A tribute to one of the best creators on the platform. Hopefully none of it comes off as too creepy! I really tried to make sure that I paid respect to Lazy without going into creeper territory.
After 7 months in development, hopefully it will have been worth the wait. I even restarted the script completely from scratch because I wasn't happy with it! I hope you guys enjoy, because I really poured my everything into it. Coming home from 8 hours of work just to put a few into this video was rough, but at the same time so rewarding.

So glad a viewer got a hold of me to watch this. First of all, I'm so appreciative that you spread credit where it's due, to my amazing staff and creative collaborators. I can only say thank you for all the kind words, and marvel at all the neurons you and I seem to share lol. I can tell you're too hard on yourself the same way I am, and that you have the same fire to "push through all the crap" anyway so that you can create, even if it might cause burnout. But burnout's no fun! The end of the video was seriously scary in how comprehensively you captured all the sentiments and struggles I've had to come to terms with in my mental health journey. I just hope you can turn all that wisdom inwards toward yourself too. You absolutely deserve to talk to yourself the way you talked to me in this video, and that goes for everyone. How frustrating that we can be so compassionate to others, but then turn around and use an entirely different lexicon towards ourselves!! It's a worthwhile creative exercise to talk to ourselves as if we are literally another person, someone that we care about. What would you *literally* say to a friend going through your current struggle?
That being said, the timing of this was perfect. All the time, I'm hoping that today is the day I can get my creative momentum back - and blasts of positivity like this make me more and more confident that the day is coming sooner than later. Thank you 💜

Happiness is a fleeting thing. It's cruel, really; that ultimate goal of simply being happy cannot last. The feeling fades, and over time that thing which made you so elated is but a distant memory; doing nothing more for your psyche than the lunch you ate just yesterday. I've been on this earth for 24 years now, and there have been many things in my time that have made me happy. Loves I've had, friendships, and watching my first video blow up to name but a small few. At this point, I cannot remember how happy I was at the time at which they happened. I'll never truly be able to remember how it made me feel to send my mvm video to that first person and have them say it was amazing. And yet. Somehow I know. Somehow I know that on this day, July 22nd, 2022, I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life. Because today was the day where, after pouring seven months into trying to make the best video I could, LazyPurple himself said it was perfect live on stream after reacting to it.

That whole mental health talk hits home with me a lot.
I am someone who also suffers from asperger and a lot of things you mention affect me as well, I got to the point where I am so lazy due to me constantly feeling like me not doing anything productive is wrong but when I do anything productive, I feel like it's not good enough and throw it out, going back to doing nothing. It hurts a lot mentally and put me in a slum for 3 years.
But thanks to Lazy talking about the importance of mental health, I been better, I'm doing better and while I still struggle with being productive and not being proud of my work, each day I'm getting better at dealing with it and hearing another content creator I like also suffers from the same thing I do gives me hope that I can break my cycle and start producing the content I been wanting to do for a long time and I can hopefully be proud of it.
I have a video game addiction and its hard to break. half the time, I don't even enjoy it; its just pure addiction

As someone who also has Aspergers, school essays and presentations always seem make me feel horrible about myself. I wouldn’t even be able to pick a topic unless it was forced, and I spend hours on something that I would throw away because it “wasn’t good enough”. I am still at a young age though and are not going through as much as you are, but I definitely understand the feeling.

I'm not sure if I have Asperger or ADHD since I wasonly diagnosed at 3 years old for "focus issues".
But what you said just there? It almost sounds like a carbon copy of my own life, it is almost scary to think that others are in the same boat as I.
I wanted to do art for a long time but never got around to it, the only thing I learned over these 3 past years is just a bit of rudimentary video editing.
As someone with adhd, it makes it really Fucking hard to get shit done.

Lazy was the reason I play TF2, back when I was recommended “meet them all” and finished it I was instantly hooked in TF2, a few weeks later I saw “how it feels to play pyro” in my recommendation and while I was watching I was absolutely stunned by the quality of the video then watched all of the others in the span of 3 days and they were so good to the point I downloaded the game and to this day I still play it almost every day, I have so much respect for him and god damn am I exited for “how it feels to play medic.”

The video that introduced me to TF2 was "The Art of Spychecking" by the Winglet but after watching the Meet the Team videos I was like ok, these characters and stuff are pretty cool, then I discovered Lazy's content and the instant I was done with How it Feels to Play Spy I rushed over to my PC and started playing Casual with 70 FOV, viewmodels taking up half of my screen and no idea how anything beyond the most basic mechanics worked. Truly a testament to Lazy's video quality that so many were either introduced to, or were finally pushed to start playing TF2 because of him.

