I work for a UK based Telecommunication company and whenever I have to call someone residing at UK just because they have raised a complaint regarding their broadband or other services, they think I am a scammer because I have an Indian accent. I used to work for my company's Debt collection department and people in Uk they think I am trying to scam them when actually they haven't just paid their bills properly. This is so frustrating. They sometimes call us names, use profanity and also makes our work 10 times harder than it already is. And the reason is these fu**all scammers. Just don't know what to doooooo. I'm sceptical. The guy's apology sounded anything but sincere, it seemed to me he just stalled to learn as much about Scambaiter as possible, and once he found out that the hacker is not a black hat demanding ransom money but a white hat making empty threats about Indian police, he just played along.
I used to think that people who fall for such scams deserve it, for being such naive idiots. But having seen a couple of videos by Scambaiter, I realised that most of the victims are old people whom you can't expect to know anything about on-line security, or even to recognise the Indian accents behind US Anglo-Saxon names. Unfortunately, that same demographic is unlikely to see Scambaiter's videos. The best that could happen is younger people watching Scambaiter and similar channels get inspired to warn their grandparents and uncles; but considering how nuclearised families are in the US, even that is unlikely.

I can imagine how terrified these guys must be now that he knows people know where they live. It's one thing if you're in a business building, it's quite another when it's your own home. Now, they can't ever feel safe at home again knowing random people know where to find him. Their only choice would be to find a new place to live. Scammers love to believe they can maintain their anonymity and go to pieces almost immediately when they realize they have not only been found out, but that the other person has all of their personal information in hand.
One can only hope this will cause them to at least try looking for legitimate employment again.
