I go back and look at the stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it - but all that had gone before

Raise it high as you can to increase its energy and pull in during drop, reducing its swing radius to increase its speed. Make sure chips don't fly at you, a splash guard like whole face shield may be more appropriate.
