The guitarist John Phillips wrote this song while they were in New York during winter. He meant if I didn't tell his girlfriend Michelle (blonde) he could go back home where it's warm because the girls didn't want to leave New York yet. They were working on other music and such. They are all from Southern California.
I so love your willingness to listen to "old school" music. As well as your appreciation of it. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Love your reactions!
EASILY One of the BEST songs ever... 🌬🙏🇩🇪🙏
Mama Cass.... just sweetness
The lady in the dress next to guitar 🎸 player is Mama Cass she is the one you commented about when you did Janis Joplin Ball of Chain video 📹 🤣 😂 🙄
Those harmonies r so good. I love them.
Did you notice the woman with the dark hair is the one the camera focused on in the video Ball and Chain by Janis Joplin?!
The instrument you are asking about during the solo is a flute.
By the way, Mama Cass was the woman in the crowd that was blown away at Janis Joplin's performance of Ball and Chain that you reacted to.
They have so many great songs. I love their harmonies. You have to definitely do more of them.
I liked your take on the metaphor of a relationship--even if that's not what he meant, every listener can interpret it in their own way.
Always love their harmonies such a great sound and of course another great reaction by yourself
That red broom can turn into a bass guitar real quick…..Awesome bass line in this classic
all these years I thought they were singing 'I BEGAN to pray'. but the closed caption up there said 'PRETEND' ! that's a whole different thing!
You really swept me off my feet with your broom playing. Lol😂
You play a nice broom, please react to next level "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" by Elvin Bishop live on midnight Special, great reactions.
Definitely that version! ❤️✌️
Mama Cass 🤩😍
Sceez, FYI remember that girl in the audience that was in awe of Janice Joplin when you reacted to Janice the other day? She is the girl in this group that has reddish brown hair. Her name is Mama Cass. Well I just scrolled down far enough and found out other people have been telling you the same thing. Im gonna leave my comment because it helps your video.
So much great music dropped today!!
Love your reactions in general, but I really love this one !! ❤️
❤❤❤❤no problem here....just loving your reaction
so early you can see john’s hair. He wore some kind of woolen toque number professionally pretty much every time.
I think the guys cut each other's hair while on psychedelics before this performance. 🤣
I can’t watch them without seeing the Scooby Do crew.
Great reaction..
Do some BEATLES..
Love your reaction. Old school..🤣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️
Did you notice that Mama Cass is the woman in the audience who was blown away by Janis Joplin??
When I was growing up in the 50s and 60s if someone wanted a song played over the radio airwaves it had to be around 323 and a half minutes only. It wasn't until the 1970s that the radio started playing longer songs. One of the longest was American pie by Don McClain you need to listen to that 1
So good! I love your energy!!!
Now it's "California Nightmare."
California Careful
California dreamless
❤️
I appreciate your expanding taste in music, esp older one, great that you're doing this and digging deeper, check the great covers of this song too. Also, a personal comment, lol, you must have the longest fingers I've ever seen. I've a thing for men's hands, so I always notice them. Kudos to you!!! Attractive man altogether, hey, I had to freaking say it! 😜
Songs before the mid 1970's were much shorter. 50 and 60's songs were mostly under 3 minutes and some were only 2 minutes. Record companies and radio stations wouldn't play songs over 3 minutes until Queen stayed adamant to release Bohemian Rhapsody which is5:55. Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin is 7:55
American Pie 8:42 mins.
@@bella-xp7qd I forgot about that one. Thanks for adding it.
A bit of CA trivia - CA, during the 60s-mid 70s was a "Red" State (had been for most of its history). Ronald Reagan was the Governor from 1967 through 1975. CA offered the best of everything - economically, Liberties aka freedom (less Gov't intrusion, taxes), not to mention the weather and geography.
California Dreamin'
What a loss for the world, when we lost Mama Cass.
Someone get this man a guitar.
Why, Sceez is very proficient on Bertha the Broom.
@@tomroome4118 haha!
If you like this amped up folk style check out Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel. Different vibe than this but they sprang from the background. Once you begin listening you'll thank me. For the M&P s listen to Dream a Little Dream with Mama in the lead.
Sorry, Mama Cass. Her voice was universally loved!
It IS a flute.
🤟🤟🤟❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
You had the same reaction I did
React to Kate Bush wuthering heights she's a ghost that's come back for her lover
This band ranged from one of the nicest and warmest people in Laurel Canyon, all the way to a guy who slept with his daughter and got her high. Dang they could sing together tho and coed singing groups like this did not really happen in pop groups.
LA could mean Lower Alabama! Ha!Ha!Ha! Come on have a sense of humor about it! I've loved this song since it first came out a long long time ago.
" I'll be safe and warm if I was in LA" Not with all these homeless people you won't 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's difficult to sing like that you have to say on your part as you are just after the line
