How Zombie is famous and has tons of money but still finds the most value in cheaper Halloween masks is why I love him so much, what a treasure.
Nah he pretty much explained it. It's what Halloween was for him when he was a kid. They wear those cheap crappy plastic masks since no one could afford anything else nor was really anything else. Some even made their own ones which was actually the point to be a child and work on your creativity. He bought things from his childhood.
With other words nostalgia speaking in his mind. This girl can't grasp it since she is much younger and she is a typical ''but this mask it better bcs its realistic'' failing to realize that she is in a store with a edgy dinosaur XD Both mentally stuck in their own era of edgy crap.
Besides he did that only for MTV not bcs he really gave a F to buy anything anyway ... Which he also mentioned here, Halloween is everyday for him through his entire life so he isn't hyped. If anything I would get tired of it all.

He’s got a few good songs from the albums I have of his, but most of it is meh to me. His movies are a mostly misses, but the commentary with him explaining and talking about his creative process is where he shines.
He’s definitely a very creative person, and it’s great he has his outlet for what he wants to do.
His music with White Zombie was great, especially the album with Thunderkiss 65...but yeah, his solo stuff with the dance beats is mediocre at best

Same here. I've even set up those decorations with the light sensor that makes them laugh or scream as ghetto alarms for stuff year round. I also have a "skull pile" next to my toilet paper in the bathroom, and a bookshelf of monster horror and Sci fi themed toys, such as figures of the undertaker, Bigfoot, a Lego graveyard, and an rc monster truck version of the ecto-1 from Ghostbusters.
I think I would probably like Rob Zombie's house.

We didn’t have Spirit Halloween or online shopping in 1995. I think we had one local costume shop and it was expensive. So you had to be creative and hit up the thrift shops/craft stores for costumes. So yeah I started early putting costumes together because as a broke college student I had to wait weekly to get paid to put money towards my costumes. Didn’t realize it then but that was the best part.

The interviewer commented that two months in advance is too early to celebrate Halloween.. which was a common & practical attitude until about 15 years ago. Now it seems every meathead in my neighborhood starts Halloween decorations in early Sept. And retailers do the same..

I fucking love the paper thin celluloid masks too. Authenticity, at least in Halloween masks, is not a matter of technology, as much as a matter of buying what would be available in a small town. I hate dollar general in most cases, but there’s nothing like a $3 Frankenstein mask bought in bumfuck Idaho, and they still sell the motherfuckers!! Every year!! Being lower middle class is an important part of middle American culture, which is the only thing that keeps holidays going. Otherwise, we would just have spending contests, which devalues the entire reason for the season. Pretending.
I hated them for one single reason that maybe most people can't relate to: I have a big nose that smashes into the mask!
