Drakolimni Verlinga
Dragon Lake Verlinga is located on a plateau, at an altitude of 2050 meters, on Mount Lakmos or Peristeri, above Haliki. To the north rises the highest peak of Lakmos, Tsoukarela (2,295 m.) and to the south dominate the rocks of the Megas Trapos peak (2,240 m.). It is an almost circular lake which is created by the snow that melts on the surrounding slopes. Streams in the shape of meanders form around it and that is why the Vlachs called it Verlinga, which in Vlach means twisting. It is characterized by the phenomenon of draining its waters, creating a funnel, as a result of which it dries up in the summer. The waters are led to the exit of the plateau and continue low, forming one of the sources of Aspropotamos. In summer, the meadows around the lake are awash with wildflowers. Among the greenery, blue crocuses (Crocus veluchensis) and yellow buttercups (Ranunculus acris) fly out, creating a beautiful carpet for the dragon of Verlinga to sleep on.
The dragon lakes in the Greek mountains are a geological phenomenon of the Ice Age. According to a legend, a dragon once lived in the area. In the form of a snake, he threw himself through the rock and, crawling, sank back into the earth, at the point where the waters leave. From the place where the dragon came out, water sprang up, which followed its serpentine course over the meadows, forming the Verlinga. The locals call it the loaf because, as it is said, as many loaves of bread as one eats, one will immediately digest them if one drinks water from the lake. It is the third dragon lake of Pindos. The other two are located in Tymfi and Smolika.

Η δρακόλιμνη Βερλίγκα βρίσκεται σε ένα οροπέδιο, σε υψόμετρο 2050 μέτρων, στο όρος Λάκμος ή Περιστέρι, πάνω από το Χαλίκι. Στα βόρειά της υψώνεται η ψηλότερη κορυφή του Λάκμου, Τσουκαρέλα (2.295 μ.) και στα νότια δεσπόζουν τα βράχια της κορυφής Μέγας Τράπος (2.240 μ.). Πρόκειται για μια σχεδόν κυκλική λίμνη η οποία δημιουργείται από τα χιόνια που λιώνουν στις γύρω πλαγιές. Τριγύρω της σχηματίζονται ρυάκια σε σχήμα μαιάνδρων και γι’ αυτό οι Βλάχοι την ονόμασαν Βερλίγκα, που στα βλάχικα σημαίνει στριφογύρισμα. Χαρακτηρίζεται από το φαινόμενο να στραγγίζει τα νερά της, δημιουργώντας χοάνη, με αποτέλεσμα το καλοκαίρι να στερεύει. Τα νερά οδηγούνται στην έξοδο του οροπεδίου και συνεχίζουν χαμηλά, αποτελώντας μία από τις πηγές του Ασπροποτάμου. Το καλοκαίρι, τα λιβάδια γύρω από τη λίμνη πλημμυρίζουν από αγριολούλουδα. Ανάμεσα στο πράσινο ξεπετάγονται κυανοί κρόκοι (Crocus veluchensis) και κίτρινες νεραγκούλες (Ranunculus acris) συνθέτοντας ένα πανέμορφο χαλί για να κοιμάται ο δράκος της Βερλίγκας.
Οι δρακόλιμνες στα Ελληνικά βουνά είναι ένα γεωλογικό φαινόμενο της εποχής των παγετώνων. Σύμφωνα με έναν μύθο, κάποτε στην περιοχή ζούσε ένας δράκος. Με τη μορφή φιδιού, πετάχτηκε μέσα από τον βράχο και έρποντας, βυθίστηκε πάλι στη γη, στο σημείο από όπου φεύγουν τα νερά. Από το μέρος που βγήκε ο δράκος ξεπήδησε νερό, το οποίο ακολουθεί την οφιοειδή πορεία του πάνω στα λιβάδια, σχηματίζοντας τη Βερλίγκα. Οι ντόπιοι την αποκαλούν καρβελού επειδή, όπως λέγεται, όσα καρβέλια ψωμί και να φάει κάποιος θα τα χωνέψει αμέσως αν πιει νερό από τη λίμνη. Είναι η τρίτη δρακόλιμνη της Πίνδου. Οι άλλες δύο βρίσκονται στην Τύμφη και στο Σμόλικα.
