Y’all missing the point saying how it’s so expensive to start and he’s not even working. All I know is he took a hobby he liked, found a nitch, saved, worked and made more money than I’ll ever get flying drones. Then is kind enough to share the information for free on how to do it. Also he never once said the word easy in the video. Keep up the great work man!
Say it louder for the haters in the comments! Finally, some common sense. Thank you!

Nitch?
@@billybull7419 it's a market that you can sell to that has a lot of demand but no competition usually very specific. It's a great way to start a business is by finding a nitch.
It’s still bs lmao try doing that with no cash.. never gonna happen
No you worked at this for years. The end result of 1000x’s of hours. Being at the right place at the right time but waiting for years in that one spot while spending $100,000’s in schooling, gear and software.

The fact is anyone can go buy a cheap drone and go fly it. Will they know how good their data is, is another question. Why it’s bad data is another and how to resolve to a proper outcome is the final.
I consult on data capture and conversion. Noobs left right and center making my and just about every VDC’s job a nightmare.

This isn’t something just anyone can do unless they also have the funds or if they are willing to throw away everything they have to attempt success like this.

Are you a licensed land surveyor surveyor?
Don't have to be if the client is taking responsibility. Just a licensed pilot. I fly drones and I'm a lidar tech.
Looking to start doing this for a living thanks for posting this
You can do it! Visit www.rockrobotic.com and reach out to us. We're here to help.
What are the requirements to start flying and making money doing lidar mapping?
"You can do this too" As long as you have an M300...
There's other options!
@@IndianaDrones I know, I know. But surely the Mini 2 can't...
I'm sure it took more than 48 hours just to set up and learn the equipment
Totally! But the time spent on the job site and producing a final result was indeed 48 hours.
Estimated Math..
Drone $13k + batteries+ R3 Pro Lifar Camera $30k + RockRobitc Software Subscription $2k a year = So it is pretty big investment to start off.
So I guess on job1 (2 days) to pay for itself and then on jobs 2 +♾️ you will make profit 😁
That is very common! If you already have the work then this math works really fast! But if you don't, all hope is not lost. There is a large surplus of survey firms that want to do this but don't have the youth with the passion and attention to detail to help get them going. If I was starting today, I would go watch all my video - ask me to make some more tutorials. Then go to a survey firm - say that you want to become a Drone Party Chief - get a job for 80K a year... then learn all the survey stuff on the job. Then Boom - you too will get the 45K per 2 day jobs!
Hey I have a mavic air 2, curious how much the matrice and LiDAR are going for together total. Ballpark 22-26k usd?
Sure but I know that LiDAR camera is about $27,000 USD plus it requires I think two subscriptions which total a few grand a year to get all the features.
So you paid off the drone in two days 👍🏻
And the LiDAR camera! Now that my initial overhead investment is covered, I can make more money to earn a good ROI.
Flying drones has been a huge hobby of mine for upwards of 7+ years. It is very inspiring to see the potential of turning it into a source of income via LiDAR, as well as other avenues.
