I had a cabbage patch doll, and I belive she is still with me in a box, in my storage. 😄
I still remember how I saved up my money for her. And it took me months, before I could get her. But because of that, I've never gotten rid of her. She is precious to me.
It's so fun to see someone actually collect them. 😄

Hi, May! :) :) Hugs!! I hope you're doing well and keeping healthy. Such a special memory for you! It seems we appreciate things more when we've had to work and scrape for them. I can imagine that Cabbage Patch Kids were hard to come by at that time and that they were pretty expensive. Even in the States where, I think, most of them went, supply couldn't meet demand, and people were actually fighting over them in the stores. My sisters and I missed out at that time, so my grandmother, who was very talented on the sewing machine, made her version of Cabbage Patch Kids for us. I wish I still had mine because of the sentimental value and also wish I still had my actual Cabbage Patch Kids. Anyway, you'd really be surprised at how many people do actually collect them. :) So glad you enjoyed seeing them, and I loved hearing about yours.

The corn silk kids came out when my daughter was a around 3 or 4 years old
It's hard to believe how long ago all this was. I remember them well when they came out and how much I weaned one.

They are loads of fun to collect. I have yarn hair as well as some corn silk. I definitely love my collection.
I have a ceramic cabbage patch that was made in the early 80s they called them lettuce leaf but they are 100% Cabbage patch kid .The mold wss ordered to be destroyed but my mother inlaw had made all us girls one.Was wondering how much she's worth.Not that i would sell her but who knows.

Yes, me too. I've always loved rooted hair, but there are times painted does better, like if you want to put little caps on them. I don't do that with my rooted haired babies.

For the STICKY shoes try sprinkling BABY POWDER on them after you wash the shoes.. GREAT job bringing back the shiny on the Cornsilk doll hair.. ALL originals CPK doll clothes are tagged on the inseem of the clothes and or has a patch sewn on the sleeve that says Cabbage Patch like your little one in red with black shoes.. I have about 200+ CPK babies and a huge tote of all original clothes.. I’ve been giving away my collection.. Do you have any pictures of your original CPK babies when u were younger, I may have them... 😆 Just n FYI, elastic bands are hard on the hair if left on to long.. HAPPY CPK Collecting...
Thank you so much for all this great info. This is all good to know, especially about the elastic bands and baby powder. Sadly, I don't have any pics of my original CPK's, as this was a really long time ago - way before digital cameras came to be and when you had to choose wisely about pictures you took since film was expensive. I can't remember the face mods they had either - never even looked - but I can tell you generally what they looked like. The two I had back in teh day were from the Coleco era - one was a preemie with light complexion and bald, of course. The other was a girl with brown hair and blue eyes. She had on a yellow and white outfit with a yellow sweater over the top. I think her ribbons were white as was her shoes. I believe she even had a dimple but can't remember for sure. Wowzers! Over 200+ wtih a bunch of original clothing - quite a collection you have there.

I’m looking forward to watching it 😊 I’m a child of the 80s and also collect cpk dolls and other baby dolls along with strawberry shortcake Care Bears and my little ponies. I never had a cpk growing up but my sister had one of those super creepy homemade ones lol

Do your Strawberry Shortcakes still smell or have they lost their scents by now? I remember they always smelled so good. Sharon's Sanctuary my 80s strawberry shortcakes don’t have their smell anymore but I mostly have the new ones they sell at target and those have a nice strawberry smell. Unfortunately the new strawberry friends don’t have any smell even though the boxes say they do.
@@lynnh3371 Oh, I had no idea they made new Strawberry Shortcake stuff. I bet nothing beats the classic ones, but it's nice that this line hasn't been forgotten. I always loved them and thought they were so sweet. I also loved the My Little Ponies and used to watch the little cartoon all the time. :) You mentioned the creepy homemade CPK's. Do you mean the soft sculpture ones that were made of all cloth? Or did you mean the knock-off ones that people made. When we couldn't get actual CPK's during the whole craze, my grandmother, who was very talented with a sewing machine, made us CPK knock-offs. I wish I still had mine because Grandma is gone now, and there's sentimental value. :(
Sharon's Sanctuary the ones at target look like the classic strawberry shortcake so that’s nice. They also carry original style my little ponies. The cpk was a homemade one where you buy the plastic head with the weird nose and the rest is cloth.
@@lynnh3371 Oh, that is nice! It's never as good when they try to remake something into a different style. Give me the classics any day. :) Oh, gotcha! Yeah, I'd heard of those but never liked them. Again, give me the regular CKP's.