I hope LazyPurple gets to see this video and just know how much we truly appreciate him not only as content creator or entertaining personality within the community but just as a human being. His perseverance through hard times and the ability to just produce content on quality levels never seen before within our community. He truly is a gem in this otherwise unforgiving world and I hope he takes all the time he needs to continue doing what he loves. Mental health is no joke and I'm glad he's taking the right steps and also taking his time to recover. I myself have been a fan of LazyPurple for a really long time ever since his earlier SFM days, that's when he took the 4 year hiatus. When he returned with his video ''TF2 is a Timeless Masterpiece'', it nearly felt like a new era for Team Fortress 2 has begun and mind you that's a video that is 4 years old now, to think he's still one upping that level of quality with each following upload is mind-blowing. Even his most recent upload, an hour long compilation of gameplays, I couldn't stop rewatching it because of just how entertaining it was and how well edited too. All I can say is thank you LazyPurple for making the awesome videos throughout the years, you may not know me but your content has truly pulled me through some of the tougher times I went through. Would love to see you return with SFM content as well but you do you. And thank you Pride_ for making this video, you're truly getting better at this too. Don't be too hard on yourself

lag and crashing ruined the game for me,, oh and am not a person who's like "oh no small lag spike when theres 20 people 1 feet away from each other!!11" its more like my laptop cant handle tf2 itself existing, so yeah that instantly ruins my fun :/

Lazypurple has always been a beacon of hope, for someone like me. For someone who has to force themselves to sit down and stare at an editing bay for hours on end just to get anything done, but still has high hopes and dreams of making content of my own someday. It's surreal... yet comforting to see that people Lazy inspired have become an inspiration themselves. Seeing what you can do, is just as much of a beacon of hope as Lazy himself. Thank you for such a wholesome video about someone that deserves such heavy affection. You made a lot of points I fully agree with; just seeing even how much effort it takes to make just ONE frame of his stuff gives me a headache just thinking about it and I can't imagine how many headaches any SFM user has to deal with on a daily basis. Even your animation with medic here matching your words seems like a hassle, but either way, thank you for doing it. It was content people can enjoy.
But I believe you deserve your own message. Thank you for your own content and don't fret too much about what you put out yourself; you've clearly shown your own passion and kindness that will reach others. I believe in you, despite this being our first meeting.
As a side, I really never got the explanation people had for disliking Lazy's advice being "bad." Like you said yourself, it... doesn't feel like he really gives bad advice to anyone in any way. But I'm not a super hardcore TF2 player anymore and maybe the ones complaining only played Mann vs Machine; which is another beast entirely from regular TF2. But I dunno. I never knew about TF2, but how it feels to play spy is the first time I was exposed to the game when it randomly popped up on my home page. It’s cool to think that I could have never clicked it and never gotten in love with this amazing game. 2543 hours later, I am still enjoying and learning new strategies and concepts. I have ADHD myself, and the issues you described yourself as having in the 'Mental Health' section (along with many of the things Lazy himself has described going through) are shockingly accurate, and are perhaps the best description I've ever heard of the creativity and work experience I've had. Props to y'all for the accurate description, been looking for a way to articulate the feeling for quite a while now.

This was truly an amazing video that touched on so many things, I just wanted to say that my favorite TF2 creator is definitely Kitty0706 for his credit to the SFM community. I love every creator who puts their heart into the things that they love, but i'd be lying if I said I didn't check his youtube account every now and again and wish by some form of divine intervention/miracle that he had a new upload and if you knew me IRL you'd know that I am not a man who hopes on divinity and miracles... I love all of these creators and am glad you put this appreciation video up because if I could have done a video like that for Kitty I would have. Great video man, can't wait for the next one

Like you and many other people in the comment, I too have aspergers, It has affected me both by how I'm treated and how I act. Usually I will put myself down for being stupid, or dumb, or even unskillful though I work exceptionally hard on a webcomic, and it usually puts me down. Well, it should but youtubers such as LazyPurple and yourself have taught me that whatever I put out is okay as long as I put as much effort in my projects as I can. I hope one day I'm able to create quality content, and even get past some of my self doubt, even so, this video has helped me appreciate the internet a lot more for such wonderful people and chances at fantastic endeavors. Thank you, even if this video wasn't for me.
I relate to a lot of the same issues regarding mental health. While I do not make TF2 videos, my background and upbringing is largely revolved around TF2 CZcamsrs, YTPs, and similar "high effort" content that you brought up. A lot of people in those scenes are not afraid of talking about what's going on in their lives and I really admire that about people. It takes a lot to put yourself out there like that. CZcams videos about other CZcamsrs and really diving into that space and community is one of my favorite things about the platform. It says a lot when my style of presentation and preferences could be totally different from somebody else's, but the fact that we're on the same platform still allows us an opportunity for bonding. I'd say our values when it comes to video making is pretty similar so a lot of this hit pretty close to home. I could even tell you were using Sony Vegas before you showed your timeline in the video because I know that program so well in its functionality, I can even spot the odd error here and there and know exactly what happened or what went wrong. That to me is very fun. Hope to see more from you soon and Happy Holidays!

