    I'm sorry but 3:50 to 6:12 gotta be one of the BEST martial art sequence I've seen in any action movie. Amazingly choreographed, superbly shot and the fight itself relentless that you can't help but applaud the stunt team and Tony Jaa! Fucking awesome!!!

      The pauses between combinations, and general hesitance of opponents to exploit opportunities to attack are obvious signs of choreography. At the level of skilled dancing, performed by martial artists, I can agree it is an enjoyable spectacle. It is by no stretch a martial arts sequence, but rather a sequence which includes martial arts.

    4:40 is so intense those Muai Thai positions, the Ba Ji Quan at 5:48 to Bagua at 5:53 using Tiger and Crane with the most powerful ending on Ba Ji Quan at 06:09 omg so sweet, God, I miss these type of movies.
    6:39 is unbelievable, the damage.
    Now his weaponry mastery is fantastic, that's how you do it 7:14 is not just a weapon because, is an extension of his spirit, pure emotion, trichaku was masterful teasing the extensions, 8:22 Jian is so damn fluid, beautiful and elegant look at 09:40 this is how it should be used combined with agility, precission and speed 8:44 Taijijian as its purest combat form, every weapon teases another one, the Trichaku the Kusarigama which was fantastic and the Jian with the Daos.
    The elephant part is just super cool, the enemy that fights with that shitty crane style was awesome and the way he removes the protection by taking possesion of the elephant is incredible, this movie is gold.

  • @DevilKrin
    @DevilKrin Před rokem +101

    5:12 There's a fun little detail if you pay close attention to Tony's hands and movements. He makes more of a claw fighting the guy with the spike gauntlets to grab and restrain the movements of his arms to avoid the spikes and instead of trying to attack his padded armoring, he instead opts to go low and target his lesser protected legs. Meanwhile he transitions back to his more normal blunt style, closed fists again, and he is focused more on the torso of the guy with no armor at all. And he just casually switches it up in tandem of engaging the two guys.
    I love the little details like this. :p

    My first time watching this film, I knew nothing about it. So imagine the levels of increasing appreciation and satisfaction experienced as the movie unfolded and expanded in scope while maintaining such compositional beauty and impeccable pacing throughout. All this carried by a beautifully layered story and an array of unique and fascinating characters. truly impressive film achievement! One of a few of the most intelligent martial arts films ever done, in my opinion. And I’ve seen…lots. All characters are attractive and interesting in their own way. I’m partial to Miss Fang and Stinky Tofu!

    For those of you saying the Raid’s fight scenes are “better,” I’d have to disagree. And i really liked both Raid movies.
    The fights in the Raid movies are not NEARLY as diverse and fluid as those in Ong Bak.
    The Raid’s selling point is “realistic action” (if you can even call it that), whereas Ong Bak is more of a celebration of martial arts.
    Rama (Iko) is a policeman, so, although his fighting style is direct and effective, he doesn’t showcase a wide variety of skills.
    The tone, setting, and situation all add to the INTENSITY of the fights in The Raid. If you look at the actual fights themselves, from a choreography standpoint, the most prominently unique feature of each of the fights is who dies or gets his ass whooped in the end.
    The fights in the Raid are comprised of the same types of strikes. After a bit of back and forth, bad guy gets his ass whooped. Rinse and repeat.
    The action sequences in Ong Bak are more diverse, multi-faceted, and I’d go as far as to say more sophisticated. Tony Jaa’s proficiency in numerous different forms and the fluidity with which he blends those forms within a particular sequence is pure art.

      I have watched alot of martial arts movies in a 40 year span and I haven't seen anyone better than Tony Jaa. He's a wild man and there is a truthfulness in his fighting that comes through. I believe what I am seeing and I know he'll get the job done. When he starts taking stance and stomping his feet, I get so excited about what is coming next. He is a very exciting fighter to watch!

    This has got to be one of the best fighting sequence in a martial arts action film ever made. Tony Jaa demonstrates his fighting skill further. We were already blown away and amazed by his speed, agility, stamina and strength in the first Ong-Bak movie and his other movie Tom Yum Goong aka The Protector aka Warrior King. Now, we get to see him push it further in this film by demonstrating his usage of different weapons! He shows the skillful and masterful usage of a sword, three-section staff, rope dart, Muay Boran and some kung fu techniques. It's so satisfying to see him take down these ninjas who are also just as skilled if not more skillful than him. This film to me is legendary status in the martial arts and action cinema genre!
