It's finally here! Vana'diel Chill vol. 1 is the culmination of several months of work, dedicated to paying tribute and showing my love for the music of Final Fantasy XI. These chill FFXI remixes are sure to make a perfect, laid-back and nostalgic backdrop for your work, study, or just relaxation. Many tracks have been touched up and remastered from the original uploads for this full album release. I hope you enjoy the album, as there's more to come in the future!

I miss my FFXI friends, I was laying here depressed, I made some horrible life decisions and have been going downhill the past 7 years. Now I'm laying in this bed 4 days sober and seen this. My life is a wreck and this made me think I lost touch with all my 11 friends and no way to get back in touch... I've got to get my life back together... You may have just saved my life man...
Having been through some stuff myself, It's never too late! I know that comes off as cliche but I really mean it. Pulling oneself out is a huge struggle, but it's absolutely 100% worth it. You got this.

the problem was because they made FFXI be an online MMORPG when gaming online was still just coming into its own. As a result a lot of final fantasy fans never got to play the online games and hear the music and enjoy the stories
I also have to just post a comment which I hardly ever do. But I appreciate this so much. Same with the rest who added comments great memories of my childhood and with my brother. We bonded over this game me as PLD and him as my WHM me screaming across the room to keep Haste on! Hahah so damn good. Much love ❤️ FFXI is amazing and the music is untouchable.

With 2022 bringing FFXI's 20th anniversary, i'm feeling nostalgic in so many kind of ways. Your music reminds me of one of the best time of my life, playing a game that created friendships that to this day still exist, even though for some of them we're thousands of Kilometers apart, we still talk and chat on a weekly basis.
I was young when i started playing this (around 14 years old), this game taught me how to speak english, taught me some values of hard work, dedication, that a team can always go further that a single person ever will. It's super cheesy, but being a teenager at that time, it's all super important. This game made me who i am today, and i want to thank you for making me remember with fondness about this time. Your music is lovely, i'll share it with all my ffxi buddies and probably more!

I was in my teens when I started playing, and made so many memories amd friendships, many of which have lasted almost 20 years and over great distances. I love to see the passion for the music of ffxi from the fans, and know that to many people, it's more than just good music.

Gustaburg was what I slept to for many many years. I'd have a GF over and she'd be like "do you listen to this while you sleep?" I still log on from time to time just to hear it.

I'm not of your fans that's been there since the start, strictly speaking, though it was a close call (I started following along from the 2nd song on - San d'Oria I think, and then I retroactively listened to Windurst and loved it to bits as well - I might be getting my starter city themes mixed up, but in my defense each of your three takes on them are fucking amazing)
I was just glad to have them all in one place, but you actually managed to make the _album_ bring added value too, imo. The order is just perfect. The clear geographical/prog link for the first part of the album is obviously brilliant - tickles all the right neural connections in our brain. But even past these songs... i can't quite put my finger on _why_, but Zi'Tah after Heavens' Tower just made me vibe so muuuuch
you're going to make me go and resub to XI... that was not my intention when I started following you, i just wanted a healthy nostalgia shot :)

Wow, thanks for the kind words and support! I still believe in the value of albums as complete works, so there was some thought put into the track order. Glad to see people appreciate it. I highly recommend resubbing just to check out the game in its current state if you've got the cash & free time. I've enjoyed my return immensely so far! As for volume 2, there will be a heavier focus on Zilart/Promathia tracks, and Lufaise Meadows is a favorite of mine. Stay tuned!
The FFXI event is up on FFXIV and I got teary eyed seeing all the old cutscenes and the classic first shot of the crystal in the first cinematic from OG FFXI. This music unlocks so many good memories yo. Definitely grabbin it on spotify.

@@CptObvious77 just lvl 30 and that's it. It'll have you do a unique fate in the 3 main nation's territories. The quest starts in The Drowning Wench bar in Limsa (NPC Lalafell has the quest).

Wow. Suddenly Im transported back to Bastok as TheGuy, my Pal/War, running around from airship to auction houses, then farming bee's and hunting leaping lizzy. I had many happy moments in Vana'diel and this mix with its supurb instrumentation really gets me missing it all. Thanks for this!

