This movie is so relevant today. I'm 64 and this is one of my all time favorite films. It would be so inspiring for Patriots today seeing how we've been manipulated all these years. This was made in 1939.
I just watched it the day before Christmas for the first time... In my opinion, it's just as good as Citizen Kane.
If the people of this country don't return to these ideals, we will all be lost in the social chaos and political tyranny that is at our very door step now.
It's a feel good movie. These "values " have not ever existed and it's been about power /money from the beginning!

I am also 64 and this Movie raises the question of who are the shareholders in big Pharma. If they are real individuals what are their affiliations. If We are to remain a Free People We must discern exactly who are those in all government offices and positions. Their Oath of Office must be strictly enforced. Whoever approaches that Jewel which is The Constitution and Bill of Rights however obliquely with proposals and legislation that will ultimately result in the usurpation of power away from the People making them dependent upon corruptible government actors for safety and livelihood must be immediately Terminated from office. If it is found that any government actor through any relationship or affiliation and or extended affiliations has acted in contempt of their Oath and the Constitution they are to be considered guilty of treason punishable By Death. To any asking why so harsh a penalty I answer not only tell it to the Marine but also every American Serviceman , Gold Star Family , Allies and any who risked and suffered all in Our struggles with Clandestine and Deadly enemies.
I call bullshit too whoever thinks that fighting against corruption/ for all Americans and common good can’t be done because when it really boils down too it when there’s a will there’s a way and in the words of Mr. Smith We’ll keep fighting for this “lost cause” - it’s just the idea of the United States of America of a nation of “We The People” of all people not just a select few should have say in our government and yes “oh, it’s always been this way there’s nothing We can do about it” really? We’ve all given up so quickly I’m a human being God dammit and my life matters too rather do things and find my Persuit of Happiness just like any other American and yes following our dreams are hard but... it’s that will too not be a desk jockey or a janitor cleaning up kids puke because fuck that I want meaning/ purpose - B U T what I mean is government is supposed too protect our rights/ freedoms not run our lives point issss corruption weakens the bedrock of our republic and if not fixed then government will become completely a bureaucratic business with no backup of We The American People and We wonder why Congress has a 2% approval rating reason being because they can’t get shit done because there polarized and can’t talk too each other and what could have been a Great Depression 2.0/ the laws that prevented such thing from happening again got thrown out and are back in place for another collapse (2008 Recession/ Great Depression) and all those control freaks/ money laundering, corrupt frauds care about is fundraising/ money instead of running the country which those dirty acts alone defeat the reasonings of calling the a United States a Representative Democracy being voter oppression and lying its all you see those yellow teeth smiling motherfuckers on the commercials that say “I’ll fight for you” and fuck you in the ass when We request a bill with massive support and our Representative/ Senator says NO that would ruin my relationship with my special interest/ lobbyists friends well too the assholes that like power and money you’ll be remembered as a fool that didn’t care for anyone but there self. It’s just We’re Not Too Far Gone but We Survive This By Working Together Not Apart and it’s not Right or Left all sides are dirty/ the whole system is filthy and full of mindless turds that don’t think and debate an issue sooo really I don’t care if people think its a lost cause I’ll and others will still fight for this lost cause being too have hope that our Republic/ Democracy will return in the hands of We The American People it’s possible We just needs too fix it not from the inside but from town to town, county to county, state by state - being the American Anti Corruption Act and if not then let’s just elect leaders who actually care but yeah it was a lot but this film is still really relevant today and still discusses and brings up the same questions that still need too be talked about and discussed still too this day in the great year of 2020 and so on.
Also if doesn’t matter if your Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, or independent point being We must work together and all voices/ points of view matter which that’s what democracy is all about not just 1 point of view but multiple

As a senior in high school who plans on going into politics someday, I love watching this because I completely agree with you, and want to fight alongside you. We can still fight against corruption for all Americans!! It's not too late!!! It doesn't matter a person's political party. It matters their morals, integrity, love, fearlessness, and will to fight for what is right! Let's do this thing together!!

The private sector and big business is exactly what mister Taylor stood for in the movie. It's exactly what Republicans fight for on a daily basis: Less tax breaks on big business's. The health-care industry in this country is a "for profit" industry, and when you have people's health being run as a business, the business will always do what makes it the most money.
So you dislike health care being run as a for profit business.... Well, the Soviet Union didn't run it for profit---how did that work out? Ever consider going to Cuba for health care--and not the health care you can buy for profit with dollars, but the wretched health care their average citizen gets?

Can you name any country in Western Europe like Germany or Spain where healthcare is free and universal. They are democratic systems that have first-rate public health. Where a person with cancer, for example, is treated by a team of oncologists, radiotherapy, surgery, pain unit, psychiatry, rehabilitation, family doctor and of course all tests, treatments, medicines and rehabilitation facilities and devices are free .... the reverse of the coin of health as a US business is not the public health of a communist country; It is the public health of the capitalist western European countries but with governments that care about their citizens.
