How interesting, I'm the exact opposite. During the oppressive heat and humidity of summer, the only watch I can imagine wearing is a light and airy G-Shock. Whereas fall and winter are when I feel comfortable wearing my serious, heavier watches, with metal bands or leather straps.

hmmmm...the only straps i like to wear in the summer are either my A-158; it's a light metal, decently airy. or a slightly heavier metal strap- well i guess i just like metal straps in general. anyway: leather/resin straps tend to stick to my wrist and mark it and make it gross and sticky after a good sweat, so my Baby-G and old Seiko are a no go!
Oh, and i forgot to mention: but i *love* the feel of NATO straps; they're light, comfy, add a lotta flare to your watch! (especially if it has those steel hoops)

I just wear my G-Shock Rangeman GW-9400-1 nearly all year round. When I sweat a lot at the end of 4he day, just wash it under a tap with a bit of soap, dry it and good to go. I hesitate to buy a leather strap and NATO type straps get smelly easier than the rubber strap and it takes longer to dry. So for 5hr climate here I only want a rubber strap or a stainless steel bracelet.

I’ve been a watch aficionado my entire life and it took me almost an entire life to realize that G Shocks are the best watches on the planet - durability, value, and aesthetics. I live in the 114° relentless heat of the southwest desert and I will only wear a watch band during that summer heat that is silicon, resin, or some facsimile thereof. There’s nothing worse than having a fabric or leather strap become saturated with sweat every hour all day long. You have to subsequently scrub them which in turn wears them out and it’s a disgusting process. I save my fabric and leather straps for the winter time. Keeping your skin clean and free of any contamination such as dirt or sunblock helps to alleviate the rash problem that develops under a non-breathable strap. With a resin or silicone strap you lightly was and rinse with no worry of complete sweat penetration. Make sure you clean you oem resin straps daily or bacteria will also cause rash problems, and never wear any watch band too tight.

    • @adsagp
      @adsagp Před 9 měsíci +1

Yes, I agree with you. I live in a hot and humid climate all year round. So for that reason I don't get leather band watches or fabric/NATO style straps as they absorb sweat. I usually wash my G-Shock Rangeman everyday and it doesn't absorb the sweat. So for me it is the silicon or metal bracelets.

I have found that if I want waterproof, FKM rubber or natural rubber straps do not cause the rash, but I still get all sweaty underneath. Silicone aftermarket straps are hit and miss; some of the really soft ones work, though. Otherwise, I wear nylon or canvas like you showed. Lastly, I agree that putting it on your other wrist must've been due to heat stroke or something (don't ask how I know😂).

I have been collecting watches about 30 years now. Most of them are G-Shocks. I don't have a problem with the strap. However, I learned over the years that G-Shocks with steel
backs irritate my wrist. I believe thats why over the years. The G-Shock company
began to cover the back in various ways depending on
    the model you're wearing. If
    buy inexpensive G-Shocks you
will have problems. I also wear
Luminox watches. They are lightweight and can take a beating just as well as a G-Shock. Which is why it is
the go to watch for the US Navy Seals. If you don't want
a rubber band on your watch
    Luminox has some incredible
nylon velcro bands which helps the watch to be even lighter. If Luminox had solar powered watches I would probably only get them. Speaking of solar power. Citizen watches in my opinion
is ahead of them all. Almost all
Citizen watches do not need a
    battery. Furthermore their top
    brands are made with titanium
(which is great if you have any
skin allergies). Titanium is hypo allergenic. Big words meaning you won't get any allergic skin reaction. Also most Citizen watches never
need a battery. Most of their
    watches are powered by any
type of light source. I made alot of mistakes buying watches in the past. I have learned over the years. You get
what you pay for. Right now G-Shock has some incredible new watches. (They are not cheap). I'm giving you guys info that took me years to discover. By the way. All the brands I mentioned are all 200
    meters or more water resistant

