- Today, we are taking a look at the new La Granja Deluxe Master Set!
Board & Dice sent us a prototype to play, and so we did!
We already know that La Granja is a great game, but do you need this new edition?
In this video, we'll try to give you our opinions, so that you can form your own!
We cannot tell you what to back or not to back, but hopefully we can help you find out if this will be for you or not!
If you are interested, you can check out the game on KS here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/...

Seeing the 2 editions next to each other, you can’t but wonder how Castles of Burgundy Deluxe could have been if Board&Dice got involved…instead of the anniversary edition we got 😔
This comment didn't age well :p
Lol, indeed. That was before Awaken Realms announced the CoB special edition. 😂
Useful video. Great stuff as always. Thanks!
One of my personal favorites and imo underrated games. Not sure I need the deluxe though 🤔
And I just Kickstarted it 🤣
You guys rocks! This is a very interesting game, I would say my favorite. Please, do a game play showing The different modules as soon as possible!
Congrats
Board & Dice were smart with the box size. It is exactly the size of two Ticket to Ride boxes, so it fits well on the shelf.
Yes, I love that :D
So eager to play this. Liked the old one, sold it as soon as I found out that Board&Dice is bringing a new edition of it.
Judging by the IBTPYR (Increased box thickness per year ratio) I would say we are about a year off from fully cubic boxes. This would eliminate the need for shelves and everybody could simply stack all games because they have all become cubes. I think this has been the plan all along.
Modules do see quite popular but I’m not sure I like them. A well made game without modules often outdoes a well made game with modules (for me) - as variability often reduces replay-ability by not giving you as much control. There’s more to it than what I’m saying as a non-variable game lives or dies on its quality of design more than the others.
I don't like any game that needs modules. But can definitely appreciate them to freshen up games I love... Like glen more 2 or viticulture... Though some of those modules make that game way better (and some are superfluous)
Thanks for the video/review! Would be interested in whether you are considering "The La Granda" pledge (La Granja size upgrade)?
Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching :)
Nice to compare both together to get a good idea of sizes! I personally think the new box is way too big, and as much as I like deluxe games, this is just too big!
I can absolutely understand that! It’s a big box for sure! I think it’s ok for what’s inside, but absolutely a big one!
Thanks for doing this preview, I was hoping you'd show off the board though and how it folds. I have a bit of an odd question, but do you know if the NEW board and player boards will still fit in the original La Granja box? I'm thinking about backing the deluxe edition, but I do not want an oversized box and from my memory, the original La Granja was barely half full, and now they made it even bigger?
I'm hoping to use the old box with the new components. Think it would work?
The new game board is a standard 22x22 inches (56x56 cm), quad-fold, which means it can only fit in a box the size of Ticket to Ride. As for the original La Granja fitting in a smaller box ... Well, it did not have an insert for organization and it contained way less components, many of which have received a deluxe upgrade from cardboard to wood. So, no, the Deluxe Master Set would definitely not fit in the old box, nor would it fit in a single-height TtR size box.
I am!!
It's huge. With all these big deluxe boxes coming out how do you not run out of space?
What is this running out of space you are talking about? 😅 I find the box an ok size for what is inside, but yeah, it is a big box!
@@BoardGamingRamblings I thought it was called "Keep or Cull"? This whole time, you have been making room for La Granja!
Can't even find the original edition so yes, you should back it or hopefully your FLGS ordered a few copies. Unfortunately the game will not be in stores.
La gran ha.... please!
Ugh, I will get the deluxe version but why does the box have to be so massive. At least put some of the size length wise instead of all these massive depth boxes that eat up my Kallax cubes.
It’s pronounced La granha.
Haha, sorry! We do our best 😅
@@BoardGamingRamblings ... although, in Catalan, which is spoken on Majorca, it is pronounced as if it was spelled La Grandya
@@rainerahlfors True!
