Some viewers said it's a tough docu to watch. I'm non-white, not from EU, and not a Catholic, but from a place once was colonized by EU whites. It's exhilarating and liberating to watch this docu and thought it should be included in all high school history curriculum, especially in the US and EU.

If it were, it would only perpetuate the one-sided view that these atrocities are only borne by one people when the very obvious, well documented, and currently verifiable reality of today says otherwise.
Ignoring the realities of the HUMAN condition, not those of a well chosen sub-group, has resulted in a permanent underclass in an otherwise free society. Don't spread that nonsense another second. You only hurt people in doing so.

I stumbled three days ago upon Dr. Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz's book which I have since inhaled in audio format, hard as that rapid intake has been to metabolize. I found the book cauterizing, a relentless rhapsody, upending of my USA civic understanding, and why not? My predigested, accepted truisms about USA history now appear to be players in a fever dream. I would dearly love to witness her book debated among historians, to read academic reviews. I looked for reviews and found almost nothing! And here in this interview she states that indeed it was not reviewed in journals of traditional history/academic record (if I understand correctly what she said). Separately, via a podcast ad also within the last three days, I heard about the new documentary films. And now, deliberately upon searching, found this interview. I am glad ... sickened ... already thinking of what kinds of conversations this could trigger among people of different-from-my political bent to whom I intend to introduce these works. Greatly look forward to watching the films and intend as well to read Dr. Mamdani's book. Thanks to all involved.

This story needed to be told, the abhorrent behavior of empires with militaries that have been developing and perfecting the ability to as Gil Scott Heron says " to turn countries into cemetaries" while cloaking it in the narrative of patriotism needs to be exposed and re-exposed because of the amnesia and lack of truth which prevents society to learn from the past.
The wounds inflicted by indigenous annihilation, colonization, slavery and those who consider is their birth rite to dominate and rule continue to deny an accurate account of the truth of their ancestors real history. This wound continues to fester and poison the lives of all and especially the body-politic , this documentary exposes the would to light because wounds must heal from the inside out. It helps any creator/filmaker/artist to have the validation of the powerful people, there is even a practical aspect - the NY Film festival has limited resources and do not go everywhere looking for movies. Only hope for the small ones is to have some one individual in place, a person affiliated with both worlds - that of power and that of thinking sources that are not mainstream - to be the curator/promoter.

    7 important metaphysical questions.
    1) How do we remove the heavy lead called ignorance (greed) from the springboard of truth (love)...so that the springboard rebounds to happiness and launches US to heaven (joy, beauty and harmony)?
    2) How do we release the string of lies being pulled by ignorance (greed) from the bow of truth (love) ...so that the bow of truth (love) returns to happiness and propels US to heaven (joy, beauty and harmony)?
    3) How do we remove the current cornerstone called ignorance (greed) from life and replace it with the cornerstone of truth (love)?
    4) How do we knock down the wall of lies saying that "life is business" (greed)...so that the truth that "life is art" (creating joy) floods the earth and washes away it's ignorance (hate)?
    5) How do we fill a giant black hole in space called ignorance (greed) with light (love)...so that it's darkness (misery, murder, mass shootings, suicides, war, etc.) goes away and it's heavy gravitational pull stops sucking the joy out of life?
How do we make vampires (greed) who are "blind"..."see" the ignorance of transforming heaven (peace) into hell (war)?
How do we make the counting corpses who are "blind"..."see" the ignorance of transforming this paradise planet lifeboat into a polluted pig pen?

I am writing from Germany and just experienced, that one of the daughters , in grade 9, in english "learned" about the assimilation of the Indigenous people in the Americas by the colonizers going west. Introducing western structures.
That is, how misinformation is indoctrinated into the childrens minds and souls. (In this case a Waldorf School, but that's another topic in itself, the founders, Rudolf Steiner's, attitude and lectures about the Red Indians.)
This is touching also in hindsight to our families, american ancestors participating in the taking of land from the Indigenous people of North America. Out of an transgenerational aspect of understanding and feeling family history.

