  • The Shirt Lace Button (also known as Zwirnknopf) There are tons of variations on these buttons, this one looks like a star. I'll show you how you can make variations on this button and I demonstrate it for both Left and Right Handers. They're lots of fun and a little addictive.
    There are some great CZcams videos out there showing different versions of the Zwirnknopf (Shirt Lace) buttons. Here are a few I found very helpful:

    After graduating from Parsons School of Design, I began my career in fashion design and freelanced both in New York City, as well as London. I designed hand knits for Elle Magazine and was the editor of the Hand Knit Page before hand knits fell out of fashion in the early 1990's and the page was discontinued. In 2008 I launched my jewelry design business, designing fine jewelry in 18 & 20 Kt Gold with gemstones that I hand select for each piece. Several awards and numerous write ups & interviews in all kinds of magazines and online zines, I rediscovered hand stitching and my life took another turn. I have been designing in some form since I sold my first felt embroidered xmas tree ornaments to a small shop in Northern California when I was 16 years old, and have never looked back. And while I've had detours along the way: had two children, worked at an advertising agency, got into acting in my early 20's, published some articles for various magazines and wrote for the Huffington Post for a few years, I have always come back to designing. It is my first love and remains so to this day.

    Ariane, you continue to delight and gift us all! Thank you for this wonderful ‘how to’ video. I hope that life and circumstances come together so that we may one day have an opportunity to meet face to face and I can thank you personally. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!

    That was very fun. I had seen that before but couldn't figure out where to get those flat rings in the US. Thanks for the link. I can't wait to make some. I can't imagine someone sitting around figuring out how to do these in the first place.

    I didn’t know about the beeswax so I used an Emory board and that wired well too to roughen the edges. I had no yarn slip . I need to try the beeswax next . I also use 3D printed buttons

      What a great idea!! An emory board might work even better than beeswax!! I love that you're using 3D buttons. How great!!!

    Thank you for sharing, always fascinating how to me how wrapping thread around a washer or plastic ring can make such a beautiful thing. It would be so pretty to have a whole bunch of these sewn on a design background. Another rabbit hole. Lol

      Yes! Definitely a little addictive but lots of fun. And a good way to use threads you don’t normally use ❤️

    I love - LOVE, your videos. I do have a question. When doing the final outside wraps, is it OK to capture the tie down wraps that are left when you secure the apexes of the points? I'm sure I can do what I want - but was wondering if it was historically unacceptable.

    • @ArianeZurcher212
      @ArianeZurcher212  Před 2 lety

      Hi Pamela, I think that should be fine, though I have no idea if it wasn't done in the past. I'm a rule breaker, so my motto is - if it works, do it! ❤️😂❤️

    Do you know where I can get a death head button kit?
    I see you need a stick to put in the hole in the wooden button form

    Hello Ariane,
    I have not been getting the Patreon videos for May. I am wondering if you are ill since you haven't posted any new videos. You are in my thoughts and prayers 🙏 ❤

      @@rankinstudios5342 Ah... You might want to check that your credit card info is up to date over on Patreon as they began billing for May on the 1st. If you aren't getting notifications, it suggests that something may have changed, such as a credit card on file expired, a changed email address than the one you signed up for, etc. This is actually not something I can see or do anything about, I'm afraid, as it's all internal within Patreon's platform. ❤️
