A rework of Okayama with the introduction of fully modeled 3D curbs and the 3D foliage system as well as other improvements and the addition of the latest Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II make it a big update - and there is even more @EmreeRacing tells you about.

Been looking forward to both your breakdown and the release of Mugello. Was disappointed to not get rain until March but I know they must NAIL IT right out of the gate lest they piss off too many and no one ever races it. Great video as always Emily!
I love that they added Mugello in IRacing and was loving the racing on it during week 13. Always loved racing Mugello in other forms of sim racing games. Looking forward to racing GT3 and GT4 here.
You could see 3D kerbs as a good thing, or you wonder where they have been in the flagship laser scanned goodness simulator for the last 15 years?
The laser scanning included the data, they just didn't build the models of certain kerbs. They can retro apply them as they rebuild circuits now they have the kerb tooling. Not gonna argue it's been a while coming.
Add geometry to the track costs time, money and loading speed or it used to. But having proper 3D geometry is the proper first principles approach. Everything else is secondary.
Great overview of the build; it is appreciated. Looking forward to Mugello as it has always been one of my favs in AC.
I used to like racing but with LFM with Assetto corsa Iracing feels really way out of date with regards the wheel feedback and graphics and then there is the cost compared to LFM ! Iracing really needs to have a massive UPGRADE / OVERHAULL. it plays and looks the same as 2 years ago!!!!

ACC is only good if you only ever want to play GT3 and nothing else though. Nobody runs GT4, or really anything else online.

I feel Okayama needed more time in the optimisation oven. VR has tanked around there. Probably should've been left later in the season in Vee rookies. Are that many higher res trees really necessary?

Slinger is a lot of fun. With a good set up you won't bounce off the chip and carry so much momentum through the corner.

Like this update so far. Love the flow of Mugello and the remodel of Okyama I enjoy too it is no tmy favorite as it feels like Suzuka but with a weird flow to it.
Wish you could spend more time highlighting the details they put into the short ovals like slinger, these tracks have so much more detail compared to road courses because of the small size of the map.
I love the shy jokes like "IMSA cars have more yellowy headlights... because.... they have! Good on them."
I am hyped about iRacing since they are hiring people to specifically work on graphics. The worst part for me personally are the graphics. (Might also be my only bad point really) It really looks dated and it runs really heavy (which is not crazy because real physics etc, it's not the priority, which is good). I always dreamed of better graphics because I knew it would be hard. But iRacing recently posted that they are on it. I love it.
Here's to hoping that they put the Slovakaring in it one day. I find that there is a large barrier to entry into iRacing and it's community. I hope they could address that someday.
"Remember me" is the single most important update to ever hit iRacing.

3D curbs will or should be the standard in all games. There are no trade-offs these days to adding more polys to a track model vs geo-fencing effects and having them be amplified in and out artificially.
Effects based haptics are on their way out. No more false positives either, or effects being played back based on triggers in the game, that although valid, do not accurate match the vehicle or environment physics.

im new to sim racing and just got my first rig setup, enjoy your content. I have AC, Dirt 2, and have been enjoinyg them, but i wanna do some online racing now and i was looking between iracing, ACC, and RF2 to get into to compete online. Which would u recommend and why? iracing seems expensive for what it is, and how outdated it looks. Although it seems to be the most popular, i am wondering if thats just because of the Sunken Cost Falacy. People are already in too deep that that feel they have to stick with iracing now? just like to know your opinions on that as a new person getting into them. Would you choose iracing again, if u havent spent any money on it ?

totally agree! I think its a case of Iracing throwing small crumbs to the people that are paying all that money for it ! I was shocked how bad IRACING is compared to Assetto Corsa on LFM !

It should be noted that iRacing spends so much money on track and car modelling because they fully scan all of them, so much so that iracing wasn’t profitable until a few years ago.

I Love racing on iRacing, but for someone who used to simrace a lot, joining leagues and everything, I kinda stopped a bit... when I say a bit, I have little intrest. While iRacing is one of the best when it comes to making me "feel" the car, it is exspensive. Games like F1 are pretty.... bad... (I mean you see all the dudes ride over curbs fully with tires on the other side, like it doesn't exsist)
And then Asseto Corsa, I kinda like it, but it misses that feel for me, and that feel is very important for me, because it makes me confident, if I don't have that feel, I am just not really fast.

