  • Pre-war racing and vintage road cars at VSCC Loton Park hillclimb are recalled in this video. The VSCC (Vintage Sports Car Club) stages hillclimbs at various venues throughout the year, and Loton Park in Shropshire has regularly hosted pre-war VSCC-era cars for some years now. As my son (13) and I both like pre-war cars, and pre-war racing and sportscars in particular, we always try and pop over to Loton Park when there's a VSCC meeting taking place.
Competing cars that feature here include ERA, Bugatti Type 51, many Austin 7 and Riley -based specials, several Bentleys, and a wonderful assortment of one-off specials such as "Maggot", "Wasp", "Grannie" and the Singer-based "Bantam", to name just a few. Don't miss the footage of the ERA being warmed up and also out on the course.
Of course in addition to all the VSCC racing cars in attendance there are plenty of road-going vintage cars to ogle over, and many have made it into this hill climb video. The Ansaldo tourer in particular was a rare sighting.
Hopefully this vintage cars video will appeal to road- and race-car fans alike. This doesn't attempt to record every pre-war car and every run that took place at VSCC Loton Park 2021 hillclimb, rather to capture the atmosphere of the event as a whole, from a spectator's point of view. If your car is featured somewhere, please say hello in the comments.

Super cool video!! I have been assembling a machine shop to support my CZcams channel that I will be starting with the build of a 1928 Morgan RIP GN special 3 wheeler with 4 wheels. I am using an experimental aircraft opposed twin supercharged engine. This will be mated to an MG 4 speed manual gearbox with a 2 piece hand cast aluminum adapter. This will be connected to an MG differential with beautiful wire wheels. The frame I stood over steel and will have aircraft cloth stretched over and sprayed with plasticizer. This will have a boat tail look and is essentially a 20's airplane without a propeller or wings. There is only one other in existence and Charlie Martin races it in the UK. The next project lined up is the building of a Brooklands style cycle car similar to the Pembleton. This will have a BMW R-100 engine in the front and four wheels with gorgeous leather interior and even space for luggage. I look forward to seeing everyone over at the channel when it gets warm out enough to be in the barn in Pennsylvania .....

If you noticed the foundations of demolished buildings and brick plinths in the woods alongside the course, these were for the storage of incendiary ammunition and chemical weapons for the USAAF during WW2.

That chain linked double twin might have an interesting problem because you need a way to sync up the engines like you do in a multi engine aircraft. In an aircraft it just causes vibration. On that car, if done for long enough it could snap the link chains due to drag stress off the slower engine and you wouldn't necessarily be able to hear the difference between the two - a difference of 200-300rpm enough to potentially cause a problem.
