don't need to disconnect the car battery, but you MUST remove the electrical connector while the switch is out, otherwise the brake lights will stay on and will drain your car battery
    Other brake lights problems:
    - the two lower brake lights are related to the REM (Rear electronic module) inside the trunk, check fuses and relays
    - the upper (third) brake light is related to the CEM (Central el module) under the dash. On 2004-up this gets wet from water leaking and needs removed and fixed - check Ebay services or Xemodex (expensive)

    Very good and informative video. Helped me do the switch adjustment on my V70 after brake booster repair. Without videos of this type many of us would be forced to spend money on dealers and garages for repairs

    Another great video, AND from under the dash! I've broken so many of these switches trying to remove them from salvage yards, tugging and twisting and prying after stuffing myself upside down under the steering column. I should have realized that Volvo would build a complicated switch that was self-adjusting and nearly self-removing.

    • @Peppermint1
      @Peppermint1  Před 4 lety

      That's indeed a tricky one. If anything, it's an european design, I believe Bmw and Mercedes also use a similar switch.

    So I have a 2002 Volvo V70 base NA series p2 and my break lights and turn signals do not work at all. Is it safe to say I should try replacing this part? I have replaced the relay in the trunk but no luck. Help!

    Could you show me how to check the motor fan? Using VIDA and without using VIDA

      Radiator fan should kick in when coolant is above 115C. It will also start spinning low speed when AC is on in warm day.

    now time for a real video...and arm rest console replacement....

    • @Peppermint1
      @Peppermint1  Před 5 lety

      Early 2001-2003 the arm rest cover breaks all times but it's only 2 screws to replace the cover piece. Later years I've heard it less straight forward.. I may try filming it at the next junkyard visit, I think it also helps with handbrake cable replacement cheers
