Odense Letbane Stadler Variobahn, first test runs, april 2020

  • The first test run on the Odense Letbane line along Hestehaven in the southern outskirts of Odense took place on 21st of April 2020. The press and lots of employees were attending. The speed was very low, to check that everything fits.
    A couple of days later, on 23rd of April, tests at normal speed was taking place.

    Ser virkelig frem til første gang Letbanen skal stoppe i bunden af Nyborgvej, ved tankstationen, og skal op af bakke i frostvejr

    As beautiful as this streetcar looks, it is one of the worst models on the market. In Munich and Graz there were many problems. Stadler will in future increasingly offer the Tramlink instead of the Variobahn. This is a sign that the Variobahn is technically no longer up to date. There are definitely better models, even the Flexity is more comfortable, and is technically more reliable

      I can report that the Variobahns in Aarhus are doing very well. Much better than the Tango's, but that's probably not that surprising.

      @@cheesekingofdenmark6910 Hvorfor er det ikke overraskende? Tangos kører uden problemer mange steder i udlandet, for eksempel i Basel, hvor BLT (transportselskabet) er helt vild med dem. Det er specielt pålideligheden som man er meget tilfreds med. Jeg tror det er, som trams_trains siger, mest Variobahnen der har skabt en masse problemer mange steder.

      @@andrewoakeshott7759 Variobahn har i hvertfald fungeret uden problemer i Aarhus. Der er ikke noget som sådan galt med Tango, men I Aarhus er de bemærkelsesværdigt mindre pålidelige end Variobahn.
