An english teacher AND a world champion rower? Apparently, you _can_ be boat
What a pun! 👍
Lol
- Janek: Do you know what time is it?
- Me: Yes, it is beer o'clock.
- Janek: It is time for a coffee.
- Me: Sad Czech noises.
"Come study IN Pardubice!" And if I was younger I would definitely be tempted.
A Czech friend of mine gets very angry about English prepositions. “There are NO RULES!” he frequently shouts.
@@drstkova "In" is a rule when in a country. We go TO study IN a country. Czech just makes it a one stop affair. Speaking English is like playing the guitar, anyone can do it, but getting good at it? That's a different story.
ra georgian crossroads ? pls elaborate
Was thinking the same
why?? it worst city
I definitely need to visit this city. Honestly the best part of the Czech Republic is the cities like this. I visited Plzeň while staying in Prague and it was lovely to see a Czech city not overrun with tourism for a more authentic feel. Also no intrusive tourist trap BS. This looks similar.
If I ever went to Prague I'd just escape to Plzeň and stay there instead
@@kindmulberry7196 Plzeň is a fun day trip. There is a really cool little puppet museum, the Pilsner Urquell original brewery tour (Pilsner lager was invented in this city!). As for Pardubice in the video, it looks like a prettier city to walk around.
Aww, too bad I missed it. I was roaming around třída Míru just yesterday.
Few other tips or interesting facts:
1. Pardubice is a city of sports - besides already mentioned horse racing and speedway motorcycles, there is a great hockey team, historically one of the most successful in the country, also a football team that plays in the top league, a basketball team that also plays in the top league, etc. Pardubice is also a very flat region, so using a bike as a means of transport is very popular. And because of its flatness, it's also great for jogging, in-line skating, etc.
2. Pardubice is a city of transportation - there's an international airport that is just 10 minutes away from the main railway station (by bus). Although a connection to major European cities is not great atm, there was a direct flight to London before the pandemic so it might get reinstated at some point (fingers crossed). Speaking of the railway station - it's located on the main corridor that connects Hamburg - Berlin - Prague - Vienna (or Bratislava - Budapest). So yeah, you can use the railway station here to travel to other major EU cities. Or to many other cities.
3. If you love coffee then you’ll love Pardubice. There’s a lot of great coffee places that know how to make a good tasting coffee for you (including alternative brewing methods). Some examples - Putovní pražírna, Bakla cafe, Bílej Kocouř or Dobrý Kafe. But if you prefer the big coffee brands then there’s also Starbucks, Costa Coffee, or CrossCafe (Czech franchise, student-friendly).
4. There’s a lot of summer music fests, namely Majáles which takes place 5 min walk from the university, or Hrady, which takes place next to (below) a medieval castle Kunětická hora. Unfortunately, all fests have been canceled during this year due to the pandemic. But there’s a good chance they’ll reopen the following year.
5. Getting around the city is really easy. Besides the already mentioned possibility to commute by bike, you can also rent one (Nextbike) or you can rent an electric scooter (Bolt or Uber; and it's actually kinda useful here because there're almost no cobblestones, unlike in Prague, and a good amount of bicycle paths). Another option is to use a bus or a trolleybus, which can get you pretty much anywhere in the city, including the more distant areas. And it's cheap. And last but not least you can just use your feet because the whole city is about 1/6 of the size of Prague.
In any case, you are more than welcome to visit Pardubice 😊
I loved the tips, Jirka, thank you! About the communication, do you think I could visit Pardubice comfortably just with English?
@@fernandaxavier6122 Glad I could help 😊 I think it should be no problem, since there are a lot of international students, who also don't speak czech. The older ppl might not always understand you, but the younger generation speak just fine most of the time (or at least good enough). You'll definitely be able to go shopping, order a food or a coffee, buy a bus or a train ticket, etc. The only problem could probably be dealing with some officials. Also you can pay by card almost anywhere so use that instead of cash, wherever possible.
Missing my Erasmus days in Pardubice... I had an ambition to visit as many places as possible in Czech lands:
Pardubice, Prague, Kolin, Kutna Hora, Mlada Boleslav, Terezin, Olomouc, Ostrava, Cesky Tesin, Karvina, Cesky Krumlov, Ceska Trebova, Moravska Trebova, Hradec Kralove, Chrudim, Karlovy Vary, Plzen, Brno, Breclav, Snezka, Trutnov were the places that I spent time (either a couple of days or at least 4-5 hours). As a Turkish, I liked to explore Bohemia, Moravia and Silesianmoravia. I will never forget Ceske Drahy, RegioJet, Arriva and LeoExpress on those journeys...