What framerate are you getting at Mugello? Mine is dipping down to the 50s and 40s on a private test session while at a track like Silverstone it stays at 141(I have it locked at that because of gsync). Maybe I need to re-install iracing.

I find it odd when people don't like okayamamama, it's a nice little trackeroo. I'd never actually seen what mugello looks like and I just kind of assumed it was some simple oval testing ground for ferrari to get cars up to speed, but it actually looks pretty kewl. I don't understand how they'll add rain with their existing Tyre and overall physics model. It's unpredictable as it is, rain is gonna either make it or break it completely

Community is one of the competitive advantages iRacing had over other sims. I realize it's not a social network but removing the personalizations from user profiles is a step to reduce the community aspect. Wonder what advantages iR will have left over cheaper options, the way sim racing has developed recently.
One big big downside: the Performance on the new tracks is horrible!

It’s wild how these select people are so upset with iracing being a live service. As if it was expensive… it’s anywhere from 5-13 bucks a month at worst case scenario. Has bunch of free content and you keep everything you purchase for when you come back. Oh the tire model… you can’t play with the limit.. that’s a you problem. Some cars/series maybe more so than others but I’ve had no issues finding and pushing the limits. I’ll take the hundreds of pros who mainly use iracing and talk it up. Use it for training, or the people who come from iracing to IRL and straight on the pace or damn close. These “budget” racers use the same two complaints. FFB and tires. FFB with a quick mod becomes amazing with extra effects for feeling forces sims can’t give. These people likely try it, use trash setups like the stock ones and jump to conclusions. Jump on the irenting bandwagon.
Flat curbs was a joke in the first place and iRacing was always way too forgiving over curbs for a so called 'sim' while IRL they have literally killed people (like the last fatal Le Mans crash) and a lot of cars and bones.
That's why they're fixing them.

sausage kerbs were always modeled, only the sawtooth ones were flat.

I still feel the companies money hungry business model is brutal, and with other countless sim racing games out there, I’m still going to be passing on iracing… great for those who like it for whatever reasons you like it, but just not for me and still watching it this far after it’s been around, I still feel they are behind on key things now that it’s 2023/24…

if it was leagues ahead of anything else then it justifies the cost but at the moment Iracing is below par on graphics, FFB, and no still weather ! LOW SPORT MOTORSPORT is leagues ahead at the moment with AC. and its Free !

Sorry Emily but ! I was a Iracing fan till i realised i was getting ripped off but them . Very old and out dated game for years . Iracing finaly realised they are loosing a large market share hence them trying to fix what is a poor simulation in todays world .
Its good if you like V8s and oval tracks as there is no other good option out there ATM .
ACC are starting to dominate Iceracing you need to switch over to it .

iRacing frustrate me in various ways, but I don't see that they're losing market share at all. Their growth over the last 3 years has been astronomical.
You just complained about "only good if you like ovals amd v8s", yet ACC only has gt3 cars.... Okay buddy.

I find it rather frustrating and sad at the same time that iRacing still appears to be AT BEST, 10-15 years behind their competition (such as Assetto Corsa 1 and ACC), while charging the most egregiously and being one of the longest running sim racing games in existence. It's both highly insulting and disheartening at the same time to be able to comprehend the idea that iRacing still exists, in every way imaginable. Until they drop the sub fee 95% and charge the entire content out for $25 usd as opposed to $9000 usd or whatever shameless scam number it is, it's just trash. You'd think for what they charge it would be an experience second to none, but it's an experience second to an arcade machine at BEST, which is highly insulting to anyone in the sim racing community but because people have already spent hundreds of dollars on it, they blindly swear by it like idiots.
Is it just me? Or does iRacing look like a 30 year old sim? I think it looks like you're racing a watercolour painting with all pastaly colours and stuff...

How insulting 🤣 No my weapon of choice for online is ACC/LFM and offline AMS2. Actually the reason I don't like the colours is more likely to do with me being a photographer and being a little overly obsessed with how things look. That doesn't necessarily make me a half witted sim racer.

@@thomasberry8873, in comparison to ACC and Rf2. Heck, for all of its continued problems, even AMS2 has cars that you can drive to and past the limit and still bring back in a reasonable manner. The way to be fast in iRacing is simply not the way to be fast in most cars in real life (with some notable exceptions).
So you will play what other fully built out competitive sim racer ? Oh that’s right there isn’t another.
