5 years later, I just fixed my uncle's dryer because of this video. Major props, you rock!
Awesome! Congrats, thanks for the feedback
I watched this and followed your instructions, and my dryer is working again! I used stranded copper wire to clean the old solder because I didn't have any solder wick. I also used 12G stranded copper wire because I couldn't find 18. Thanks for posting this! Saved me a few hundred dollars! Mine was burned in exactly same place as yours. Excellent video!
This video just save me $800. I went and bought a $20 soldering iron kit and saved my dryer. I even did the improvement in this video with 18 gauge wire. It works people, thank you to the owner of this video. All heroes don’t wear capes!
Awesome!
Is there a special type of wire you used. Stranded?
I don’t think I’ve ever been happier at how perfectly this worked!! Got home from work yesterday to this being an issue. Out of nowhere. I was heartbroken, crying to my husband about it. This morning he followed your instructions, and without spending a single penny (because we had everything we needed) my dryer works like new again! Thank you!!!
Awesome!
Very helpful video. I had done the first 2 points 10 years ago. I only just now reconnected the other 3 points. Now it’s back to running and the wife is happy.
Awesome! Happy wife...
Excellent video. This was exactly my issue with Maytag 3000 dryer, and this repair brought it back to life.
THANK YOU! I would not have known where to even start, but thanks to you I spent 1 hour, no money and fixed it.
Awesome! Congrats!
Thanks to this video, my dryer survived another day to dry my clothes. It's such a failure design. My control board was full of black residue after the soldering point vaporize. Good thing the relay waa was good. Awesome fix and tutorial!
Ditto... Before the scheduled appointment of the Appliance repair I decided to check the thermal switch and thermistor, which were fine. Then opened the top and took out the control board and it was burnt in the same location. Jumped the connections and VWALLAH!! Thanks for this video. Saved a bundle.
Awesome! The appliance repair company would have likely sold you an expensive new board.
Repair many of these boards and I use a paper clip to bridge across the relay to the other two contact point and so far have hold up for years after, usually bend it in a small circle over the burnt terminal then shape it to angle and meet the two other contact points. John
Yep. Just what it needed. As you mentioned about strengthening the other side of that circuit with the second wire.... that was actually the side that was burnt on mine. Fantastic video! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback
Thank you so much for posting this. I've never soldered anything in my life before, and your instructions were very helpful and fixed my problem! Cheers!
James Teichroew great! Thanks for the feedback.
Great video, I repaired my Kenmore yesterday using your video as a guide. Thank you!
Awesome! Congrats!
Thanks so much for providing this video! Great recommendation on the improvement too. My dryer gave me the error code after 10 years of reliable service. Here is to another 10 years thanks to your fix! If anyone is hesitant in their soldering skills, or lack of, try it! It's quite easy and you really only need ot solder the wires on the contact points.
Thanks!
Just followed this and fixed my Maytag. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Saved me HUNDREDS of dollars!
Awesome!
Video was a great help. My failed solder joint was on the opposite side of the relay but you repair process worked great. Thanks for the video
Man I love CZcams and these great vids on DIY fixes! Your video helped me today when I was in a bind! I’m just a novice handy man and total noob to soldering but pulled it off without a problem, thank you!!!
Awesome! Feels good to be able to continuously help people with a simple video, thanks for the reply! Congrats on fixing it!
This fix definitely works. I am very much an amateur with the solder gun but I was able to make the jumpers and it has worked now for several weeks. Thanks for putting the time together to do this video.
Awesome! I'm glad you were able to fix it! Much cheaper than buying a new board.
This WORKS! I am by no means experienced with repairing control boards or soldering, but this video helped me fix my dryer. 11-year-old dryer blew out this week and $20 solder kit (Home Depot) and $4 soldering wire got it done. The hardest part was removing the control board without damaging anything, but once it was out, it took me 5 minutes to do what the video shows. If you are contemplating this project, DO IT! Do not pay anyone $400+ to fix something that can cost you less than $25. Someone wanted to charge me $180 for the visit, $260 for the replacement control board and $80 an hour. A job that took me 20 minutes from start to finish and $25 in tools.
Awesome! Glad to hear. Happy I could help!
Awesome video. Did it in 10 minutes saved me hundreds and right before Christmas. Thank you.
Awesome! Merry Christmas!
Great video. This problem occurred this morning on my Whirlpool Cabrio dryer, it was a burned “contact” on the circuit board as described in this video. Re-soldered the contact, included soldering a 18 gauge jumper wire as described in the video, reassembled and dryer now works. Thanks!
Awesome! Thanks for reporting back
This is incredible! I have a Maytag 9000 series dryer that just stopped working yesterday after 9 years. Showed the F01 error code. Took it apart and was burned out at the same spot. Unsoldered all the connections you mentioned and resoldered with a 16 gage wire (didn't have any 18 gauge) Works perfectly again! Saved me $183.50 for a new board from Amazon. Anyone who has this same problem this will save you a ton of money! Thanks!!!