I agree with Charles C. Mann (author of "1491", "1493") -- contact with the Americas blew the Europeans' minds. Better agriculture, bigger cities, 20x more gold than existed in Europe, many sub cultures that have almost no hierarchy or taxation. The Euros were forced to have more self-awareness by the sheer magnitude of these differences, most of which favored the Americans.
The challenge for documentary film making in this area is to lay out the untold, lesser known parts of truth without getting bogged down refuting the dominant myths. The more that the narrative is focused on myth busting the more confrontational it seems. Such a dynamic can fuel even more tribalism while inhibiting the opportunity to improve the accuracy of history.

Raoul needs to move distribution out of the TV matrix, which has been abandoned by many despite the popularity of some TV series. I was greatly surprised at Canada's "Crave" network for TV and the relentless garbage action adventures it carries. I signed in and signed out in an hour, as I saw all that crap and ran away. EATB Is one of the greatest films ever made. It teaches so much, so quickly. I am proud of the white man who shot the woman chief, and his flag, I am him in a very real sense. But I am not of those who fear replacement and I hate or fear no man. EATB preaches the inevitability of what happened. This inevitability that EATB shows over and over sets us ALL free of whatever holds the past may have on us. As RP says in the movie, "I have no complaints" As this old German Viking from Chicago says, well, I do have complaints, but they are not cultural or racial, they are economic. The oligarchs are OUR COMMON ENEMY! We are not each other's enemy. I love Raul Peck for his great works as I love Baldwin and all great Americans who've contributed to humanity's common good. I include Jefferson, Franklin, Washington and their founding fellows and so should everyone else. I am proud of the Pioneers and Indian fighters. Why should I not be, they are me and in their hearts they fought for good as all men must do while they created "America". The Indians fought for good too. We, all of us humans, must especially fight for the good within us. Great humans like Mr Peck and the panel above make this job much more possible. God bless every mother's child. Love thine enemy so says the Lord. I do! Truly!!!

The simple truth is to compare yesterday to today without having one iota of care for the rules, beliefs, and realities of the times is the undertaking of a complete fool. I truly feel sorry for people who entrap themselves in the endless net of excuses and resentments that today’s society so adeptly offers up. I'll make it more simple. The real thing people like you can’t seem to reconcile is the realization that no one in particular thinks much about you - not good, not bad…..just nothing at all. Ayaan Hirsi Ali Author of “Infidel: My Life” has an interesting view on the west’s impact both negative in the form of the content of the movie introduced by Mr Peck but also the positive solutions that have allowed peoples from all over the world to gain freedoms that their cultures would not allow. Her experience as a Muslim woman and the release from the oppressive culture she came from in Africa when she came to Holland is an example of the western world not only moving past repression and exploitation but leading the world towards freedom and peace. The future is bright for all peoples, we HAVE learned from our past and here in America we are changing the culture too.

"Truth" is unfortunately not always "fact". And there is no "higher plane of existence". So I'm afraid your antiquated ideas of humanity are all ready well, out of date. "Whiteness" as you so humorously call it, is in it's dying days and has been for some time. What we are seeing is it's death gasp. The few, a real minority, clinging on to other antiquated ideas. You are fighting, in part your imagination. Something, unfortunately internalized, based on silly Hollywood movies, that were always mythology and never actual history, and the remnants of the deluded "winners" of days gone by. "Whiteness" doesn't exist and it never did. It was simply a temporary mass delusion in a world overrun by ignorance and naivety. The reason Eurasia dominated the past 1000-2000 years of "global" history, is because they were all fighting one another, which forced them to step up there game, technologically and tactically. Learning from one another through cultural diffusion was there real advantage. And now, since most people have access to that process, everyone has that opportunity to varying degrees. But that paradigm is dead. You, and this doc, are fighting a 90 year old man in the last days of his, personally celebrated life. Delusions of grandeur and all that. And those still clinging to that paradigm will be lost in the current. Because it only flows in one direction.
