    Great to finally come across a review by someone who actually wears & doesn't get worried about scratches on there watches
    I live in New Zealand 🇳🇿 & I've been a Tag Heuer customer for over 20 years but have decided to try another brand regardless of which one of these watches I would choose it is extremely difficult to get your hands on a brand now Rolex here & since I'm after a daily watch I'm going to give to Tudor a try.
    Thanks for the great review

    I did choose the P39 instead of a sub but then got a GMT Master II for the Rolex part 😂 - and an Overseas for the elegant diver style, the 2009/10 Breitling SuperOcean Arrowhand for a real diver (1500m) - this hobby is madness. 😂

    • @Bisley1
      @Bisley1 Před 8 měsíci +2

      That‘s an excellent collection and I feel your better off with the P39 and a GMT, the P39 being a more tool watch addition compared to the fancier rest of them

    The P39 oozes toolwatch charm and is something different!! Price is great too. I didn’t like it on photos until i wore it. Same goes for the BB58 925. a stunner on the wrist and an option you could consider, if you sell the Sub

    • @AndySTWT

    Pelagos for the everyday watch and the sub for the dressier occasions. The sub looks more formal, and as you said, I'd be worried about it when I wear it.

    A great watch and for that very reason it can’t be boring. I can’t justify buying one, so an Octopus Kraken titanium with a Sellita movement at $350 will have to do! Good review.

  • @robbasilio7235
    @robbasilio7235 Před 8 měsíci +3

    Ok I rewatched your video and now I understand your dilemma
    1) submariner can draw negative attention making it a watch you have to be conscientious about when and where you wear it
    2) you like neovintage hence the explorer and Pelagos 39 are better options
    3) you already have the bond watch so that would replace the sub (according to you)
    4) the build and look of the sub oozes luxury, it holds it value. Availability of sub can be difficult
    Based on those reasons above it sounds like selling the sub is the option to go for. Watch collecting should be fun not perilous or life threatening .

    • @AndySTWT
      @AndySTWT  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Exactly! Which also i shouldn’t be so afraid an cautious wearing the sub. Just live life haha fortunately i know when and where to wear it so im ok! But yes absolutely you got it right

    • @robbasilio7235
      @robbasilio7235 Před 8 měsíci

      Ok…another crazy solution is wear the heck out of the submariner and create scratches/dings so it will be your tool watch 😂I personally would keep the sub wear it like a Pelagos 39!!!

      I bought the Sub 50th anniversary in 2007 and wore it day in and day out. I use to be a competitive road cyclist and wore it even through the competitive seasons until the madness of Covid shining a whole new light on Rolex. Now I feel Rolex especially the Sub is more for the individual who wants that attention or “flex” even though the timepiece has an incredible movement, the Sub is more Jewellery focus rather than the tool watch it is supposed to be. When I purchase my Kermit, I got 15% off retail, lol. These days, I can’t wear my Kermit even though it’s bashed up plus, I have the most amazing memories wearing that timepiece. Now she lives in security rather than my wrist so I bought the Pelagos 39. It’s my daily wearer and I love it! I refuse to baby the P39 and just enjoy the timepiece. I share it with my Speedy moonwatch (wrist time). Now that is an Iconic timepiece and feel comfortable wearing it as a daily driver

  • @DaveLeeKnives
    @DaveLeeKnives Před 9 měsíci +3

    If youre selling one because you need the money, then a used sub will get you close to retail price but a used p39 will sell for way less than retail price.

    • @AndySTWT
      @AndySTWT  Před 8 měsíci +1

      This is very true! Na Im thinking of selling one because of the similarities and i use way more the p39 than the sub giving the circumstances

    The Rolex no-date Submariner has been and will always be my favorite watch of all time. I know it's boring and everyone has one but so what. Having said that, Titanium is my favorite watch material. So for me, these would be two must have watches and I would have to keep them both in my collection.

    I was on the list for a no-date Sub, but once I got the Pelagos 39, I loved it so much, I told my AD to take me off the Sub list. I LOVE it and everything about it. It is the titanium sub that Rolex will make some day and charge 3x the price of the P39 for. If I get a Rolex diver, I'll go the opposite route and pick up a James Cameron Deepsea for a true Rolex flex watch. But the P39 will be my daily diver for a long time to come.

  • @Bisley1
    @Bisley1 Před 8 měsíci +1

    Great video! I love the neo vintage 5 digit Rolex models but somehow I don’t want to pay the same price for a 20 year old no date sub as a new one. Currently on the list for a Sub LV because of that. I‘d kind of favor the old no date, because of its tool watch aesthetic but at that price I probably wouldn’t be banging it around, which is why I‘ll probably get the P39 too at some point. My buddy has one and I absolutely love it, i think it’s awesome. The only reason I haven’t got it yet is because I‘m actually waiting for two watches🤞🏻 and I told myself I‘d wait until I get at least one of both, before buying something else.

    • @AndySTWT
      @AndySTWT  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I agree i do think this myself thats why i didn’t buy a 5 digit sub and opted for the new iteration. And yes the pelagos is an excelente everydayer and a fantastic tool watch not to worry about scratches! Thanks for sharing your thoughts

  • @dellwright1407

    The sub will hold its value better from an AD... and gives you a date window. In all other aspects for me it's the P39 that wins.

      What do you mean by „hold its value better from an AD“? I‘m sure it will hold its value better but what does the AD have to do with that? Regarding the date window, i suppose the no date sub would have been more apples to apples, but he happens to own the date version.

    • @dellwright1407
      @dellwright1407 Před 8 měsíci

      @@Bisley1 I mean if you can buy a sub at retail price form an AD then its a sound investment (you would recoup if you needed to sell). As you'll be aware though, you cant just walk in off the street and buy a Rolex, especially not a sports rolex. Grey market is different however.

    I have an OG 2-liner Pelagos and it’s amazing. I tried on the 39mm and it felt too light (which is saying something given how light the 42mm Pelagos is). I also have a Hulk and I love that watch too. Between a Sub and a 39mm Pelagos, I’d keep the Sub (I like the date complication… it’s useful… functionality trumps form/design IMHO).

    I don't think there is even a choice...the Submariner is a damned near perfect watch (and I've never liked the look of Tudors). But the Rolex prices? The prices are just ridiculous! I owned and wore a Sub as a GADA for over 20 years - skydiving, SCUBA diving, at the office, on the shooting range, it basically never left my wrist. But as the prices rose and rose, I could no longer justify it. I sold my Rolexes and bought Steinharts. And pocketed tens of thousands of dollars! The Steinharts make me perfectly happy.

  • @IDaumI
    @IDaumI Před 13 dny

    IF I had the money... I'd go with the Tudor as I wouldn't want to be associated with the Rolex brand. I guess a Rolex would be compared to a Lambo which is too loud and attention grabbing. Usually associated with new money, Tudor is more subdued as a brand and would be more like a Porsche. Sure it will get attention but it's not as desperate as a Lambo if that makes sense. 🤣
