There never has been or will be an MMO like FFXI. The friends and adventures from this game will live within me forever. It's almost as if they really happened. From the first trip to Jeuno and all the way to sky. Man what a better time.
Robert, Grae, Klinkus, Marek, Jrod, Mariey. I'll never forget these people. ❤

Almost want to cry... a life was lived long ago in this world... Now all that remains is a Lost Wanderer.
We're waiting to receive you in final fantasy 14.
@@WarrenGarabrandt unfortunately i was banned a long time ago on that one :)
@@GameOv3r369 OH. Womp womp. Sorry to hear that.
@@WarrenGarabrandt no worries, that game doesn't compare to this ffxi. Have fun fellow adventurer!
@@GameOv3r369 Banned? for what?
It makes me want to just burst into tears.
What I love about the music and scenes in this game - with the way it the game paced too - was that you didn't feel like you had to get stuff done for the sake of it.
You could just sit in a zone and chill. Maybe farm. Maybe fish. Or just afk with the music playing in your room.
But this music is so good. Its not in your face or rushing you along. And there's such a great range of sounds and instruments in every track.
Exploration of the open world. You'd always see people doing EXP party, farming, etc. Hey those guys are doing so-and-so AF quest. Maybe I'll help them, make some new friends. People trying to solo EXP. BSTs exploring out of the way solo camps. Even RMTs running around.
FF14 the open world is totally dead. People just afk in cities, doing dance emotes while they wait for a 25 minute dungeon to queue. Totally different experience.

Yeah man exactly...
Even though FFXI is dying I'm playing again though.
There's still some people doing stuff here and there.
I'm trying to enjoy the story more since I didn't really the first time.
I love it too much not to finish tying loose ends.
I LOVE this game ..then and now, the memories alone will sustain me for ever :) I will never cancel sub.
I miss this bridge. So many memories of fishing off of it, and chasing bees and Goblin Thugs around leveling new jobs.
The occasional sound of a worm popping in and out of the ground would perfect this video
Best game ever made and best soundtrack. I will forever be a member of the Federation of Windurst.
Fuck, I was 12 years old when I played this. This brings it all back. I had no clue what I was doing and I loved it.
Lol I played it when I was like 7, thank god I had my older brothers to show me the ropes cause that was confusing as hell to get into as a kid. Not only my first mmo but my first multiplayer game in general
I killed my very first monsters in Gustaberg, and had my first death to final sting. :) Taught me to pick my battles better from then on!
Wish 14 was like this and had this magic with this music I can never describe it.
Come to Wings server on FFXI!
@@ChaseFace why what's different about wings man?
@devildark exactly, I would play 14 if it took these notes from 11 to have that real magic. Summed up everything I wanted to say.
@devildark I thought I was alone in thinking this, I played it in 2014 and was looking forward to an ff11 with today's graphics but the repetition, over the top blasts on screen, unrealistic magic blasts everywhere, over the top colorful tables and way it was like a job everyone doing the same exact thing abd therefore no natural like real life adventure, magic and making the game your own like ff11 just gave me a headache, I think people need to stand up and stop jumping on the bandwagon, fair enough though if people do like that over the topness but just wish we had ff11 with today's graphics and different world.
@devildark don't forget while the dev team has swelled the game actually gets less development now than it did at launch. I played from 2.3 Through 5.3ish and over the years you get less per patch than you used to. Started with 3 dungeon /patch now its 1. Dungeons used to be varied and have switches, or items to collect, optional rooms/paths.
Now they are just the exact same thing. Pull to wall... Trash Trash Boss Trash Trash Boss Trash Trash Boss.
When I stopped playing XIV I had done the exact same thing 22 days in a row. Anamnesis Anyder, ST, Eden's Verse: Refulgence, for daily tomes... I've been playing PSO2 since and I can remember more about my time in XI despite playing it less and WAAAY longer ago than I can remember about XIV. I still have vivid memories of my party telling me to take 10mins on Canada day to go outside and watch fireworks while we were in our little corner of Valkrum Dunes. The first Time I popped out of the tunnel to quifim isle. My first time in Tavnazia. Getting obliterated by a ladybug trying to unlock Dancer. Getting lost in the jungle and tunnels trying to get to Norg...
XI just left impressions on you. My theory is that in XI no one was special so that made everyone unique and special in their own way which made the game more relatable while in XIV everyone's the special Warrior of Light Snowflake, which makes nobody special or unique because everyone's the Bane of the empire, slayer of primals and master of the stoic nod. However just don't tell the XIV fanbois that... if XIV has one thing going for it is its Cultish like fanbase.
Pure magic in everyway as real life should be, the reason i gave two years of my life for this game
try 19 years
@@flipskaterdave you been playing for 19 years? How many hours a day?
@@flipskaterdave that's what I love about it, it makes it like real life that grew up with with real friends and people
@@nameless.greyceo login time is at about 1100+ days last i checked lol
this music brings back so many memories
I miss this game so much
Come to HorizonXI!!!
Poor goblins no one to chase after anymore 😢I miss this place and the music.
its so beautiful!
I'm here for the song
The memories of grinding quads to get that cool scroll for my black mage *sighs* Yeah that was the life
I wish you ran across this map with the camera unfastened to spin around your player character 360 degree.
This one single song makes me weep with the memories
😢 good memories during this time of life. Always come back and listen to the zones I would always be in
Love this. Though the song is on Spotify (Gustaberg by Kumi Tanioka), the ambience helps to remind me of the days where I'd leave the game up while working, barely able to hear it behind the din of yelling at idiots on conference calls. It's wonderfully nostalgic.
I also steal glances at the crabs, too. Don't ask why, I always liked that mob model. So much so that I got one as a mount in the ever-inferior successor: FFXIV. XI ruined me on MMOs forever; none of them will ever be good unless they are XI.
im coming back next month.. i cannot wait.
What do you mean? Live servers?
Would you ever consider coming back to upload more? A lot of people would love that. Thank you!
This brings me to my knees ... started off as a 13 year playing this in 2002 with my first THF character in Bastok.... then my RDM character from San d'Oria.
Played from 2002-2011 joined the USAF, got married, had kids but never went back... I think I vaguely remember hearing they raised the lv cap to 80?
I can hear this song for ages...
I spent so much time here, and in South Gustaberg (farming Leaping Lizzy).
Feels.
1:09:46 for some reason there is a really strange "radio chatter", something about "24 hours..." weird! Creeped me out
I feel like this game would've resonated much differently without Mizuta's musical style. This was my first MMO. Still hits in the feels and I'll still return whence I'm able. Even if it's only to wander through my favourite zones.
Subliminal message at 1:09:48. Also, is it just me, or does the volume change at times throughout the video?
I think that's radio talk from the game METAL GEAR V or METAL GEAR PEACE WALKER
It makes me wonder why it's even there... if the uploader has a random "ambience playlist" playlist which includes the Metal Gear "radio ambience", but... doesn't really fit in here... :/
I'm a headphone-user and it confirms that I heard an "unpleasant noise" in the background further back in the video. I can't say when, nor what it was, but it was rather ominous... probably won't revisit this one.
Haha, someone forgot to mute their game while letting this record. It's an easy fix if you have the right program, but yeah that is a little wonky. There's always the Viewtiful ASMR channel which has a gigantic stockpile of similar FFXI vids and was the first to do extended XI ambience+music on CZcams afaik.
it's so funny that this was recorded without a controller plugged in so it's just freezing every 1.5 seconds