Yes! I always ask for more videos on other places than Prague and I'm never disappointed. Before watching this video, I didn't even know that Pardubice existed! Thanks to you, I keep adding destinations to my travel list. Thank you!!
I am planning my next vacation so more this. Grand Tour around Czech Republic seems to be great idea.. Car, sleeping bag and 2 weeks of free time. Spend on good food, great beer and adventure. Not far from Poland so I will not declare bankruptcy by buying gas :D. So please more this kind of content. You should do episode on Těšín-Cieszyn. How one city can be in two different countries at the same time :D.
Planning the same thing next year, except trains and hotels instead of cars and sleeping bag
Looks like the Těšín-Cieszyn situation came from a boundary split in 1920.
Let's hope the border continues to stay open in the future.
I reccomend camps by lakes and rivers. It´s almost a tradition for czechs to spend some time on vacation in tents by the river :D
@@lisak4349 Pretty much same in Poland. We slavs are more independent than other nations. We like freedom. Camping is the best freedom of them all. You don't care about fancy hotels, about where to stay, where to go. I may pack my tent at any time and go to other place.
@@PaulPerusse i would really not recommend you going on trains.
If I was a foreigner and saw this video, I'd get an impression that all you can do in Pardubice is drink and study :D While they have lovely historical sights such as the exceptionally nice castle, the tower and the main square with the impressive town hall.
He did mention the sports but this video was sponsored by the school so it focuses on things students would do, like drink and study
Pardubice aren't boring for me, even after 14 years of my living there it's still pretty interesting place. I recommend visiting :).
I wanted to go to Prag for 3 dental implants, but it is kinda too much hassle. Is there some solid Pardubice dentist you know of?
What an aweskme little city!! Love your videos! We even used some of your recommendations on a recent trip to Prague 😁🙌🏼
One of the best places in Pardubice is Zelená Brána ( clock tower) Main train station-Pardubice hlavní nádraží. Castle or Kunetická Hora. There’s lots of places to visit ;)
When Kuneticka Hora was in restoration mode we slept there over night on one of the grassed areas in center ... The public transportation is very nice in Pardubice too and so it seems trolleybus no longer goes through tr. Miru
I recently found this channel as the algorithm gods blessed you! Love your content! And the city of Prague should definitely pay you for your work!
The main reason that I have heard about this city since before is because of the brewery and their beer Pardubický Porter. Then like someone else mentioned the ice hockey team seems quite good and have been qualified for CHL a couple of times if I remember correctly.
Ahoj Janku, skvělá práce ❤ jen bych ještě zavítala na náš Pardubický zámeček🏰 do Semtína (o semtexu) a na Kuňku (není to sice už v PCE ale stojí za návštěvu ❤) 🫶🏻
I stumbled onto your Pardubice video when you guys had Honest Guide version 1, that led me to visit this city, thank you for the bridge!
Great episode. Keep up the great work, fellas! The city square is very beautiful and walking around the square center is intersting, by the way!
This city looks amazing. I will include it on my list of cities to visit.
I was an Erasmus student in Pardubice! Best 6 months of my life!
All of my life I've been prefered Hradec Králové before Pardubice, but after wathing this I need to visit Pardubice again. / Každopádně super video jako VZDY!
You really make me want to visit these places
I was in Pardubice last wednesday it was great to move around. The only thing was that inside the castle there was nothing interesting apart an exhibition about the czech glassmaker. Great vidéo and thank to you i had an amazing holidays!
Hidden gem, very nice. Thanks a lot!
Appealing University town. Very calm and relaxed there.
Pardubice looks amazing !!
Pardubice is great, and only an hour from Prague by train
Good hockey in Pardubice...after Sparta Praha of course ;-) Great channel, BIG like
@@jennifer_____8833 Hey sfu pls! Thank you!
Well, if you'd like to see some winning hockey, you'd have to go to Třinec rather than Sparta.
That ''Maybe" bar seems awesome!! Definitely worth of a visit!!
Cześć, Janek! Pozdrowienia z Wrocławia, z Polski :)
I am honestly considering doing Erasmus here now since it has electronics engineering.
Seems pretty epic.
Pardubice is a great town, with a great ice hockey team, HC Dynamo Pardubice.
It’s also only an hour from Prague by train.
I looked into it after his last video they only offer czech classes...
Tak jsem studovat cesky.
There are 4 other tech schools in czechia so im weighing the offers
Do it! ;-)
Thanks for your guides! Going to visit Prague on the 26th. Felt inspired by your videos and i appreciate now knowing what to do and what to avoid
Prague is beautiful. Best City I have ever seen.
