    The Beatles were originally just Mike Pachelli, but the marketing people complained that they didn't know how to market the Fab One, so they brought in four cheeky young Englishmen to front for him.

    Dude, you should be teaching a Beatles Appreciation class at Berklee. I've been a Beatles fan from 63 on. Yet, not until now did I ever have an organized, cohesive overview of everything they were doing. So impressive! ThxU

      Agree! Except not everything is revealed by Mike. Especially those harmonies are mind boggling. They were so young, and could do that. And the basslines are unique, too. But the two guitar parts go a long, long way to keep me happy. The compressed energy of this song is like a rocket.

      Terry Riley He was definitely one of Rock's greatest singers. The Beatles could flat out sing. All of them. Those Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, harmonies were great. Hell, even Ringo could carry a tune when he took his turn at the mic. How many bands can say that? It's a short list.

      His interpretation of a song is brilliant and that is completely overlooked. You feel the emotion. His timing is magnificent. The only other singer I can think of that was at that level was Frank Sinatra...his timing was flawless and that's why his songs and John Lennon's are so great.

Great riffs; the typical Beatles call-and-response technique is perfectly timed; in your guitar tutorials, your meticulous attention to small details eg the use of "A(b9)" chord instead of A#dim chord, helps one to take his/her guitar playing several notches higher. I am in my 60's and have covered around 70 or so Beatles tunes over the years with various ensembles, but this is not a song that I have played or paid as much attention to, but I am just amazed by the sophistication of the bridge in such an early number. The Beatles were truly geniuses, adding this to my repertoire!

  • @broscosmoline
    @broscosmoline Před 15 dny

    SO good, as usual. For boomers and beyond, the beatles music is the closest we come to a lingua franca of pop musiic. Like many, i can hear almost any song of theirs in my head, and thus can anticipate the chord before Mike actually plays it. That, combined with the ability to note the finger positioning as he plays and simultaneously see a chord/shape graphic in the top right corner of the screen, reveals the DNA of the song in the most direct way. These lesspns have taught me so many chord voicings i can use to compose or to play any number of other tunes. And last but not least, this music is *replicatable*: I'm not sure one could demo a BTS song without sitting in front of a digital audio workstation.

    Your knowledge of The Beatles actual dates and occasions is so impressive and puts myself to shame as someone who lived through The Beatles years and consider myself a true fan. I remember most of but to have your knowledge shows a lifetime of dedication.

      Tony - Thanks - but you give me WAY too much credit. I simply do a LOT of research before each lesson. But truth-be-told, I forget most of it 5 minutes after the video taping! lol

      @@MPfrance Thanks Mike, for you're honesty. I still admire your dedication and hard work you put in to your work. I've got so much memories and little bits of memorabilia in my head of my Beatles days, your videos are a joy to watch.

    Hey Mike - just found you and glad I did. I've loved this song since I first heard it on Meet The Beatles in 1964. One of the things that I don't hear mentioned much is The Beatles BV harmonies. What I'm referring to is the way they voiced the BVs - arranged either by them or George Martin or maybe working them out together.
    Many times there were only two parts sung, but the way the parts were voiced and separated, it sounded as if there was a third vocal part in there. Maybe it's just me, but my brain heard another part, be it the 3rd, 5th, 7th, etc., or whatever I heard.
    Just one example is Nowhere Man in the "ooo-ooo-la-la-la, ooo-ooo-la-la-la" with Paul and George singing behind John. There are several examples of this in their early years before they catapulted into more lavish, multi-tracked vocal arrangements, but it shows how smart and effective their harmonies were, even early on.
    BTW - How in the hell did keep their pitch live?!?!?