I love G-Shocks. I hate the resin straps. I don't get heat rashes, I just don't like the way they feel. Same goes for other resin-strapped Casios.
I put "JaysAndKays" adapters or straps on all my G-Shocks and my AE1200. Sure you can just put a strap on directly, but because of the way the Casio resin straps fit with those weird, short springbars, a normal straight strap with the correct fitment will look really small on the watch. The adapters give you a normal 20 or 22mm lug to connect a strap to without looking silly.
I have 22mm Barton Elite Silicon straps on my DW5600 and GA-800 via adapters, a JaysAndKays integrated nylon set on my DW6900, and a Barton Cordura strap on my AE1200 via adapter. I also put a basic silicon strap on my F-91W but I didn't bother with adapters (not sure if anybody even makes adapters) and just live with it not quite looking right, because who cares, it's an F-91W ;-)
I'm not affiliated with "JaysAndKays" and I don't get any kickback from them. I just really like the product. I wouldn't wear these watches half as often as I do on the original Casio resin straps. They sell via eBay here: www.ebay.com/str/jaysandkays

I've started buying gsteels and gshocks and protreks that come on either steel, combi bracelts or titanium bracelets and they are so much more comfortable then the resin bands. So much so I hoping that a protrek prw-61 series watch comes out with a combi bracelet soon so I can order it on pac parts for my green prw-61. I love the watch but I just can't 24/7 that resin strap on it.
Note I was going to order a combi bracelet from a prw-60/50 series but casio chgd the lug width from 23mm to 24mm on the new bioplastic models.....I preferred the steel plate backed watches and I still don't understand the move to bioplastic....who is treating a 300-500 buck protrek as a disposable watch? And if then that little bit of steel in the landfill is probably a lot better for the environment then more plastic.

In basically every manual, Casio state that one should only wear the watch band done up to where u can get one finger under the strap. Now that depends upon the size of one's finger doesn't it LOL. But they do say about have room to basically not be sweating under the band. What I fond when reviewing the GWG 1000 in the Aussie sun is that in full sun, watch on the wrist, it can easily get over 40C very quickly since the dark resin will rapidly absorb IR, that's just physics, so if I was to traverse the Sahara anytime soon or the Aussie outback even, I'd wear a different watch made from shiny metal LOL.

I work in foodservice and love wearing a watch for the fashion aspect but also due to the nature of running a restaurant it is very beneficial to have a watch on wrist to tell time quickly without pulling out a phone.
What are some of your favorite higher end rubber straps? I need a waterproof option so leather is out and due to the nature of my work (food particles getting stuck in things) cloth straps are not very practical. Which leaves me with rubber and bracelets. I’ve yet to find a rubber or silicone offering that really makes a watch pop.

Never, NEVER buy a G-Shock! When ouy buy your first model, in just a few moments, you will ask yourself: "And that one...? So cool, not so expensive... Why not...?" And bang!!!

Actually considering punching holes in my GBX band for use in the tropics. I don’t get heat rash unless it’s 90F and 90%RH all day every day. Hoping more vent holes in the strap alleviates the issues.

Have you tried putting antiperspirant on your wrist before wearing? It not only helps with the sweat but provides a barrier between skin and band.

I also don't wear my G-Shock GG-1000 Mudmaster or any of them on hot days. Even NATO straps can cause me issues. Stainless steel only in the extremely hot Turkish summer. It's 11pm now still 30°c (86f) and tomorrow will be 42°c (107f). If your skin can't breathe in that heat, a rash is guaranteed.

I don't get heat rashes easily, but I'm mostly wearing my watches on a high quality parachute elastic style strap in this heat to deal with my wrist swelling. The exception is a Casio Oceanus that's titanium and has a titanium bracelet with a toolless micro adjust.

Rashes or not they are uncomfortable. I like changing strap if wearing while day. I extended lugs of at least 10 of my G-Shocks.
G-Shocks upto $200 are still ok, beyond that they are on steroids and not in a good way. Some may look like solid pieces of art but yhey are not comfortable. Maybe a curvy back-plate and strap might help. Casio is technically advanced, they can mould something easy on wrist.

Yup! it all don't matter since you wear your Rolex all day everyday anyway :) :) but honestly your 1500 is all you need. I would and do wear my 60 year old 1500 anywhere i would wear a G-Shock with no fears. I get that G-shocks are virtually indestructible and can even survive 100m drops...problem is that when wearing one, does it matter?? I would rather be in situations where both me and my watch would keep ticking....and the great thing about yours and my 1500 is it will take any strap, look great and perform....nuff said.... carry on :)