Place looks very nice great video on your part to introduce new places like this. Great 🙏
So the university and the students want foreigners to come and study there....that's so wonderful and welcoming. In America all you hear is complaints from staff and students about all the damn foreigners that are studying there. People keep saying to me....if you like the Czech Republic so much why dont you move there....which of course I am and will happily contribute my time to tell others what a wonderful place it is.
Just AMAZING
Definitely I will visit on my next trip
love your content, even after the breakup of your previous channel. keep it going!
i was there in 2019 for karate tournament, its beautiful small city and i can"t wait to back there again
QUE LINDA CIUDAD, MUY LINDA. sOLAMENE VI LA ESTACION DE TREN CUANDO PASE CAMINO A VIENA. GRACIAS POR COMPARTIRLA
The runway wasn't a bad idea for electric aircraft, they can get their power from the trolley wires 😇
😆
Oh so those buns are similar to Streuselschnecke in Germany - cool!!!
Went two years ago lovely town found a fantastic coffee shop walked the castle walls etc .. a .must visit from Prague
I was supposed to visit Pardubice and then the pandemic hit. I probably will never be able to visit Pardubice or Czech Republic again but it's nice seeing it every week through your video's.
What pandemic? I don´t see the rich building new cemeteries to make enormous profits from it.
best university Ad ever !
Thank you for tips. I really enjoyed Cafe Bajer
Awesome content😎
I love your channel and the Czech republic so much! Love from Germany!
I hope Janek does this with more cities in czech 🤩
I have been to Maybe bar like twice before I moved from Pardubice to Prague. I can say it’s really a nice place with good customer service
Great video! Thank you for mentioning the "Golden Helmet" motorcycle race, also known as Speedway. There is a annual Speedway Grand Prix in Prague... Please do a video about this. As it is visited by thousands of fans. It would also be good if you did videos about sport in Prague as well. All the best.
3:00 That cafe looks like such a vibe.
Cafe Bajer is one of my favorite places in CZ)) highly recommend!
20 years younger and I’d definitely consider studying there! Seems a really lovely place. 🙂
I'm 52 and Im studying here. What's stopping you
@@treintaydiez Good point mate!
@@treintaydiez Hi, I usually don't write CZcams comments but I am 53 and will start Master's program at the University of Pardubice this September, so this was an incredible coincidence. :) May I ask some questions about the University if you don't mind?
Great video have you done a video in kosice I’m going in may
What an incredible place. 🇬🇧❤
A beautiful place to be! 💯👍🏻✔🔝
2:26 what t-shirt is that with the red rose, it looks great!
mate your one of the best
Yeah i will probably begin my country visit with this town,i don't quite fancy the capitals way too touristy for my taste i am a calm seeking kinda tourist.
Thanks for your tips.
Nice interresting video as all of your videos.
Have a nice day.
3:13 the green sign on the wall says "Agentschaft der Tschechoslowakischen Versicherungs A.G." which is german for 'Agency of the Czechoslovak Insurance A.G.'
Roman Smolka je největší předností studia na UPCE
Awesome!
Then focus more on stuff that isn't food, please? Would love to see the horse racing or motorcycle!
It's a steeplechase race where horses are injured or killed every year. It's worthy of focus because of how cruel it is to actually want to enter a horse in it.
Horse racing in the czech republic , now that actually sounds funny.
Woud totally watch an episode on that one.
Cheap food, cheap beer, and ATM scams. I don't ask for more from Honest Guide.
I smoke weed on my CZcams channel & i do reaction videos too😅💨!!
Welp, since this is a sponsored videos to get people to study in Pardubice, the focus obviously is on presenting cheap and good places around town for those who might consider living there for a few years... I basically love the idea of just seeing the not so well known places and have meals among locals over having another pointless and random "Top Sights Guide".
Visited in 2017 loved it
It's incredible how chamged (for good and modern) to a more desirable town/city to live since 10 years ago❤
Can you please make a video for Mladá Boleslav?! 😊
SO good vídeo
went to pardubice like 10 times per year for 10 years now. Just for hockey. Only went to the city centre to get some pizza before hitting the road home or to hradec. sad ive missed out so much.
Previous video about Pardubice was much more better 😉 why is in private mode ? I want old video about Pardubice back please 😛
I came to Pardubice today after watching this video mainly because I wanted to escape the chaos of Praha on a Saturday. I saw 3 trdelnik standa all of which were empty.