@@Spaceroast absolutly. It was about imersion. I swear, I "Lived" in Vana'diel. I played with RL friends so it was even more immersive. The same people I was going to class with, I was partying lvling with.
Now, i need to ask...cuz Im a sax player too, why the alto? I was surprised every time i heard it, especially Jazzy Juno! Im guessing they did the flute as well? Oh man, and the guitar in the gustabug track?! Love!
@@adrianvalladaressellshomes5006 Actually, everything here is composed in midi through virtual instruments. If you listen carefully, it does sound a little artificial. I myself am a percussionist and have never touched a wind instrument, but I'd love to learn! I hope to collaborate with musicians in the future for real instrumentation, but my own recording setup is limited.
I chose the alto sax mainly out of preference. I know in most cases tenor can offer a warmer sound for a chill vibe, but with the instruments I'm using, the breathy sound of the alto at low velocities really seemed to fit. In any case, thank you for the kind words!

Just wanted to comment that these are incredible tracks and are a perfect time machine. Played XI for many many years with RL friends. Tons of late summer nights lanning, XP'ing, camping KA and having a great time. I wish SE would bring back a 75 cap server, stopped playing once they increased level cap. Although I do go back now and again just to run around Vanadiel for a little nostalgia pop. I have been listening to both of your chill mixes while riding my motorcycle and they are a perfect compliment to a sunset ride in the country. Thank you for these.
Hey, thanks! Love to hear stories like this. There's nothing like the classic XI experience. I'm incredibly nostalgic for those days but even I admit I don't know if I could do the same grind again with a family to raise and work and such. It's still nice to revisit in its current state though, even if a lot has changed. I'm doing a nostalgia playthrough myself right now. I also miss driving the country roads with some good music. Glad to hear you enjoy it.

I love each and every one of these, and ending it with the Mog House is just perfect.
I only wish more fans got to experience the magic of Vana'diel. Maybe one day Yoshida will make it free (or at least free to 14 subscribers) or do an offline version, but it's still getting 200k+ subs every month and making bank.

Regarding songs you didn't love from the OST: Oddly enough, I've found that the songs I never liked as much tend to unlock my creativity a bit more than usual, and I'm usually way more pleased with the end result than I expected. I have a lot of fun trying to figure out how to transform them in a unique way. You can hear that a bit in the Norg remix as well as the upcoming Xarcabard one. Anyway, thanks again! Really appreciate it!
Love this so, so much. You really knocked it out of the park with each track. I love how Ronfaure was so good to begin with that it didn't need much. And you absolutely crushed Zi'Tah! I was a little worried given that's easily the zone track most beloved by players of the early era (and maybe of all time) but you completely slayed it. Now I've gotta figure out how to some of the tracks in the game with your stuff, lol, brilliant work!! Sub'd!
Thanks for the support!! Yeah, with a many of the tracks (Zi'Tah in particular) I tried to keep the essence of the originals intact while adding my own stylistic touches. I know how much this music means to a lot of people so a certain amount of care was needed, but you'll hear varying degrees of creative liberties taken throughout the album. Glad you enjoy it!

Omg, my heart is beating so hard hearing my homeland's song (San d'Oria). 18 years passed and I still remember the first day in the game killing earthworms, beetles, and those jumpy bunnies with my little toothpick in the foggy forest 😂. Damn, I miss everything in the game, including people. I'm still in contact with some players. The game gifted me my soulmate. I'm so lucky to meet my husband in the game. I was shouting for help with my mission, and there he volunteered. He flew across the globe to meet me and asked me to marry him after 4 years of long-distance relationship. He's been now my knight for almost 14 years 🩷 We will definitely celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary by playing FFXI with our daughter together. We have no accounts anymore, so starting from Lv.1...Orz

Great stuff. I listen to your tracks when I go cycling in parks/suburbs around my city outside of Dallas and it really lifts the mood. I love your Bastok cover a lot, I like how the brass made it sound almost like a Cake cover.
