    So many great drummers for the Basie Band and Butch was one of them.

    I had the privilege of front row seats at The Sydney Opera house in 1978 when Mr Basie's Big Band came to Australia,
    Featuring Freddie Green on the guitar, And a young Butch Miles, I think Butch Miles was 29,
    I then met Butch at a Drum clinic at the Rocks in Sydney , Awesome Just Simply Awesome 🥁😎

    It is actually called MOTEN SWING, and it was composed in 1932 by Bennie Moten for his Kansas City Orchestra......

    Love how the band, started by the pianist, just hang behind the beat. So skillful.

    My God what a wonderful rendition. Somewhere, somehow the Count is smiling! Thanks for this. Love Butch Miles and when Bill Hughes leads the band.

    Does anybody know witch arrangement is this ? Who did it ??

    • @samlussier5538
      @samlussier5538 Před 3 lety +2

      Ernie Wilkins did the arrangement in the 50s. Bennie Moten wrote the tune based on the old standard "You're Drivin' Me Crazy" in the 30s.