Great video! I enjoy watching all your content. We are hoping to visit the Christmas market in Prague in December. We will be visiting from the US. Can you tell me the Covid requirements for US citizens to enter? Thanks in advance.
An episode about Milovice would be nice. It's a small town 35 kms from Prague which isn't really interesting by itself but the history of the town is cool - it's rebuilt old soviet military base (that had a direct train connection with Moscow 32 years ago)... into a regular Prague suburb town.
There is Mirakulum, country's largest and most popular amusement park which is like a Czech version of Disney land... the park is connected by a narrow-gauge railway with another huge adventure park that offers rides in old soviet tanks and other military vehicles. Right next to these parks is a very rare nature reserve with bisons, aurochs and tarpans, nowhere in the world found together at one place... to sum it up, there is also a nice popular Café place right at the town's railway station's vestibule - from there it's 15 minutes walk to the nature reserve.
or, or, or Semtin, the place where Semtex comes from... what? Ok, maybe not
Ah, my Alma Mater, Áčko is a legend :D
You missed the best Cafe Bajer, it’s the one next to Zelena Brana 😉
if you ever come to Pardubice i recomand you to visite "steak station" restaurant, you will love it
It's so refreshing to see your civic pride in these videos! It's so rare these days.
looks homie ❤️
It would be nice and useful for a foreigner viewer if you could add some simple geographic info about city location on the map and how to reach it.. etc thanks tho for the lovely vid!
LOVE Pardubice! Also, I love seeing Janek eat sweets! I don't want him to develop diabetes but if he can safely eat sweets in every video, I vote "yes!"
Hello
thanks for the good clip
why do restaurants in the czech republic have a u in front of the name ?
example u fleku
greetings
patric
Next time i will Visit Czech Republic, i will not only visit Prague and Plzeň. I want to visit Pardubice too. Looks interesting here :)
So you will go from the middle (Prague) to the west of Czech Republic (Plzeň) and after that, you will go all the way back to Prague then littile bit on north and a bit longer way on east
Wow
Looks like a lovely place. Be very proud promoting everything the Czech Republic has to offer. All on my must visit list.
When you said Cinnamon buns .. it made me smile thinking about the episodes in two and half men about cinnamon buns
I suggest you check Life of Boris review of Prague! It would be interesting to herd what you think about his experience
Been looking at the school since your last pardubice video. Im quite tempted to attend i reached out to them and they only offer electrical engineering in czech... Tak jsem studovat cesky.
We loved our visit to Pardubice, unfortunately getting touristed up, told my wife to enjoy it now, because it will not be the same when we return ☹️
How do you get there from the airport and what is the local accommodation like? I would love to visit.
Don’t forget Autosport Gajar , local Rallye Team and Subaru / Mitsubishi specialist! Very fast driver Pavel Gajar!
Hi,
Your videos are very useful. Can you please do videos about London, UK.
Many thanks. 🙂
Wow, that town looks lovely. Any senior citizen classes at the school? :)
look at the website in description, easiest way ;)
I've never been early but here I am!
@@jennifer_____8833 Get the hell Away from here.
Can you do a video from Ostrava?
I do not know what it mean in the Czech Republic, but in Denmark Bajer, is a nice cold bottle of beer.
Actually nothing... I bet thats the owners name 🤣
You forgot, the GOAT goaltender, Dominik Hašek
Chuchle 2022!
Wish I had seen this video before I visited Pardubice lol
Hello honest guys…..come do a video on Prague 7. It’s very cool!
I live in Pardubice, and you definitely need to visit tearoom CHELSEA
Wielka Pardubicka!
Happy Halloween 🎃👻🦇🪦 Janek!
Do they celebrate in Prague?
Halloween was commonly celebrated here before communism (not in today popculture style ofcourse), but in communism, it disapeared, most of older people celebrate "soul day," but in last years, Halloween in western meaning is common and you can see pumkins everywhere.
@@Pidalin That's educational, didn't know we had Halloween before
@@tallll70 It's hard to say what is halloween and what not, it's originaly celtic tradition, Christians replaced it with their all souls day which is celebrated here now, but older traditions were not completely forgotten, we were under influence of germanic culture and in first republic era, we were under strong influence of USA, so today horror things and pumkins are imported from USA, but it was known already before WWII, it's not something what magicaly apeared on borders in 1989. These holidays and traditions on end of october are so mixed that it's really hard to say what is halloween and what is all souls day, it's not a coincidance that it's almost in same time.
4:59 - Is that the Flintstones car on a trailer driving though the background?!
Ay, mi Pardubice!!!