Awesome! Congrats
Thanks for the great video!! You just saved me a lot of $$$$ and a week or more without a dryer. Probably took me less than 30 min. for the entire repair. Please keep making these super helpful videos!! Thanks again!!!!
Awesome, thanks for the feedback
Thank you so much for this video! Our 11-year old dryer just died - and we're going to try this trick now to eek more work out of it! :)
Great video, fixed my dryer and saved me from having to pay for a new one or hire a repairman
Awesome, repaired my whirlpool duet dryer F01 code. Thank you
Incredible it worked and saved us over $200
Thank you and God Bless
Thanks!
Gracias por éste video, lo vi varias veces para seguir las instrucciones. Todo estuvo perfecto, el resultado fué magnífico y mi secadora funciona de nuevo. Pude economizar mucho dinero. Gracias por ayudar a la comunidad.
Great video. I priced the board at about $320, but had mine fixed in about 30 minutes. I only did one of the jumpers, because my soldering is so bad that I may mess up the other solder joints that were still good. Thanks!!
Thank you for this video. Saved me a pile of money.
My Whirlpool Cabrio suffered this exact error code and failure after about 8 years in service. At first I was going to buy a new dryer, then decided instead to order new control board a few hours before finding this video. Now I can return the board and save myself about $130.
Awesome!
Thank you so much!! This is an amazing video and extremely helpful! You have saved so many good dryers from going to a landfill before necessary!
Thanks for the feedback! It's horrible how many dryers went to the landfill just because of a broken solder connection!
Nice video. I am on fixed income and couldn't stand the new board or new dryer. I am now a hero to my wife and daughter who spent yesterday hanging clothes on the line. You are my hero!
Awesome! Glad the video was helpful.
Thank you for posting this repair. It was a quick, easy and cheap fix.
Awesome thanks for the feedback
Mes remerciements pour avoir mis cette démonstration en ligne. Le problème était tel que celui décrit et j'ai pu faire la réparation moi-même en évitant ainsi de devoir mettre toute la machine au rebut et contribuer ainsi à sauver l'environnement
Thank you so much for this video. You’ve saved us so much money. Our dryer is going strong, once again. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome! Thanks for watching
I want to thank you so much for making that video that fix didn't even take me 15 minutes and it's save me over $200
Trevor Ginapp awesome! Thanks
Thank you! I followed your awesome instructions and fixed my dryer. Excellent video!!
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback.
Worked for our Maytag Bravos MEDB800VQ0. Thanks for posting - very helpful!
Thanks!
Awesome video and explanation! I was able to drive to my local hardware store, buy a soldering iron and complete this job in like 30 minutes. I went to another video to look on how to take out the control board and it is fairly easy; literally four screws and some plastic clips.
Awesome! Glad I could help!
Great video, I was able to fix my dryer in less than 30 minutes. Thank you for taking the time to post!!
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback
THANK you so much for this video! Happy to have a working dryer again!
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback
This fixed my issue as well. I was able to replace the relay like I have seen in other videos but that still gave F01 error. Adding that jumping cable did the trick. Thanks so much
Awesome! Congrats on fixing it.
Im so glad I didn’t give up and buy the $230 board or buy a new dryer! I saw your video yesterday, bought a solder iron and just completed this fix ...it works!!! My solder job doesn’t look as good as yours, but it worked!
Thank you so much for the great advice and instruction.
Awesome! It's very satisfying to fix it yourself and not give in to ridiculous parts pricing!
Thank you so much, 3.99 solder iron from harbor freight, 1.59 solder wire, and 61 cent piece of wiring and a few minutes later my dryer is back up and running all thanks to this video. Saved me over $280 you sir are awesome!
Great! And that's a pretty good price for those tools too.
I did this over 5 years ago. It work perfectly. It just recently fail I'm about to run though the same procedure again. Great information and explanation.
You might want to replace the relay if it failed again.
Thanks so much!!!! My problem was exactly as you described and showed. It was an easy repair. I'm hero for the day in my home. THANK YOU!!!
Awesome! Have a beer
Man you hit the nail right on the head!!! thanks!!

Thank you so much! You just saved me some serious cash! There is no doubt a service tech would have nailed me for a service call & a new control panel.
Ian Kyranakis Awesome! Glad the video was useful for you.
Awesome video! This is really the best way to repair these boards. Thanks so much!!
You're welcome! Thanks for the feedback
Thanks! I decided I give it a try since the wait time for new circuit board was going to be over a week and over $600. Fixed my Maytag 5000 dryer.
Thanks again!
Awesome! Congrats on fixing it yourself.
Thank you! Just finished the Repair/Modification as you did. The dryer now works fine. This issue is also common to my Aqua Rite Pool control board. They just put too current for the size of circuit board runs.
Awesome! Glad you could fix it.
Works like a charm. Hero status with the famskis. Thanks for posting!
Awesome! congrats!
Clean, solid repair. Thanks! I’m gonna go fix mine, now.
Thanks! Let us know if it works!
You saved me SO MUCH money. Thank you!!
Awesome!