To be honest... I am glad i got reccomended this video... My focus instantly became more fixated to the video at the "Mental Health" part (mainly when I heard the mention of "Aspergers"), and I am going to tell you straight, it is very hard to be both entertained and pay attention to what your doing when you have Aspergers, before I became 12/13 (2/3 years ago) I was more into being more active in stuff, but when highschool hit last year, I decided to not focus on alot more than school (because I worry my "hyper-active mind" [according to me] would do something stupid), and after I turned 12/13 I realized that things would get tough if I decided to go with my mind (at the time I was thinking I could try to make content), and just turning 15, I do have some more realizations in life that I use to when I was younger...
I have no idea where I'm going with this comment, but you are doing well at maintaining stuff that others probably couldn't (even if they do or don't have any mental issues like autism or depression), all I can say is that things would get better when time goes by hopefully

It is SUCH a pain to get yourself to make a video and what's weird and frustrating is when you do the first step and start and that first bit of continuing is even harder for whatever reason.
I'm not in any way good at making CZcams videos, but you and lazy purple are two of my biggest inspirations to keep practicing the thing I like to do the most. It's been quite some time now I wanted to do a parody of the How It FEELS, and this one video inspired me to do one.
Tho, to be honest, this video really got me to the verge of tears. I love LazyPurple (and his Team) and his content since quite some time now. His stuff helped me go very tough times where everything was just a bunch of dark piles of shit. And I'm very happy someone could make an appreciation letter to him, because i couldn't have done it myself, or not as good as you.

I have played tf2 for like an hour and still love watching LazyPurple’s content.
As a person with Autism myself, who also has a deep love for Lazy’s vids and is looking to get experience as a writer myself, I understand both your and Lazy’s pains as creators and the toils it makes upon your mind, to be so consumed with your craft and your passions of said craft that you really start to doubt yourself if you really actually like it or if you are just killing time by saying you like doing this but feeling like you are lying to yourself.
I keep have books worth of ideas for settings, characters, concepts, morals, writing techniques and tropes, and the whole nine yards…and I just can’t be bothered most days to get up and actually put in the work.
But seeing you, a creative person with the same thing I have as well as most of the problems I have…makes me feel a bit more seen in the world.
I am not going out to do the things I want to do just yet, hell I got inspired to write this novel of a comment. But I hope I can take some of that passion and make something that’ll at least impact one person that decides to see it.
I don't even play tf2 and I love LazyPurple's work, he makes some of the best animations I've seen... (and I'm old so I've seen a lot) ...and I hope he's able to continue to do so for as long as possible.

Lazy makes some amazing content. His videos are so jam-packed with funny jokes, that I find myself constantly showing friends clips of them as a reaction to things that happen daily.
And you, Pride. The inspiration from Lazy can be seen all over your content, and it's not a bad thing. I do enjoy your content a lot, and the love shown in this video is very relatable to me.
Hope both you and Lazy get to push through your mental issues, for dedication like yours is what makes this platform great. Remember, however, that it's okay to take breaks. Mental health is a resource, let it recharge every now and then. Self-care is a must, not a luxury, and even if it was, you guys have earned it.
Just remember to schedule your breaks, so they don't suddenly turn months long.

I was just asking myself, when is gonna LazyPurple come back then your video got recommended I watched your whole video and I have to say, your content isn't the best and not the worst but it's yours. You put a lot of hours to videos to just make people happy, not a lot but if you will wait more you will be probably kinda popular and I don't know if you care about recognition or money, you deserve it. Alright, that's it, I'm rewatching all the "How it feels" videos
personally i get this mental health stuff with sfm, i really kinda set the bar high and then when one thing goes slightly wrong i always notice it at its worst.
Another thing i noticed as you were explaining at 5:40 the sticky lazy shoots out doesnt even killthe heavy the medic uses the rest of his uber on the pyro who kills the heavy
people never get its hard to get mood to animate or even draw, it takes so long cause you either just never get satisfied with result and continue to polish it or you just make yourself to do it but you are not enjoying it as much meaning you become tense and pretty much begin to hate what you are creating just becouse you want to finally be done with it, or you just enjoy drawing or animating or both and it itself is fun to you (I wish I was that type of person)
I remember I made a comment on his engineer video about how "weirdly motivational" his videos can be, then a day later he responded and I was as happy as a pig in shit. Him just simply responding made that day unforgettable.

and man, that memory feels like a fever dream
personally for a very long time i didnt have a computer but i watched tf2 on my tv until i wasnt aloud to watch youtube, then i got a laptop to poorly run tf2 based roblox games and about another 5 years later i got a k12 computer and i finally got to play tf2 on that for about a year and a half and here i am now. 3 months ago i got my very own high end gaming pc with tf2 and more options, its been a good long run even if i have interacted with tftubers more then the game at this point. now my parents are divorced and i get to watch youtube again. all uphill from here
