This lens does peak my interest (although I have toooo many lenses) and I was wondering if the optical performance ( especially in the corners and wide open) would make it suitable for astrophotography? Best.

How does this Viltrox 13mm match against the Fuji 8-16mm f2.8? I’m curious because I use the 8-16mm for real estate work.

Hello Ken do you have any recommendations on iMacs was looking for an older model preferably new old stock 2019 or whatever is available.
Got tech issues not sure yet if it's wifi or devices or both, told a tad to much truth an everything's gone weird, keep getting signed outa wifi an iPad an eBay an we'll everything tried all the usual resets, it may be an application waiting to be installed or needs an update but as I have not internet can't resolve at present.

Did you end up selling your 16mm for this? I can’t decide if I want the 16mm Sigma, or this 13mm for about $50 more.
If only have to choose one between viltrox 13mm f1.4 vs sigma 16mm f1.4, which one is the best choice.

Random question. Does the 500mm nikkor mirror lens adapt to gfx well?
it does NOT, no
With a 13mm lens I would not need autofocus since the Field of View will be almost always in focus anyway. So I am wondering how it stacks up to the Samyang or Rokimon 14 or 12mm
How well does it perform adapted to the GFX?
Not sure why people complain about a long review. You can always speed up the playback, for slow talkers anyway.
If they put a fuji sticker on it and charged a thousand dollars, I'd still have bought it. One of the best wide angle primes I've ever come across.

Great that you like it. One thing I do wonder though ... does it suffer from the purple fringing that the 23 suffers at wider apertures? I love that lens but the CA can be obnoxious and very obvious in the wrong circumstances. If they have managed to a good job with that this will be on my shopping list
Its been a while since you did a video on it, wonder if any of the recent lenses you've reviewed recently make the wonder lens list. Has the list expanded?

From what I've been hearing from those chosen to get an advanced copy...they are going to sell the hell out of this lens.
Is it good for video? My guess is....if it is like the 24mm Viltrox.....heck yes. I hear it is kind of heavy. With all that glass inside, it should be.

I've been taking I'veNeverMetKen and it really works. Keep up the vitamin C, D and Zinc. Get off that diet soda....it makes you gain weight. Get some Gatoraid to hydrate.

Nice to see you back. I had covid 3 months ago, and am still recovering now as it made me seriously ill. It's such a bizarre illness, affecting some mildly, and others severely!
The Viltrox lens looks compelling, although i do wonder why it is more expensive than the other viltrox lenses? Looks good though!
Bcuz 13mm is more difficult to make and sales volume wont be as high as the normal focal length.
Thanks for your fab review. Nice to here you are feeling better. You’ve always been bang on point about lenses for me. I really love my daguerreotype achromat lens with k&f concept adapter, and now have a nice collection of vintage lenses. I’m very tempted to buy this to replace my samyang 12mm.

I was just about to get the Fuji 14mm, when I bumped into this review of yours. Great to see a photo review, god I loved your old Nikon lens "suggestions". New Ken is not angry, but just as funny. More at peace.... Anyway! What's better for jaw dropping landscape photography? Fuji 14 or Viltrox 13? I always stop my lenses down to f/5.6-6.4, don't mind the weight. Thank you!
I care about micro contrast, depth, colour rendition. BTW, you know the videos you make about waves and science. You should do something like that explaining the mysteries of microcontrast. In my mind, it's what's responsible for the effect of depth in a deep composition. It would be great to watch you fully unpack the phenomenon.
The Viltrox is no Fuji, picture quality wise. But find out for yourself:-).

Samyang 12mm F2 AF or the Viltrox 13mm F1.4?
Samyang is sharper in the very middle, (when both are F2) Viltrox is sharper throughout the frame especially corners. Viltrox has purple fringing, Samyang does not. Samyang doesn't have much LoCa or flaring and coma is better controlled. Colours are warmer on the Samyang, cooler on the Viltrox, neither is neutral. Viltrox focuses faster, which can be a downside on any camera older than the X-T3 as you can't change the focus speed and sensitivity in the menu, if you need a wide angle for cinematic video, the Samyangs are the only option