A great job, I was planning on just replacing the board now Ill do the repair.
No need to replace the whole board for a bad factory solder job... You'll just be replacing it with the same thing that just broke.
Fixed mine! Worked like a charm thanks for the video!
Awesome!
Just did the fix as shown. Worked and running great. Thanks
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback
Worked like a charm. Thank you ,Thank you, Thank you!
Worked for me on my Maytag Epic Z.. Thanks
A big thank you! Great detailed explanation.
Thanks!
the jumper is a great idea and worked nicely, Thank you
Great! Thanks for the feedback
Great Video, fixed my Whirlpool duet dryer in 15 minutes. Note that depending on how severe the failure you may not see copper around the pin but will at the trace; use flux and lay down solder to fill the gap in the via. Easy Peezy. My dryer was 11 years old when this failure occured
Awesome!
Appreciate the detailed video. Just fixed my Whirlpool as you detailed and it's working again (had the F01 Code). Will have a new relay available to swap out if it fails in the future. 👍🏻
Awesome! Congrats
Another success story! You rock. I found video and hubby knocked it out. Exactly as you described. (Our Whirlpool Duet had a F01 error) Now back up and running... Woo hoo!
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback
Just did this . Thanks for the video. Fryer is back in action
Awesome!
This totally works!!! I had the exact same issue. You can buy a cheap soldering iron at Walmart for $10 to get started. I had never soldered anything in my life. Thanks for your help!

Awesome!
Kenmore HE5 dryer had F01 fault code. One end was burst and burned. Soldered and used a wire as well to connect to the other end as mentioned in the video. 👍 Dryer runs now 🎉
other line is still good. (Don’t try to fix If it not broken).
Thank you for the steps !
Awesome!
Thanks for the detailed information! I was able to fix my 10+ Whirlpool Cabrio :-)
Glad to hear! Thanks for the feedback.
Great Video! My duet dryer was doing nothing after holding start button. At first there was no error code but after about 5-10 seconds after pressing start, control board threw a PF1 error. Checked the control board and noticed the same burned connection to the relay. Ordered new relay on Amazon (14 bucks), removed the old one, and soldered the new one in. Reinstalled the control board and it started up right away. Saved at least 150 by not buying new control board. Did not do reenforced wiring, but will consider it if this happens again. If you see a PF1 error, check the control board for burn marks, loose solder joints and see if it is something you can fix.
Awesome! Yea relays are cheap, might as well replace it while you're there.
Thank you so much for this! it help we out a lot.
David Eshu awesome!
Crazy, it actually worked. Thanks for the video!
Awesome! Glad you could fix it
@@denispoirier19 still waiting for the dryer to explode or start on fire lol. Great detailed instructions, saved me $500 in repairs, or having to buy a new dryer. I put hot glue on the new terminals after soldering. So far 1 load down, wife looked at me like a was a genius after repair (this guide is our secret).
@@Skinwalker-Ranch hot glue probably shouldn't be on there but if it works that's what counts. I hope the lady rewards you for being an awesome appliance handyman! Lol
Thanks, you make me save a lot of money and time
Awesome!
Thanks! Great fix! I put in only one jumper wire. Only the one that was faulty.
Awesome, should be ok. It's not that hard to get to if you ever need to retouch it
Perfect fix for my Whirlpool Cabrio. I used 2 jump wires. See ya F1 code! Thanks for the help!
Great! You're welcome!
You are my savior, thank you sooo much.
You're welcome! Thanks for the feedback
Thanks for the great video. My dryer's back in business. Besides the burnt out connection on the board, you'll see the plastic housing on the inside charred as well. NOTE: After the repair, when I run the diagnostic (88) test, it kept flipping back to the F01 error. I about threw the board away in frustration, but then I closed the dryer door and ran a test load. Worked perfect. Don't assume the F01 on the diagnostic test means you failed. Try a test load.
Perfect!
Thank you so so much ...I was able to fix my dryer saving me around $200 ... What a life saver!!!
Awesome! Congrats!
Excellent video. I just fixed mine the same way!
Great! Thanks for the feedback
This is amazing , thank you ! This worked !
Great video, used 12 gauge copper wire I had which was a bit overkill and stiff, but with a solid solder connection to both pins it worked fine on my Maytag Epic Z. Poor electrical design for connecting a component rated at 30 amps.
That'll work fine.
worked like a charm! thanks!!
You're welcome!
Great vid. Saved me alot of cash that I didn't have. You are the man
Thanks!
I second that my warranty ran out 4 months ago. Washer broke down 3 days ago. Repair man quoted me $387 and some change. Thank God for CZcams videos.

Had the same problem in the same spot. The question might be asked "why do they mostly fail on that side when the traces are the same on both sides?" I suspect that it has something to do with the relay contacts starting to erode, and that pin is closer the the contact point than the other one. I would suggest replacing the relay if you are going to the trouble of taking everything apart. They are only $12 on Amazon. Then you will have new contacts. At least for a while...
None of the ones I have fixed failed again but I agree that it would be good practice to replace the relay.
