  • Jaguar I-Pace is an electric SUV launched in 2018. Backl then it had very few competitors, at least in Europe, where Tesla was still a novelty. With cars like KIA eNiro, Nissan Leaf or Volkswagen e-Golf nobody seriously thought about the upcoming electric revolution. Meanwhile, Jaguar unveiled a thoroughly modern model, completely different from anything in the British brand's range, with parameters that 5 years later still look decent. This is the 2024 Jaguar I-Pace.

In my opinion its still the best looking EV out there. But can't help thinking that Jaguar could have really done more for 2024. Increase efficiency, longer range and as you mentioned charging speed. Amazing car being overtaking for efficiency by cars much cheaper. All that extra money just for looks won't get many customers.

depends on the usage and the owners behaviour. e.g. it totally meets my requirements as I drive daily max 250km, charging at home/work (sometimes approx 4x a year 450km). I rather enjoy the silence and the quality of the build then the faster charging nor efficiency. Obviously the price and what you get is not in line at all.

I am considering Nio EL6, but probably EC6 when/if it arrives in EUR. Otherwise Fisker Ocean. I had the I-Pace with the smaller output- The EV320, which was a limited edition at the time there was really only Tesla on the market. I loved the luxury feel, the driving and the design- still do, but it was too much consumption on average and as prices rose so fast and the market was empty with second hand cars, I sold it again and made a pretty Penny.. If prices would not have increased, I would consider it again, but as it is the two other EV's I am considering are 60% of the price here in DK.

It seems in Denmark you have a broader choice, when it comes to EVs. In Poland we are only starting to get Chinese cars, mostly ICE. NIO is a private import from Germany over here, so someone really must want one :)
I remember I wanted the I-Pace, when it first came out, but it was just too expensive. I imagine nobody is actually paying for it, what they are asking, but that's a different story.

I got one on Pirelli Scorpion winter 20” and it is the best snow car I’ve ever had. (Compared to BMW 120d xDrive for example)
Things to consider - power and braie modulation from an inverter controlled by a computer is waaayyy faster and more precise than traction control on ICE or ABS.
Especially high regen is braking on very slippery snow types way better than ABS.

@@davorinskvaridlo3567 I haven't tried the I-Pace in winter conditions (and I'm sure it all depends on software version), but 2-3 years ago regen on slippery surfaces was generally dangerous. At least in most EVs I reviewed at the time, including an early BMW iX 40. The worst part was when wheels on one side of the vehicle were on relatively grippy tarmac, and the other two wheels were on something slippery, like wet leaves on the side of the road.

    • @davorinskvaridlo3567
      @davorinskvaridlo3567 Před 4 měsíci +2

@@MarekDrivesENG I understand, but my experience is JRL engineers made their homework.
In m-split you can feel the car getting to rotate, but in a blink it lowers the regen power to limits of actual grip and ESP straights you again. Its very convenient and safe in my opinion. In case of trouble just let of the gaspedal and steer.
I personally don't like high regen in normal conditions, because you can't let off the gas casually and I think it is a bit less efficient depending on driver (I like to coast with no regen in N). But I highly prefer it in snow conditions, I just can't do better as a driver. It fells so much more sophisticated than my other cars ABS.

With Jag's reputation for building unreliable vehicles you'd think they'd want to be more competitive with BMW and Audi price wise. A Q4 well equipped in Canada is 75k. This thing is 110k. Model Y AWD is varies between 60 and 67k depending on Elon's mood.
I love the look of Jags but seriously Jag, you are living in the past thinking you've got something other luxury brands don't. Thanks for the review Marek!!

@@anemeth9281 I agree that it's more luxurious, but the bigger battery doesn't help if it's less efficient. You'll still get less range than the Q4, for example, and once you're out of charge the I-Pace will charge slower.
The I-Pace charges 10-80% at 360km/h compared to 630km/h for the new updated Audi Q4 45. That's a massive difference.

Great car but the (UK) dealer network utterly sucks. 3 months, 3 months it took to book in advance to replace a common TCU battery fault. Prior to that, I called the jag dealers to diagnose a fault that had developed and again 2 months to look at it. Before they had a chance the car eventually completely failed and needed the Manufacturer to send out Jag assistance to resolve some serious faults. I have the option of more than one dealer and they were all useless.
I fear for Jaguar if they truly want to move to EV, their dealer network is simply not upto the job of supporting these types of cars.

The real world range was 370/380 Kms on a full battery, but its not an LFP/LMFP battery so it cant be fully charged except on an occasional basis. the 80/10 rule applies so the range is approx 250Km. If anyone thinks I am paying 110K for that, they are mad. I'm not. Diesel rules.

An Austrian built car (by a contractor) made for an Indian owned Company….not much ‘British’ there really. I tried the car, twice hoping to like it as I’ve always had Jaguars for years….bought a Tesla MYLR instead, cheaper, better, more range, more space, bigger boots, bespoke charging network….the list is endless

  • @nosoupforyou425

Jaguar really should be ashamed for allowing this gem to whither on the vine. Going all $120k plus luxury electric after failing miserably on an 80 quid is just dumb.... sad part is, magna steyr offered JLR upgrades on range and charge rates but was told to pound sand. So that tech went into the Fisker. And without that magna steyr build quality what will those new all electric jaguar drivers be getting....? Junk that will be outdated at the moment of purchase.

The reason you forgot it existed is that it is a six year old car, not built by JLR and the contract did not allow for any upgrades so it is hopelessly out of date technology-wise. Add the appalling build quality and famed Jaguar lack of reliability and it is as much fun as shutting your thumb in the door. That saves listening to the other 13 minutes of your video. Bye

The only "good" thing about this car is its looks. Technologically inferior, cruddy software, archaic electro-mechanics and poor miles per kw/h - all for an eye-watering price. People are now more concerned with the technology and electro-mechanical efficiency, and in these departments Jag is medieval.
