  • Filmmaker Raoul Peck has made one of the most audacious films to air on American television. The documentary series titled "Exterminate All The Brutes" tells the brutally honest history of colonialism, genocide and white supremacy, and dismantles the Eurocentric framework through which history is normally taught. He joins Michael Moore for a conversation on how this film got made, and what it has to say about the power of ignorance, the preservation of privilege and how the only way to upend all of this is for each of of us to join the fight and never give up, no matter the consequences. Be sure to watch this profound and earth-shattering movie (now on HBO on demand and Max).

Michael I took your advice and watched "I am not your Negro" (before watching "Exterminate all the Brutes") ... every American needs to watch this film. James Baldwin was truly a scholar and a genius, but this film brings out his passionate respect and love for his fellow Black man and woman. Through it all, he shows an abiding love for his people, and a hopefulness for their future in America, while reminding us that we don't live in a "free" country until all are free to live and prosper without fear

I appreciate these podcasts but I have to admit my faith in humanity is at an all time low. I’m in my sixties and have seen my fair share of human ignorance, arrogance and cruelty, never been capable of living in denial. However , we seem to be at a crossroads and the sadness I feel not for myself but for all the innocent children in this world is at times overwhelming. I so admire the people who keep fighting the good fight.

Michael, your guest is brilliant and thank you so much for having him on. I did-- before I started this podcast-- go back to "I am not your negro"and unlike a while ago WHEN I could NOT access it for free, I was able within seconds to bring it up. SO THAT'S GOOD TO KNOW for your followers. I think he's brilliant because though YOU WERE making a contrast between a potential White reaction versus the reaction of black people in South Africa at the time of their final freedom from control of the white minority --he pointed out THAT IT'S NOT quite like that. BEFORE he even spoke I was thinking of Mandela who was a powerful force to guide the nation toward reconciliation rather than retribution or punishment. I DON'T KNOW IF WE HAVE such a powerful person in America yet he clarified in great detail the organization that had been occurring prior to the huge change and continued on with the change. I love the way he got into the nitty-gritty of WHAT REALLY makes for a positive peaceful change in a culture that has systemic violence toward another race.
I would like to make ONE correction regarding your citing that females are a majority in the world: THEY HAVE been a majority since time began BUT recently, in the last maybe five years or so, they have become a minority due to the murder of women, usually by husbands or family who are punishing them for disturbing their patriarchy, if u will. AND so for the first time in the existence of this place we call our home-- Planet Earth-- women are NOW a minority and men are a majority. YOU might want to do a podcast on that.😚
Thank you Michael for bringing on this guest who actually can see so clearly what is occurring in Palestine. I have texted you several times in the comment section regarding this and if I've asked you to do further work on this issue. THE TIME HAS COME AND THE TIME IS NOW. THANK YOU

I pray that this documentary will spark intrigue, open mindedness, and a desire for people to further read, learn, and research these topics! I firmly believe that documentaries serve as a way to encourage people to build on their curiosity by seeking books to expound on the knowledge given in these documentaries. At 8 minutes Peck says the Haitian Revolution contributed to ending slavery in the US. According to some US historians, when the French fled Haiti, they went to Cuba and later arrived in Louisiana to setup slave industries. Enslaved people could not read and knew nothing of the Haitian Revolution. White Americans read about Haiti in horror. That led to more oppressive actions against enslaved Americans with brutal displays of sadism. The Haitian Revolution only worsened conditions for enslaved Americans. Throughout the documentary Peck gets too many things wrong about Black America. It's in that appearance that it seems he co-opts the struggle of black descendants of pre-Civil War Americans. Then misrepresents with misinformation. There's erasure in that strategy. It may not be his intent to misinform, but that's the end results.

You make patently false statements and then make conclusions on those lies. Black slaves didn't know how to read. A blanket statement that is not true. Perhaps you should do more study. This is what was taught to you by some public school. Shame. Too many things wrong is another blanket statement without basis. This entire documentary is DOCUMENTED FACT!!!! I have not heard one person say something regarding the claims you make. Raoul Peck supplied the reference materials and even put some of them in the documentary. What have you done to support your claim?? It is people like you who hold back the world from reconciliation and truth so that we can provide our future generations the ability to tackle real problems in the future collectively. What is misrepresented? What is misinformation? You just can't handle the truth and that is okay.

    • @Cat-ik1wo
      @Cat-ik1wo Před 2 lety

Of course, "misrepresentation." There are two ways to that.
      1. It takes one who has done it to know it
      2. Ya, I can see why someone would throw water on it. The truth hurts. You can always tell whose side one is on when one is trying to protect a secret.
My point on that comment, is I am sure that there was fact check going on. And not from the conquerors view. Not from the whitewashed.
When I do my research I look beyond the recommended story, I look at from all sources and written witness. The ones no one recommends or are obscured, the ones they put way in the back or the bottom. Because they don't want that known. They just want to push their agenda. Its in those books and letters and writings you will find the gold nuggets. The equilibrium. Because the time line and the dots will then connect. NOT THE NARRATIVE OF WHAT THEY WANT YOU TO BELIEVE!!
EXAMPLE: The Beatles sang a song with the line about Chinese Mao. How many people wondered about that!? The horrific story behind that name and face???
Conclusion: before saying MISINFORMATION. back it up with your facts, truth and the work behind that conviction.
Last, why do I still hear a narrative with the story about Machu Pichu that these people disappeared?!? And that there is no way those blocks of stones were not mam made. IMPOSSIBLE they say. That has all the hallmarks of whitewashed!!! Discreting another race, incomprehension that they were able to do that. Its so insulting!!! WTF?!? This!!! The AUDACITY to put it out to children to believe?? But in truth and fact, also from the same race who truly are nothing more than pagans, with the fantasy, delusions and out of touch with reality. Santa Claus, Easter bunnies, tooth fairies, and then scratch their heads why their own offspring are mentally deranged and morally depraved. Am I lying? Or are you?? Need a mirror? Go to the river, while your at it, clean your self you been down and dirty long enough!!

Yes. The Arab Muslim East and West Africa slave trade began many hundreds of years before the other Europeans. Arab people were just as diabolical in the slave trade business of African people as their Jewish and Christian brethren. Pain and suffering, is pain suffering. As is, dead is dead.
Christian and Jewish European people also used their religion to dehumanize African human beings. And the other Indigenous peoples they encountered to justify the oppression, their slave trade enterprise and self-invented white supremacy status.
Why black people willing continue to participate and pay homage to the Judeo-Christain-Islam religion is mind-boggling?
